Book excerpt: Original works by godly writers, tailored for the understanding of today's reader For hundreds of years Christendom has been blessed with Bible commentaries written by great men of God who were highly respected for their godly walk and their insight into spiritual truth. The Crossway Classic Commentary Series, carefully adapted for maximum understanding and usefulness, presents the very best work on individual Bible books for today's believers. Addressed to persecuted believers, Peter's first letter encourages them with the knowledge that it is possible to live victoriously in the midst of hostility—just as Christ, who suffered unjustly, did. He exhorts them to live a holy life that they might be a witness and evangelize the world through their faithfulness. In his second epistle, Peter warns against the more subtle dangers from within the church—false teachers and errant doctrine. He also emphasizes the importance of scriptural knowledge, for only in understanding true doctrine will heresies be known and immoral behavior be exposed. Robert Leighton and Griffith Thomas's exploration of 1 and 2 Peter's key passages offers resounding wisdom that will both instruct and encourage all Christians.

Book Fascism and Ideology

    Book Details:
  • Author : Salvatore Garau
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2015-03-24
  • ISBN : 131790947X
  • Pages : 313 pages

Download or read book Fascism and Ideology written by Salvatore Garau and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-03-24 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book develops a number of new conceptual tools to tackle some of the most hotly debated issues concerning the nature of fascism, using three profoundly different national contexts in the inter-war years as case studies: Italy, Britain and Norway. It explores how fascist ideology was the result of a sustained struggle between competing internal factions, which created a precarious, but also highly dynamic, balance between revolutionary/totalitarian and conservative/authoritarian tendencies. Such a balance meant that these movements were hybrids with a surprising degree of internal diversity, which cannot be explained away as simple opportunism or lack of ideological substance. The book's focus on fascist ideology's internal variety and aggregative potential leads it to argue that when fascism "succeeded," this was less an effect of its revolutionary ideas, than of the opposite – namely, its power to integrate elements from other pre-existing ideologies. Given the prevailing opinion that fascism is revolutionary by definition, the book ultimately poses a challenge to the dominant view in the field of fascist studies.

Book Adam s Dream

    Book Details:
  • Author : Joseph Romanella
  • Publisher : BalboaPress
  • Release : 2012-11-30
  • ISBN : 1452508240
  • Pages : 513 pages

Download or read book Adam s Dream written by Joseph Romanella and published by BalboaPress. This book was released on 2012-11-30 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to the Holy Scriptures, in the beginning, Adam felt very alone and deeply longed to have a partner like him. God therefore caused him to fall into a deep sleep, took one of his ribs, and fashioned woman from it. Notably, there is no mention in the Holy Bible that he later awoke. In Adams Dream, author Joseph Romanella presents a strong and very compelling argument that Adam, as the universal man (or mind), is still sound asleep and has progressed to dream of humankind as his direct off spring. He believes that with this new revolutionary knowledge gained through Divine Grace, the self-centered mentalities of human beings along with their narrow points of view concerning life and the outside world will also have to undergo corresponding changes. In fact, by comprehending that we are currently living inside of a very realistic fantasy as imaginary personal figures, we are immediately placed in the proper perspective to significantly change the way that we think, feel, perceive, will and behave. As a result, with this Holy Knowledge we are in a position to attract many good things into our earthly lives, not only to prosper us spiritually, but also in every other way. Moreover, with this new light a clearer awareness and a deeper acceptance of Gods Intimate Love for each one of us, automatically arises. And, contrary to popular religious beliefs, we also come to the realization that by faith all of our sins, past, present and future have already been forgiven and we have been empowered to enter into the Glorious Freedom, Rest, Life, Joy, Wisdom, Righteousness and Eternal Embrace of our Heavenly Father, without the need for any good works or sacrifices on our part.

Book Walking on Water

    Book Details:
  • Author : Norman Coggin
  • Publisher : WestBow Press
  • Release : 2023-11-14
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 288 pages

Download or read book Walking on Water written by Norman Coggin and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2023-11-14 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why did Jesus choose an imperfect man like Peter? How could He love a man like Peter? The reason we wonder is because behind, underneath, and wrapped around those questions is a deeper more personal one: how can Jesus love me? We relate to Peter, not because of his personality, but because he was every bit as flawed as we are. One moment, his faith stood strong, and the next, he opposed God’s will with his own. Peter was like us, with a desire for what is right but so inclined toward what is wrong. He was not exceptional by nature, but God used him exceptionally because he never stopped giving himself to God a little more completely after each lesson of the failure found in himself. What turned out to be Peter’s greatest strength was admitting his own weakness: his need for a Savior. Why did Jesus choose Peter? It was because of grace, always and only. Peter knew it and never stopped pointing others to Jesus. Walking on Water is for every follower of Christ who has fallen flat on his or her face and failed completely one time or another—or many times over. Jesus picked Peter up every time, and he’ll pick you up, too, whether you feel you deserve it or not.

Book Tales from the Cleveland Cavaliers Locker Room

Download or read book Tales from the Cleveland Cavaliers Locker Room written by Roger Gordon and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-11-18 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Long before “The Decision,” four MVP awards, and back-to-back NBA championships with the Miami Heat, LeBron James opened the 2003–04 season as an untested rookie with the Cleveland Cavaliers. In Tales from the Cleveland Cavaliers Locker Room: The Rookie Season of LeBron James, first published in 2004, readers will find anecdotes about this extraordinary rookie who grew up a stone’s throw away in Akron. Fans will read about the rest of the Cavaliers, from celebrations on the day lottery luck shone upon the team and the anticipation of LeBron’s debut to disappointments like the season-opening five-game losing streak and 6–19 start; from the excitement of a young team maturing under the guidance of head coach Paul Silas to the shrewd moves of general manager Jim Paxson. There were also the moments bordering on the absurd, like the near-riot on LeBron James Bobblehead Night. And there was the heartbreaking late-season injury to a key player that likely cost the Cavs a playoff berth. Through the eyes and ears of the media, coaches, players, fans, and more, this book is a must-read for any Cavs or NBA fan. It is a whimsical reflection on the rebirth of a forlorn franchise that was quite possibly a Ping-Pong ball away from relocating to another state. It is a look back at how a team led by a teenage kid with remarkable skills, awesome strength, and incredible poise went from being the laughingstock of the NBA to becoming a true playoff contender. In 2014, LeBron James decided to come home, where he remained through 2018. In this newly updated edition, Tales from the Cleveland Cavaliers Locker Room will make Cavs fans feel as if he never left.
