This book was released on 2018-05-22 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A gauge or gage is a device used to make measurements, or in order to display certain dimensional information. A wide variety of tools exist which serve such functions, ranging from simple pieces of material to large and complex pieces of machinery. This volume contains a detailed handbook on the design, construction, and use of these tools, as well as the various ways they can be used in manufacturing. Contents include: "Gage Making; Fundamentals, Practice, Development and Efficiency of the Tools," "Accurate test and Inspecting Gages, Electric and Other Measuring Machines Together with Special Indicators for Inspecting Duplicate Work," "Lathe, Planer, Surface and Universal Gages and Indicators," etc. Many vintage books like this are increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now complete with a specially-commissioned new introduction on the subject of metal work. First published in 1908.

Book Gages Gaging and Inspection

Download or read book Gages Gaging and Inspection written by Douglas Thomas Hamilton and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-13 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Gages, Gaging and Inspection: A Comprehensive Treatise Covering the Limit System, Measuring Machines, and Measuring Tools and Gages for Originating and Comparing Measurements in the Manufacturing and Inspection Departments, Including Means for Measuring and Inspecting Screw Threads An The development of interchangeable manufacture has made necessary a complete revolution in the gaging and inspection systems employed in the mechanical industries. The intro duction of the limit system in manufacturing has changed many of the methods previously in vogue. The intensive manufacture of arms and ammunition during the past few years has also more than ever indicated the necessity of accurate and reliable means of gaging and inspection. N 0 book has been published in the past dealing exclusively with this subject, nor dealing compre hensively enough with it to meet the requirements at the present time, and for this reason the present volume has been prepared with a view to cover the principles and the practical application of the limit system of interchangeable manufacturing, and to describe the principal tools and gages that are employed in this work in leading manufacturing establishments in the country. Book The Gauge Block Handbook

  • Publisher : Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
  • Release : 2014-02-19
  • ISBN : 9781495431944

Download or read book The Gauge Block Handbook written by Ted Doiron and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2014-02-19 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook is a both a description of the current practice at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and a compilation of the theory and lore of gauge block calibration. Most of the chapters are nearly self-contained so that the interested reader can, for example, get information on the cleaning and handling of gauge blocks without having to read the chapters on measurement schemes or process control, etc. This partitioning of the material has led to some unavoidable repetition of material between chapters. The basic structure of the handbook is from the theoretical to the practical. Chapter 1: basic concepts and definitions of length and units; Chapter 2: history of gauge blocks, appropriate definitions and a discussion of pertinent national and international standards; Chapter 3: physical characteristics of gauge blocks, including thermal, mechanical and optical properties; Chapter 4: a description of statistical process control (SPC) and measurement assurance (MA) concepts; and Chapters 5 and 6: details of the mechanical comparisons and interferometric techniques used for gauge block calibrations. Full discussions of the related uncertainties and corrections are included. Finally, the appendices cover in more detail some important topics in metrology and gauge block calibration.
