Download or read book Geosynchronous SAR System and Signal Processing written by Teng Long and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-20 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book chiefly addresses the analysis and design of geosynchronous synthetic aperture radar (GEO SAR) systems, focusing on the algorithms, analysis, methods used to compensate for ionospheric influences, and validation experiments for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Further, it investigates special problems in the GEO SAR context, such as curved trajectories, the Earth’s rotation, the ‘non-stop-and-go’ model, high-order Doppler parameters, temporal-variant ionospheric errors etc. These studies can also be extended to SAR with very high resolution and long integration time. Given the breadth and depth of its coverage, scientists and engineers in SAR and advanced graduate students in related areas will greatly benefit from this book.

Book excerpt: A comprehensive review of global ionospheric research from the polar caps to equatorial regions It's more than a century since scientists first identified the ionosphere, the layer of the Earth’s upper atmosphere that is ionized by solar and cosmic radiation. Our understanding of this dynamic part of the near-Earth space environment has greatly advanced in recent years thanks to new observational technologies, improved numerical models, and powerful computing capabilities. Ionosphere Dynamics and Applications provides a comprehensive overview of historic developments, recent advances, and future directions in ionospheric research. Volume highlights include: Behavior of the ionosphere in different regions from the poles to the equator Distinct characteristics of the high-, mid-, and low-latitude ionosphere Observational results from ground- and space-based instruments Ionospheric impacts on radio signals and satellite operations How earthquakes and tsunamis on Earth cause disturbances in the ionosphere The American Geophysical Union promotes discovery in Earth and space science for the benefit of humanity. Its publications disseminate scientific knowledge and provide resources for researchers, students, and professionals. Download or read book Electromagnetic and Acoustic Wave Tomography written by Nathan Blaunstein and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-06-14 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the development of radio-wave tomography methods as a means of remote non-destructive testing, diagnostics of the internal structure of semi-transparent media, and reconstruction of the shapes of opaque objects based on multi-angle sounding. It describes physical-mathematical models of systems designed to reconstruct images of hidden objects, based on tomographic processing of multi-angle remote measurements of scattered radio and acoustic (ultrasonic) wave radiation.

Book Ionospheric Prediction and Forecasting

Download or read book Ionospheric Prediction and Forecasting written by Bruno Zolesi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-09-25 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes how to predict and forecast the state of planet Earth’s ionosphere under quiet and disturbed conditions in terms of dynamical processes in the weakly ionized plasma media of the upper atmosphere and their relation to available modern measurements and modelling techniques. It explains the close relationship between the state of the media and the radio wave propagation conditions via this media. The prediction and forecasting algorithms, methods and models are oriented towards providing a practical approach to ionospherically dependent systems design and engineering. Proper understanding of the ionosphere is of fundamental practical importance because it is an essential part of telecommunication and navigation systems that use the ionosphere to function or would function much better in its nonappearance on the Earth and on any planet with an atmosphere.

It also examines alternative navigation technologies based on other signals-of-opportunity and sensors and offers a comprehensive treatment on integrated PNT systems for consumer and commercial applications. Volume 1 of Position, Navigation, and Timing Technologies in the 21st Century: Integrated Satellite Navigation, Sensor Systems, and Civil Applications contains three parts and focuses on the satellite navigation systems, technologies, and engineering and scientific applications. It starts with a historical perspective of GPS development and other related PNT development. Current global and regional navigation satellite systems (GNSS and RNSS), their inter-operability, signal quality monitoring, satellite orbit and time synchronization, and ground- and satellite-based augmentation systems are examined. Recent progresses in satellite navigation receiver technologies and challenges for operations in multipath-rich urban environment, in handling spoofing and interference, and in ensuring PNT integrity are addressed. A section on satellite navigation for engineering and scientific applications finishes off the volume. Volume 2 of Position, Navigation, and Timing Technologies in the 21st Century: Integrated Satellite Navigation, Sensor Systems, and Civil Applications consists of three parts and addresses PNT using alternative signals and sensors and integrated PNT technologies for consumer and commercial applications. Book Computerized Tomographic Investigation of the Ionosphere

Download or read book Computerized Tomographic Investigation of the Ionosphere written by Kalyan Bhuyan and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2011-12 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computerized tomography (CT) technique has had a revolutionary impact in the field of medical diagnostic imaging and is now routinely used to produce high quality images of a section of the human body. The mathematical foundation of CT was laid as early as 1917 by Radon. The technique has also been applied to the study of ocean structures and geological formations. CT technique can be used for investigation of the vertical and horizontal structure of the ionosphere when the line integral of the parameter (e.g. electron density) is the measured data through the region of interest. In this dissertation, efforts have been made to address several issues related to the meaningful reconstruction of the ionosphere using CT technique. Efforts have also been made to investigate the electron density distribution of the low-latitude and mid-latitude ionosphere through tomographic reconstruction using the Generalized Singular Value Decomposition algorithm.
