Book Applied Cross Coupling Reactions

Download or read book Applied Cross Coupling Reactions written by Yasushi Nishihara and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-14 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Applied Cross-Coupling Reactions” provides students and teachers of advanced organic chemistry with an overview of the history, mechanisms and applications of cross-coupling reactions. Since the discovery of the transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions in 1972, numerous synthetic uses and industrial applications have been developed. The mechanistic studies of the cross-coupling reactions have disclosed that three fundamental reactions: oxidative addition, transmetalation, and reductive elimination, are involved in a catalytic cycle. Cross-coupling reactions have allowed us to produce a variety of compounds for industrial purposes, such as natural products, pharmaceuticals, liquid crystals and conjugate polymers for use in electronic devices. Indeed, the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2010 was awarded for work on cross-coupling reactions. In this book, the recent trends in cross-coupling reactions are also introduced from the point of view of synthesis design and catalytic activities of transition-metal catalysts.

Book excerpt: Opens the door to the sustainable production of pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals Driven by both public demand and government regulations, pharmaceutical and fine chemical manufacturers are increasingly seeking to replace stoichiometric reagents used in synthetic transformations with catalytic routes in order to develop greener, safer, and more cost-effective chemical processes. This book supports the discovery, development, and implementation of new catalytic methodologies on a process scale, opening the door to the sustainable production of pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. Pairing contributions from leading academic and industrial researchers, Sustainable Catalysis focuses on key areas that are particularly important for the fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries, including chemo-, bio-, and organo-catalytic approaches to C H, C N, and C C bond-forming reactions. Chapters include academic overviews of current innovations and industrial case studies at the process scale, providing new insights into green catalytic methodologies from proof-of-concept to their applications in the synthesis of target organic molecules. Sustainable Catalysis provides the foundation needed to develop sustainable green synthetic procedures, with coverage of such emerging topics as: Catalytic reduction of amides avoiding LiAlH4 or B2H6 Synthesis of chiral amines using transaminases Industrial applications of boric acid and boronic acid catalyzed direct amidation reactions C H activation of heteroaromatics Organocatalysis for asymmetric synthesis Offering a balanced perspective on current limitations, challenges, and solutions, Sustainable Catalysis is recommended for synthetic organic chemists seeking to develop new methodologies and for industrial chemists dedicated to large-scale process development.

Book Successful Drug Discovery Volume 1

Download or read book Successful Drug Discovery Volume 1 written by János Fischer and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-05-04 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first volume of the book series "Successful Drug Discovery" is focusing on new drug discoveries during the last decade, from established drugs to recently introduced drugs of all kinds: small-molecule-, peptide-, and protein-based drugs. The role of serendipity is analyzed in some very successful drugs where the research targets of the lead molecule and the drug are different. Phenotypic and target-based drug discovery approaches are discussed from the viewpoint of pioneer drugs and analogues. This volume gives an excellent overview of insulin analogues including a discussion of the properties of rapid-acting and long-acting formulations of this important hormone. The major part of the book is devoted to case histories of new drug discoveries described by their key inventors. Eight case histories range across many therapeutic fields. The goal of this book series is to help the participants of the drug research community with a reference book series and to support teaching in medicinal chemistry with case histories and review articles of new drugs.
