Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An outstanding international scientific event in the field of metathesis chemistry, the NATO ASI "Green Metathesis Chemistry: Great Challenges in Synthesis, Catalysis and Nanotechnology" has been recently organized in Bucharest, Romania (July 21- August 2, 2008). Numerous renowned scientists, young researchers and students, convened for two weeks to present and debate on the newest trends in alkene metathesis and identify future perspectives in this fascinating area of organic, organometallic, catalysis and polymer chemistry with foreseen important applications in materials science and technology. Following the fruitful practice of NATO Advanced Study Institutes, selected contributions covering plenary lectures, short communications and posters have been compiled in this special volume dedicated to this successful convention on green metathesis chemistry. General interest was primarily focused on relevant "green chemistry" features related to all types of metathesis reactions (RCM, CM, enyne metathesis, ADMET and ROMP). Diverse opportunities for green and sustainable technologies and industrial procedures based on metahesis have been identified. Largely exemplified was the utility of this broadly applicable strategy in organic synthesis, for accessing natural products and pharmaceuticals, and also its ability to fit in the manufacture of smart and nanostructured materials, self-assemblies with nanoscale morphologies, macromolecular engineering.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organic synthesis is a vibrant and rapidly evolving field; we can now cyclize amines directly onto alkenes. Like the first two books in this series, Organic Synthesis: State of the Art 2003-2005 and Organic Synthesis: State of the Art 2005-2007, this reference leads readers quickly to the most important recent developments. Two years of Taber's popular weekly online column, "Organic Chemistry Highlights", as featured on the organic-chemistry.org website, are consolidated here, with cumulative indices of all three volumes in this series. Important topics that are covered range from powerful new methods for C-C bond construction to asymmetric organocatalysis and direct C-H functionalization. This go-to reference focuses on the most important recent developments in organic synthesis, and includes a succinct analysis of the significance and applicability of each new synthetic method. It details and analyzes more than twenty complex total syntheses, including the Sammakia synthesis of the Macrolide RK-397, the Ley synthesis of Rapamycin, and the Kobayashi synthesis of (-)-Norzoanthamine.

Book Advances in Transition Metal Mediated Heterocyclic Synthesis

Download or read book Advances in Transition Metal Mediated Heterocyclic Synthesis written by Daniel Sole and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2018-05-17 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Transition-Metal Mediated Heterocyclic Synthesis provides an overview of recent catalytic reactions involving transition metals to produce heterocyclic compounds. The book is organized according to the type of transformation used to achieve the synthesis of the heterocyclic systems (mainly aza- and oxa-heterocycles). As such, it covers recent applications on the synthesis of heterocycles, also describing the details of the novel transformations in a didactic manner to motivate readers in search of new catalytic processes. The editors have included state-of-the-art strategies, including transition-metal reactions involving unsaturated systems (reactions of allenes, new gold(I)-catalyzed reactions, and Prins reaction). Chapters highlight the versatility of organopalladium chemistry dealing with carbonylative transformations, C-H activation reactions, coupling processes, and the control of the ambiphilic character of organopalladium species. Finally, the book discusses new reactions leading to heterocycles based on C-H activation processes catalyzed by other metals (Rh, Ru, Co). Written by an outstanding team of authors who are leading experts in organometallic chemistry and organic synthesis, this book is a valuable resource not only for chemists mainly focused on synthesis, but also for those interested in reaction mechanisms involving transition metals. Helpfully organized by transformation type to stimulate the search for new synthetic processes Completely illustrated and written by global experts Includes thoughtfully selected strategies chosen by the editors to exemplify the state-of-the-art of the subject, including transition-metal reactions involving unsaturated systems, organopalladium chemistry, and metal-catalyzed C-H activation

Book Towards the Total Synthesis of Amphidinolide T Family

Download or read book Towards the Total Synthesis of Amphidinolide T Family written by Flavien Labre and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amphidinolides T are challenging natural targets for the total synthesis community because of their unique structural architecture. This thesis describes the investigations of the establishment of a novel and convenient route to synthesise four members of the natural product family, amphidinolides T1 and T3-5, from a common late-stage intermediate. The key transformations towards the synthetic pathway are ring formation reactions. The trans-tetrahydrofuran ring is forged efficiently via diastereoselective [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of an oxonium ylide from diazo-generated metal carbenoids. Coupling of a side chain is achieved using a sequence of esterification and RCM reactions. Alternatively, a one-pot RCM followed by hydrogenation is described to shorten the synthetic route.

Book Total Synthesis of Amphidinolide E and Amphidinolide E Stereoisomers

Download or read book Total Synthesis of Amphidinolide E and Amphidinolide E Stereoisomers written by Porino J. Va and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Detailed in the following thesis are stereocontrolled syntheses of four amphidinolide E stereoisomers: amphidinolide E, 2- epi -amphidinolide E, 19- epi -amphidinolide E, and 2- epi -19- epi -amphidinolide E. Preliminary studies targeting amphidinolide E led to the inadvertent syntheses of 2- epi -amphidinolide E and 2- epi -19- epi -amphidinolide E due to an unexpected and highly selective C2 inversion during the modified Yamaguchi esterification step involving the (2 S, 3 S) (CO) 3 Fe-complexed dienoic acid. Ultimately, this C2 inversion phenomenon was discovered and use of the (2 S, 3 R) (CO) 3 Fe-complexed dienoic acid enabled the syntheses of amphidinolide E and 19- epi -amphidinolide E. Featured in the synthetic route is the synthesis of the tetrahydrofuran core of amphidinolide E through a highly diastereoselective [3+2] annulation reaction. Also noteworthy, are the synthesis of the 19-membered macrocycle via a ring closing metathesis reaction and use of the (CO) 3 Fe-unit as a diene protecting group to enable an efficient esterification of the hindered alcohol substrate.
