Book Fully Alive

Book excerpt: "In the spirit of Adam Braun's The Promise of a Pencil and Blake Mycoskie's Start Something That Matters, Fully Alive tells the story of an astoundingly successful young entrepreneur's immersion in Amazonian indigenous spirituality and how he integrated the lessons he learned to build a successful, socially responsible company, live a purposeful life, and make a difference in the world. In Fully Alive, Tyler Gage shares his spiritual adventures and the business savvy that helped him create RUNA, a tea and energy drink company that collaborates with the indigenous people of Ecuador to harvest the "master plant" guayusa, revealing a centuries-old guiding philosophy for building a sacred way of living that he discovered through Amazonian shamanism. Following these teachings, what began as a humble start-up has now grown into a thriving, multi-million dollar company, selling products in more than 10,000 stores across the United States and Canada. With the help of collaborators like Channing Tatum, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Olivia Wilde, RUNA has created a sustainable source of income for the 3,000 farming families in Ecuador who grow guayusa organically, while also establishing a nonprofit organization dedicated to positively impacting the issues that affect these indigenous communities. Packed with practical and inspiring lessons, this book offers a comprehensive examination of how we too might become "fully alive," both in business and as individuals"--

Book excerpt: A dynamic, practical guide to embracing your past and discovering a deeper connection to yourself, God, and others so you can reclaim who God created you to be. Many of us yearn for a sense of purpose, but we wonder how we can overcome the trauma and mistakes of our past. We keep doing and doing for God, hoping to erase our story so we can find our true calling. Free and Fully Alive is a powerful reminder that our stories hold the key to our true purpose, and it's who we are in those stories, not what we do, that is the secret to living the abundant life God promises. As author Karrie Garcia draws on her own experiences and her expertise as a life coach, she shows us why God's redemptive purpose for our lives doesn't begin once we're free from pain, and as we are vulnerable with God, ourselves, and others, we find that we are already who God created us to be. A vibrant guide to getting unstuck, Free and Fully Alive equips you to: Ditch the behavior modification strategies and focus on true heart transformation Stop chasing external achievements when what you long for is internal change Silence that inner critic and find the voice of truth through the Word of God Realize that God's love for you has nothing to do with all you accomplish today Understand that your past does not disqualify you from God's purpose Feel fully alive in the story you're living. You are meant to be here. In fact, that's the greatest purpose of all.

Book Jesus Make Me Fully Alive

Download or read book Jesus Make Me Fully Alive written by Fr. Tim Anastos and published by Ave Maria Press. This book was released on 2024-02-16 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No matter what stage of the game you’re in, today’s schedules are b-u-s-y. Classes or work, coffee meetups, pickup pickleball games, time with family—you name it. The calendar tends to keep the social commitments and professional pressures high. In somewhat quieter moments of adulting, you may be combing apps for common ground, seeking community, and somehow still feeling as though you’re just going through the motions. Associate chaplain of the St. John Paul II Newman Center at the University of Illinois–Chicago, Fr. Tim Anastos says that when we take our prayer life seriously, approaching God with confidence and making a regular Holy Hour, Jesus begins to replace anxiety, insecurity, and doubt with love, freedom, and eternity. “Living in this world can easily drain us of life and joy, making us half alive, like zombies,” Anastos writes. “Jesus, Make Me Fully Alive can help recharge our relationship with Christ. Holy Hours are not just meant for the pope or the saints or ‘holy people.’ They are meant for you.” Beginning where you are (a few minutes for intentional prayer or an entire hour spent in Adoration), Anastos’s thirty Holy Hour exercises will help you easily engage with Jesus in prayer, building your personal relationship with God. You’ll also encounter personal examples of how Adoration made a difference in Fr. Anastos’s own prayer life, suggestions about how to incorporate lectio divina in your prayer, and imaginative prayer and spiritual journaling you can tap into before the Blessed Sacrament.

Download or read book Fully Alive written by Tyler Gage and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-08-01 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fully Alive tells the story of an astoundingly successful young entrepreneur’s immersion in Amazonian indigenous spirituality, its life-changing impact on him, and how he integrated the lessons he learned to build a successful, socially responsible company, live a purposeful life, and make a difference in the world. Building a start-up is like being thrust into the middle of the Amazon rainforest: living every day on the edge of your comfort zone, vulnerable to the unexpected challenges constantly being thrown your way, and constantly shifting to meet daily demands and do everything and anything you can to survive, let alone thrive. Vulnerable, raw, and deeply transparent, Fully Alive reveals powerful tools and lessons that can teach all of us how to grow toward and beyond our personal edges, no matter our circumstances. Tyler Gage shares his spiritual adventures and the business savvy that helped him create RUNA, a pioneering organization that weaves together the seemingly divergent worlds of Amazonian traditions and modern business, demonstrating how we can dig deeper to bring greater meaning and purpose to our personal and professional pursuits. From suburban youth to immersion in the Amazon to entrepreneurial success, Tyler’s journey clearly shows that passion and opportunity can be found in the most unexpected places. Captivated by a rare Amazonian tea leaf called guayusa that had never been commercially produced, Tyler started RUNA to partner with the indigenous people of Ecuador to share its energy and its message with the world. Using the spiritual teachings, lessons, and healing traditions of the Amazon as his guide, Tyler built RUNA from a scrappy start-up into a thriving, multimillion-dollar company that has become one of the fastest-growing beverage companies in the United States. With the help of investors such as Channing Tatum, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Olivia Wilde, RUNA has created a sustainable source of income for more than 3,000 farming families in Ecuador who sustainably grow guayusa in the rainforest. Simultaneously, RUNA has built a rapidly scaling nonprofit organization that is working to create a new future for trade in the Amazon based on respectful exchange and healing, not exploitation and greed. Practical tools and lessons are woven throughout the story of Gage’s successes and failures, offering guidance on how to relate to obstacles as teachers and how to accomplish our personal and professional goals in the often uncertain circumstances we find ourselves in.

