Book Political Systems Norms and Laws

Download or read book Political Systems Norms and Laws written by Andreas Sofroniou and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-03-11 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The political activities of the various nations involve the study and practice of government and the exercise of authority. Efforts are made to influence, gain, or wield power at various levels of government, internally and internationally, rather than in private settings and associations. Modes of political activity are highly diverse, varying from dispute resolution and formal elections to the threat or use of outright coercion or force. The degree to which people can engage in political activity also varies in different countries: in open societies, individuals have more freedom to participate in the exercise of political power than in closed societies, where such power is restricted to small groups. There has also been pressure for more democracy at a lower level, particularly in the way that work is organized. The social conditions for stable democratic government have been extensively discussed, with level of economic development apparently the most important single factor.

Book TECHNOLOGICAL INTEGRATIONS

Download or read book TECHNOLOGICAL INTEGRATIONS written by Andreas Sofroniou and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-09-04 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The application of technology and its integrations includes the scientific knowledge to the practical aims of human life or to the change and manipulation of the human environment. Circa 3000 years BC many new technologies were developed; irrigation systems, road networks and wheeled vehicles, a pictographic form of writing and new building techniques. The new ideas and techniques engendered official persecution, but by the mid-17th century the tide of opinion had changed. By the late 17th century, technology essentially meant engineering. During the 19th century science began to create new technologies. This continued into the 20th century with the introduction of computing, Internet, Artificial Intelligence and other services made possible only because of further advances in science. In recent years Western aid has sought to develop appropriate technologies, using local materials and techniques, in partnership with the indigenous peoples.

Book Analysis of Logic and Sanity

Download or read book Analysis of Logic and Sanity written by Andreas Sofroniou and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through the ages man has been pre-occupied with logic, sanity and moral standards, probably more than other concepts. Societies through their various stages of evolution varied the theme with distinct differences in their demands on standards, dogmas, and regional culture. These variations of morality place a big demand on science. Individuals from different cultures, social groups, of known and unknown social norms may occupy the practitioner's couch; the significance of this being the understanding demanded of the therapist. People live in groups and humans choose to live in groups, simply for what they can get out of society. Those who choose to live in solitude become recluse in monasteries and nunneries, or become thinkers in isolation high up in mountains. The causation theory regarding the logic and sanity analysis in this book includes the seemingly necessary connection between one event (the cause) and the other (the effect).

Book Stoicism Knowledge Reason Harmony

Download or read book Stoicism Knowledge Reason Harmony written by Andreas Sofroniou and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-04-02 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Followers of Stoicism offer for consideration various metaphysical systems, united chiefly by their ethical implications. All variants on the pantheistic theme that the world constitutes a single, organically unified and benevolent whole, in which apparent evil results only from our limited view. Their philosophy had at its core the beliefs that virtue is based on: Knowledge; Reason and Harmony. The changes of circumstances were viewed with evenness of mind: pleasure, pain, and even death were irrelevant to true happiness. In time, the idea that only the accomplished wise man (the philosopher) could attain virtue was challenged, and Stoicism became more relevant to the reality of politics and statesmen. The Stoic belief in the brotherhood of man helped philosophy to make a real impact in later Republican Rome; upon such men as the young Cato (whose suicide brought him a martyr's fame), Brutus, and Cicero. Its disciples included Seneca, tutor and adviser to Nero and the emperor Marcus Aurelius.

Book Man And His Mule

  • Author : Andreas Sofroniou
  • Publisher : Lulu.com
  • Release : 2013-01-02
  • ISBN : 1291270906
  • Pages : 360 pages

Download or read book Man And His Mule written by Andreas Sofroniou and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-01-02 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For us Cypriots poetry means the creation of anything, in this case structurally using words with specific meaning. The composition of poetry is, therefore, an art where words construct sentences, verses using metaphors and symbols, which in turn are based on imagination... A poem does not have to rhyme and yet it can be a stanza, a canto to a loved one, an ode to a hero, a sarcastic remark to emphasise the importance of a point made, an elegy composed to explain feelings arranged as a work of art. What prose can explain in three hundred pages, a poem (as a masterpiece) can express in one single page; with more meaning, using larger-than-life pictures describing timeless classic scenes, memorable events and bringing immortality to life itself. The poems included in this collection have endured time and kept the promise of including all that is described above. The subjects chosen, show such versatility that the reader will require time to read the elevated expression of thoughts and feelings.

