Book Table Tennis Triples

Download or read book Table Tennis Triples written by Guenter Arndt and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most existing table tennis teams never play each other as a team. "Triples" for the first time allows three-person teams to play "serious" table tennis. The book explains its rationale, equipment and its manufacture, its rules, and its integration into existing table tennis events. It strives to enhance the already popular image of table tennis by adding a "true team sport" to its repertoire, thereby increasing its player, spectator and media appeal. Part 1 establishes the theoretical basis of Triples and provides detailed information on the design and manufacture of its hardware. In analysing its geometrical and physical aspects, it shows that playing conditions in Triples are equivalent to or better than in the conventional game - e.g. a greater action space and shot variety. Hence various novel table and net designs are described, including a reversible rectangular-to-round "retrofit" table tennis table system. Part 2 contains everything one needs to know to play the game, presenting a detailed account of the Triples rules and their reasoning. These include some concepts new to table tennis, such as "Tie Break", "Shoot-Out", and "Draw" game outcomes. Details on scoring, umpiring, match progress displays and possible team strategies are presented, including point-by-point score sheets and team events involving singles, doubles and Triples matches. Part 3 provides a glimpse into the future. It describes how Triples equipment can be used to create interesting new practice and recreational games, including 4-player "Quadruples", and how electronic sensors and computerised displays will soon lead to the "intelligent table tennis table". With its 60 figures, 12 tables, 45 references and 3 "new terms" registers the book is lucid and user-friendly. Collectively it invites table tennis players, coaches, organisers and administrators alike to try out the new game - and in this has the support of the International Table Tennis Federation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the bright lights of London’s Holland Park into the power cuts and very rural life of Lagos state in Nigeria, all in the blink of an eye. This is the true story of a family torn apart by International Parental Child Abduction. In September 1973, Yemi was just seven years old when he and his younger sister were taken away from England by their dad without their mum’s knowledge or consent. They lived and grew up in Nigeria for over fourteen years, where the only communication they had with their mum was by letters. Without social media, computers or mobile phones, how does a mother track down her missing children? How do the children adapt to the sudden change of lifestyle? This is the story of the events through the eyes of that seven-year-old child, from the moment he realised he was in a different country. Yemi relates the stark change of culture, the new family and the voyage of self-discovery. The book covers his roller-coaster young life of apprehensions and ecstasy, his rebellions, and his loves. It follows his anger as he grew from boy to teenager and his eventual reconciliation with himself and his parents. What kind of man would that boy grow up to be? Time Will Tell. Many years would pass before she would be put in such a position. Her thinking of protection would include doing things above the law. She had no qualms of doing what she had to do. Her marriage to Jack Cordell provided her and their children a very comfortable and happy life. This fairy tale existence would abruptly come to an end. After visiting her sister, she started that long drive down a dark road in the Hollywood hills home. Miriam picked up a hitchhiker starting the chain of events that would affect the lives of the Cordell family for the next thirty decades; of world wars, espionage, child ignored by a father, bribery, sibling rivalry, a mother’s mistrust and secrets kept and murder. Even when the Cordell sons grew into men, Jack continued his animosity toward the younger son Trace, while twins Jack Jr., and Al were doted by their father. Miriam knew of her husband’s treatment of their youngest son was because of that night she was attacked. Jack Jr. and Al had blond hair and blue eyes like their father while Trace had dark brown hair and brown eyes like his mother. It just added into Jack Sr.’s belief that Trace was not his son. Miriam would bide her time for the right time and place to make Jack believe differently. It took a murder for the truth of Trace’ conception to finally come out but many years later. After the murder of Miriam’s antagonist, Jack pleaded guilty to manslaughter thus protecting his family from the truth of the true murderer. Once out of prison, Jack kept his secret from Miriam and his sons. The whole sorted story would come out in a letter penned by Jack to his sons after he and Miriam had passed away. At the end, the Cordell sons vowed to help those who suffered in the hands of unscrupulous people, no matter what for love of family.

Injuries played a part but limited talent was a greater curse. As he plummeted down the leagues, he had something few footballers possess: a stud-sharp memory and an ability to write humorously about the sport he loves. Kicked into Touch has become an enigma - selling more than a million copies yet still retaining cult status within the sport and among fans. This new version has been completely revised, extended and updated, with a set of photographs included. Fred Eyre's book is set to reach a new generation of football fans looking for an antidote to the glib reportage of a sport lost to show business.

Book MYRIAD OF RECOLLECTIONS

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Till 13th Century, the Kayasths were still considered as the hereditary professional scribes who maintained land revenue records, in the court language, Urdu or Persian. Being well versed in accountancy and the vernacular, they were much sought after by the Mughal nobility for their skill and efficiency in governance. Most Kayasth families have rock solid foundations and are truly joint even now. They were way ahead of their times in education, cultural heritage and social customs. After independence, the Mathurs emerged as front runners in the race for civil services & the Railways and occupied top slots in civil aviation, academia, medical and engineering services. This sometimes made the political hierarchy nervous. Before proceeding to read Wikipedia’s description of Dehradun as the capital city of Uttarakhand State, it would be pertinent to read about its colourful past. It formed part of the “ Shah Haroonpur” region of Delhi Sultanate circa AD 1211. Changing hands numerous times, Saharanpur District came into the possession of the British East India Company with the Doon Valley as its crown jewel. Grounded on the salubrious environs of the Doon Valley and its cantonments at Dehradun, Chakrata and Mussoorie, ‘ the son of the soil’, Dinesh has been able to provide a unique glimpse of his times and trace his family ancestry all the way back to circa AD 1628.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The new edition of Sport and Exercise Psychology asks four fundamental questions that get to the heart of this flourishing discipline: What inner states influence what people think, feel, and behave? How can people manage or self-regulate their own inner states? How can sport and exercise psychology professionals help people manage their inner states? Is sport psychology just a placebo effect? Taking an applied perspective that bridges the gap between sport and exercise, the book answers these questions by covering the key topics in the field, including confidence, anxiety, self-regulation, stress and self-esteem. This is a comprehensive and engaging overview of an evolving discipline, and will be essential reading to any student of sport and exercise psychology. It will also be of huge interest to athletes and coaches seeking an accessible understanding of the role of psychology in sport.