Book The Comprehensive Resource Model

Download or read book The Comprehensive Resource Model written by Lisa Schwarz and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2016-10-04 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditional methods employed in psychotherapy have limited effectiveness when it comes to healing the psychological effects of trauma, in particular, complex trauma. While a client may seem to make significant breakthroughs in understanding their feelings and experiences on a rational level by talking with a therapist, this will make no difference to their post-traumatic symptoms if the midbrain is unable to modulate its activity in response. The Comprehensive Resource Model argues for a novel therapeutic approach, which uniquely bridges neuroscience and spirituality through a combination of somatic therapy, traditional psychotherapy, and indigenous healing concepts to provide effective relief to survivors of trauma. The Comprehensive Resource Model was developed in response to the need for a streamlined, integrative therapeutic model; one which engages a scaffolding of neurobiological resources in many brain structures simultaneously in order for clients to be fully embodied and conscious in the present moment while processing their traumatic material. All three phases of trauma therapy: resourcing, processing, and integration are done simultaneously. Demonstrating a nested model and employing brain and body-based physiological safety as the foundation of healing, chapters describe three primary categories of targeted processing: implicit and explicit survival terror, ‘Little T Truths’, and ‘Big T Truths’, all of which contribute to thorough healing of complex trauma and an expansion into higher states of consciousness and embodiment of the essential core self. This book describes the development and benefits of this pioneering new approach to trauma therapy. As such, it will be of key interest to academics, researchers and postgraduate students in the fields of psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychology and trauma studies. It will also appeal to practising therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, and to others involved in the treatment or management of patients with complex trauma disorders.

Book excerpt: Half-buried in the muddy earth and surrounded by puddles of water lies the naked body of a beautiful young girl. Her pale skin looks like porcelain in the early morning light. Her fragile arms bent and crooked like a broken doll. When Detective Katie Scott is called to the discovery of a young girl buried on the grounds of a former children's home in Pine Valley, California, she's hopeful it's the end to a devastating cold case she's been working on. No one has seen Candace Harlan since she ran away from Elm Hill Manor five years ago. Her death will be a tragedy, but it will also bring peace to those who miss her most. But the girl in the ground is not Candace. The victim is almost identical to Candace in every way, but fear grips Katie as she takes in the black ink that decorates the girl's back - a terrifying message tattooed on her skin after she drew her last breath. Forcing down traumatic memories of losing her own parents, Katie is certain someone mistook this poor soul for Candace, and that this crumbling home for lost girls is at the heart of this terrible crime. She sets to work digging into the tragic history of the owners who lost so many children of their own and tracking down the last six residents and the staff who cared for them - but no one wants to talk, let alone remember. The next day, as second girl's body is found down by the creek at high water, the same words etched into her skin. Katie's worst fear is confirmed: someone is picking off the last of the Elm Hill girls one by one. But what does the tattoo mean? And what monster would target these innocent girls who have already been through so much? Katie must dig deep to confront her own fears and protect the vulnerable - but as the body count rises further, will there be anyone left to save? An absolutely gripping, dark, and totally unputdownable serial killer thriller that will keep you racing through the pages all night long. Download or read book Elegy On Toy Piano written by Dean Young and published by University of Pittsburgh Press. This book was released on 2005-03-13 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Elegy on Toy Piano, Dean Young's sixth book of poems, elegiac necessity finds itself next to goofy celebration. Daffy Duck enters the Valley of the Eternals. Faulkner and bell-bottoms cling to beauty's evanescence. Even in single poems, Young's tone and style vary. No one feeling or idea takes precedence over another, and their simultaneity is frequently revealed; sadness may throw a squirrelly shadow, joy can find itself dressed in mourning black. As in the agitated "Whirlpool Suite": "Pain / and pleasure are two signals carried / over one phoneline." In taking up subjects as slight as the examination of a signature or a true/false test, and as pressing as the death of friends, Young's poems embrace the duplicity of feeling, the malleability of perception, and the truth telling of wordplay.
