Book excerpt: L'objectif de ce travail est d'effectuer un bilan des injections de toxine botulique effectuées, en Médecine Physique et Réadaptation, à l'hôpital saint Jacques à Nantes. Entre le 10 janvier et le 27 décembre 2004, soixante-huit patients ont participé aux consultations de toxine botulique. Le traitement s'est révélé efficace chez 80% des patients traités pour une dystonie cervicale, 93,33% des patients traités pour un trouble aux membres supérieurs et 82,05% des patients traités aux membres inférieurs. De plus, aux membres supérieurs, elle est efficace chez 100% des patients (11 sujets) traités dans un objectif fonctionnel tandis que, dans un objectif de confort, elle est de 89,47% (17 personnes sur 19). Au cours de cette étude, nous avons recensé 7 patients ayant souffert d'effets indésirables. La toxine botulique constitue une thérapeutique transitoire de choix de la spasticité focale fonctionnellement gênante.
