Book Towards a rigorous fusion of GNSS and InSAR observations for the purpose of water vapor retrieval

Download or read book Towards a rigorous fusion of GNSS and InSAR observations for the purpose of water vapor retrieval written by Heublein, Marion and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the framework of the rigorous fusion of GNSS and InSAR observations, the presented work carries out at a straightforward comparison of the wet delay, caused by water vapor, derived from GNSS and InSAR. The contributions of the two sensors to the wet delay are compared in the line of sight towards the SAR satellite. Comparisons of GNSS observations with the satellite-directed InSAR data show that only a partial component of the wet delay remains after the interferogram formation.

Book The Global Education Effect and Japan

Download or read book The Global Education Effect and Japan written by Neriko Musha Doerr and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-03-03 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume investigates the "global education effect"—the impact of global education initiatives on institutional and individual practices and perceptions—with a special focus on the dynamics of border construction, recognition, subversion, and erasure regarding "Japan". The Japanese government’s push for global education has taken shape mainly in the form of English-medium instruction programs and bringing in international students who sometimes serve as a foreign workforce to fill the declining labour force. Chapters in this volume draw from education, anthropology, sociology, linguistics, and psychology to examine the ways in which demographic changes, economic concerns, race politics, and nationhood intersect with the efforts to "globalize" education and create specific "global education effects" in the Japanese archipelago. This book will provide a valuable resource for anyone who is interested in Japanese studies and global education.

This book was released on 2017 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Detailed information on the gravitational effect of the Earth's topographic and isostatic masses can be calculated by gravity forward modeling. Within this book, the tesseroid-based Rock-Water-Ice (RWI) approach is developed, which allows a rigorous separate modeling of the Earth's rock, water, and ice masses with variable density values. Besides a discussion and evaluation of the RWI approach, applications in the context of the GOCE satellite mission and height system unification are presented.

Book Global Navigation Satellite System Monitoring of the Atmosphere

Download or read book Global Navigation Satellite System Monitoring of the Atmosphere written by Guergana Guerova and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2021-09-11 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) monitoring of the atmosphere is an interdisciplinary topic: a collaboration between geodetic and atmospheric communities. As such, this topic requires sufficient basic knowledge about both GNSS and the atmosphere. Global Navigation Satellite System Monitoring of the Atmosphere begins by introducing GNSS, its components, and signals. It then explains the basics of the atmosphere, starting from the ionosphere to the troposphere. The GNSS tropospheric monitoring is separated for application in numerical weather prediction and nowcasting. Further chapters focus on the application of GNSS for monitoring the climate as well as soil moisture. Finally, the book concludes by discussing GNSS processing along with introducing the latest developments and applications for using atmospheric data to provide precise real-time GNSS products. Explains the basics of GNSS positioning and signals Includes the state of the art in GNSS observations of the atmosphere and hydrosphere Presents the basics of numerical weather prediction and analysis

Book Retrieval of Moisture from GPS Slant path Water Vapor Observations Using 3DVAR and Its Impact on the Prediction of Convection Initiation and Precipitation

Download or read book Retrieval of Moisture from GPS Slant path Water Vapor Observations Using 3DVAR and Its Impact on the Prediction of Convection Initiation and Precipitation written by Haixia Liu and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The anisotropic explicit filter is computationally expensive in both CPU time and memory usage. Therefore the implicit recursive filter which is computationally much more efficient is implemented in our 3DVAR system, even though its implementation is significantly more complicated. A similar set of water vapor analysis experiments using the recursive filters is performed. The analyses thus obtained are generally comparable to or better than those obtained using the corresponding explicit filters. In addition, the sensitivity of the analyses to the spatial de-correlation scales of the background error is systematically examined.

Book Production of a Long Term Global Water Vapor and Liquid Water Data Set Using Ultra Fast Methods to Assimilate Multi Satellite and Radiosonde Observations

Download or read book Production of a Long Term Global Water Vapor and Liquid Water Data Set Using Ultra Fast Methods to Assimilate Multi Satellite and Radiosonde Observations written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-10 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a well-documented requirement for a comprehensive and accurate global moisture data set to assist many important studies in atmospheric science. Currently, atmospheric water vapor measurements are made from a variety of sources including radiosondes, aircraft and surface observations, and in recent years, by various satellite instruments. Creating a global data set from a single measuring system produces results that are useful and accurate only in specific situations and/or areas. Therefore, an accurate global moisture data set has been derived from a combination of these measurement systems. Under a NASA peer-reviewed contract, STC-METSAT produced two 5-yr (1988-1992) global data sets. One is the total column (integrated) water vapor data set and the other, a global layered water vapor data set using a combination of radiosonde observations, Television and Infrared Observation Satellite (TIROS) Operational Satellite (TOVS), and Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) data sets. STC-METSAT also produced a companion, global, integrated liquid water data set. The complete data set (all three products) has been named NVAP, an anachronym for NASA Water Vapor Project. STC-METSAT developed methods to process the data at a daily time scale and 1 x 1 deg spatial resolution. Book Information Retrieval from Spaceborne GNSS Reflectometry Observations Using Physics and Learning based Techniques

Download or read book Information Retrieval from Spaceborne GNSS Reflectometry Observations Using Physics and Learning based Techniques written by Orhan Eroglu and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation proposes a learning-based, physics-aware soil moisture (SM) retrieval algorithm for NASA’s Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) mission. The proposed methodology has been built upon the literature review, analyses, and findings from a number of published studies throughout the dissertation research. Namely, a Sig- nals of Opportunity Coherent Bistatic scattering model (SCoBi) has been first developed at MSU and then its simulator has been open-sourced. Simulated GNSS-Reflectometry (GNSS-R) analyses have been conducted by using SCoBi. Significant findings have been noted such that (1) Although the dominance of either the coherent reflections or incoher- ent scattering over land is a debate, we demonstrated that coherent reflections are stronger for flat and smooth surfaces covered by low-to-moderate vegetation canopy; (2) The influ- ence of several land geophysical parameters such as SM, vegetation water content (VWC), and surface roughness on the bistatic reflectivity was quantified, the dynamic ranges of reflectivity changes due to SM and VWC are much higher than the changes due to the surface roughness. Such findings of these analyses, combined with a comprehensive lit- erature survey, have led to the present inversion algorithm: Physics- and learning-based retrieval of soil moisture information from space-borne GNSS-R measurements that are taken by NASA’s CYGNSS mission. The study is the first work that proposes a machine learning-based, non-parametric, and non-linear regression algorithm for CYGNSS-based soil moisture estimation. The results over point-scale soil moisture observations demon- strate promising performance for applicability to large scales. Potential future work will be extension of the methodology to global scales by training the model with larger and diverse data sets.