Book WISDOM AN ACCUMULATION OF KNOWLEDGE

Download or read book WISDOM AN ACCUMULATION OF KNOWLEDGE written by Andreas Sofroniou and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-04-05 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wisdom: One of the most difficult explanations in all of the worldwide studies of the English philology is that of the term of 'wisdom', or that of 'to-be-wise'. To be wise one has, or exhibits reason with a capacity for discernment and the intelligent application of knowledge. As an individual he may use knowledge, thus being discerning, insightful, knowledgeable, perceptive, and sagacious. By being wise, an individual will be exercising or involving sound judgment and as such, a person is aware of his actions and his thoughtfulness. Wisdom is therefore an accumulation of philosophic, religious, or scientific learning and knowledge, with the ability to discern inner qualities and relationships, generally with accepted beliefs and attitudes.

Book Philosophy of Mind

    Book Details:
  • Author : Andreas Sofroniou
  • Publisher : Lulu.com
  • Release : 2019-08-16
  • ISBN : 0244510539
  • Pages : 120 pages

Download or read book Philosophy of Mind written by Andreas Sofroniou and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-08-16 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The philosophy of the mind deals with the examination of problems revolving around the concept of the mind. The mental may be distinguished from the physical in various ways: intentionality and consciousness provide important features of mental states. An important part of the argument is the claim that mental states are known in a special way: they are directly given, transparent to their owner and known infallibly. Monist and materialist believe that reality is physical and explained by natural science; sought in various ways to understand the mind in material terms. Behaviourism advocates that psychology should concern itself exclusively with observation of behaviour, disregarding introspection altogether. Others propose that mental states are the same as states of the brain. Dissatisfaction with these overly simple attempts to incorporate the mental into the physical realm led to the development of functionalism.

Book ETHOS Individual Social Cultural Institutional

Download or read book ETHOS Individual Social Cultural Institutional written by Andreas Sofroniou and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2020-01-02 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ethos takes account of the character, sentiment, manners, moral nature, or guiding beliefs of a person, group, or institution and the predominant characteristics of a racial culture. In rhetoric, this is the speakers' or writer's character or emotions, articulated in the attempt to persuade an audience. Ethos is distinguished from pathos, which is the emotion the speaker or writer hopes to induce in the audience. The two concepts were well known in a broader sense by ancient Classical authors, who used pathos when referring to the violent emotions and ethos to mean the calmer ones. Ethology deals with the behaviour in a natural environment and investigates the development of systems of morals; now more generally, the science of human character. Ethology is particularly concerned with the animal's interactions with others of the same species and the function of behaviour and how the evolution of behaviour has been influenced by natural selection.

Book EXPERT SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING FOR HUMAN REPLICATION

Download or read book EXPERT SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING FOR HUMAN REPLICATION written by Andreas Sofroniou and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-10-15 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: EXPERT SYSTEMS, KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING FOR HUMAN REPLICATION. An expert system is a computer program that attempts to replicate the expertise and decision-making abilities of a human expert. Expert systems are the most widely developed area of artificial intelligence, with a variety of applications ranging from medical diagnosis through to financial decision-making and geological prospecting. They often use a heuristic or self-learning approach to the solution of a problem, in which feedback of the results of a particular course of action influences subsequent decisions. Expert systems usually have two principal parts: a knowledge base (a special database, which contains facts and other information representing the rules and experience of an expert practitioner in a particular field); and an inference engine, which interprets the knowledge base in relation to the particular problem being presented.

Book Mine own Ideology Idealism Politics

Download or read book Mine own Ideology Idealism Politics written by Andreas Sofroniou and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-08-15 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concepts and writings are not timeless and should instead be understood in terms of the historical context in which they developed. Ideology is a political belief-system which explains the world as it currently is and suggests how it should be changed. The term describes social classes, especially that of capitalism or bourgeoisie. Ideology is recognised as the means by which people perceive the social world and consciously subscribe to a political creed. Idealism is a set of views according to which the physical world is dependent upon the mind; we somehow create the world. Idealists are not saying that our experience of the world is other than what it is; simply a collection of 'ideas' that are coherent. Politics is the study and practice of how people are governed. Efforts are made to influence, gain, or wield power at various levels of government, internally and internationally, including dispute resolution, formal elections to the threat or use of outright coercion or force.
