Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do Belle, Dorothy, and Snow White all have in common? They have issues with the men in their lives. Interestingly enough, weve been spoon fed these tales of relational dysfunction since the crib, so no wonder half of all marriages suffer the fate of divorce. Often it is the expectations we learn as children that dictate the outcomes of adult life. If we are to grow and develop into mature, functional relationships it will take revisiting the lessons of the past to create a better tomorrow. In this farcical yet relevant work, Life Coach Early Jackson approaches the cycle of bad relationships from a fairy tale vantage. Women learn there is not a new problem that men present. In fact, these issues are as old as the stories we heard as children. Youll learn from the Real Housewives of Fantasy what it takes to live Happily ever after.

She has therefore fled home, her half-siblings, and the father who really should’ve been her uncle. Unfortunately, it’s the middle of winter. Book Redemption Songs

  • Author : Lea VanderVelde
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press

Download or read book Redemption Songs written by Lea VanderVelde and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2014-09-10 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Dred Scott case is the most notorious example of slaves suing for freedom. Most examinations of the case focus on its notorious verdict, and the repercussions that the decision set off-especially the worsening of the sectional crisis that would eventually lead to the Civil War-were extreme. In conventional assessment, a slave losing a lawsuit against his master seems unremarkable. But in fact, that case was just one of many freedom suits brought by slaves in the antebellum period; an example of slaves working within the confines of the U.S. legal system (and defying their masters in the process) in an attempt to win the ultimate prize: their freedom. And until Dred Scott, the St. Louis courts adhered to the rule of law to serve justice by recognizing the legal rights of the least well-off. For over a decade, legal scholar Lea VanderVelde has been building and examining a collection of more than 300 newly discovered freedom suits in St. Louis. In Redemption Songs, VanderVelde describes twelve of these never-before analyzed cases in close detail. Through these remarkable accounts, she takes readers beyond the narrative of the Dred Scott case to weave a diverse tapestry of freedom suits and slave lives on the frontier. By grounding this research in St. Louis, a city defined by the Antebellum frontier, VanderVelde reveals the unique circumstances surrounding the institution of slavery in westward expansion. Her investigation shows the enormous degree of variation among the individual litigants in the lives that lead to their decision to file suit for freedom. Although Dred Scott's loss is the most widely remembered, over 100 of the 300 St. Louis cases that went to court resulted in the plaintiff's emancipation. Beyond the successful outcomes, the very existence of these freedom suits helped to reshape the parameters of American slavery in the nation's expansion. Thanks to VanderVelde's thorough and original research, we can hear for the first time the vivid stories of a seemingly powerless group who chose to use a legal system that was so often arrayed against them in their fight for freedom from slavery.

Book White House Special Handbook

Download or read book White House Special Handbook written by Mikhail Kryzhanovskiĭ and published by Algora Publishing. This book was released on 2007 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is the book that guides the President of the United States from the first in the Oval Office and to the day he (or she?) walks out for the last time. In fact, the strategies and mindset recommended in these pages are essential tools for capturing the Presidency, much less wielding it. The international scene today is either a madhouse or the product of extraordinarily cynical techniques such as these, applied with cold cunning, by our nations leaders. This handbook provides a comparison of the world's premier intelligence agencies, discusses tactics of surveillance, war, and public persuasion, practical advice on political maneuvering at the local, national and international levels. A rational, results-based handbook, it is destined to be a secret favorite of politicians, agents of the special services, CEOs and corporate boards for the next hundred years to come. And for the many other ambitious contenders in the world of winner-take-all bare-knuckles capitalism. The author, who cites decades of insider knowledge at the KGB and the CIA, says he originally compiled this book upon a request from Washington anonymous, of course. - Publisher.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why our workplaces are authoritarian private governments—and why we can’t see it One in four American workers says their workplace is a “dictatorship.” Yet that number almost certainly would be higher if we recognized employers for what they are—private governments with sweeping authoritarian power over our lives. Many employers minutely regulate workers’ speech, clothing, and manners on the job, and employers often extend their authority to the off-duty lives of workers, who can be fired for their political speech, recreational activities, diet, and almost anything else employers care to govern. In this compelling book, Elizabeth Anderson examines why, despite all this, we continue to talk as if free markets make workers free, and she proposes a better way to think about the workplace, opening up space for discovering how workers can enjoy real freedom.

Book Inclusive Special Education

Download or read book Inclusive Special Education written by Garry Hornby and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-08-20 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much has been written about special education and about inclusive education, but there have been few attempts to pull these two concepts and approaches together. This book does just that: sets special education within the context of inclusive education. It posits that to include, effectively, all children with special educational needs in schools requires an integration of both concepts, approaches, and techniques. It has never been more timely to publish a book that helps professionals who work with schools, such as psychologists, special education professionals, and counselors, to identify effective practices for children with special needs and provide guidelines for implementing these in inclusive schools.
