Book Captive Hearts A Dark Mafia Romance Collection

Download or read book Captive Hearts A Dark Mafia Romance Collection written by Abbi Cook and published by Dark Vine Media LLC. This book was released on 2020-12-11 with total page 808 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the first time, get the three Captive Hearts series books in one volume! Includes Behind The Mask, Beneath The Surface, and Beyond The Lies. Behind The Mask I’m a bad man. I never said I was anything else. I shouldn’t want the beautiful brunette who lives in that suburban cul-de-sac, but one glance and I can’t think of anything else but taking her. The innocence in her dark eyes tells me she has no idea what life in my world is like. But she’s going to find out. I control everything around me, and that includes Kaia now. At first, she’ll beg for her freedom, but it won’t take long before she’s begging for something else. Her world has changed. She’s mine now. Beneath The Surface He took me from my safe little house and now I’m his. Cason Varens, the terrifying and brutally beautiful enforcer for the Varens crime family, plucked me from my life to punish my father. I may be young, but I know how this works. Men like Cason take no prisoners. Unless you make them want something more than blood and death. He says for the next seven days, I’m his. His to have. His to take. Payment for giving up a week of his life for the job. But what he doesn’t know is I’ve got a plan, and I’ll do whatever I have to so I’m alive at the end of that week. To him, it’s just seven days. To me, it might be the rest of my life. Beyond The Lies He’s claimed me, and now my life is in his hands. I only know him by his first name. King. Beautiful and savage, he promises if I obey him, I’ll get out of this alive. But that’s not how the world works, especially with men like him. I want to hate him, but I can’t deny what he makes me feel. I tell myself it’s the way I’ll trick him to get free, but will I be able to leave him if I get the chance? We’re playing a dangerous game in a place neither one of us belongs. King says everything he seems to be is a lie, except when it comes to me. Before this is all over, the two of us will see if that’s the truth. Publisher's Note: Captive Hearts A Dark Romance Mafia Collection contains themes which may be disturbing to some readers. Book A Stirling Diary

Download or read book A Stirling Diary written by Shelley D. Lane and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2010-07-21 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: She peered into the steaming crater of Mt. Aetna, slid up an icy mountain in Bavaria, and was marched to a shabby police station in Tunisia. She also had some important decisions to make while she spent her junior year abroad as an exchange student at the University of Stirling in Scotland. Should she remain dependent on her noncommittal boyfriend or should she risk loneliness and abandon her dreams of their future? Should she focus on marriage, attend graduate school, or should she begin a career? What should she do with her life? The rousing narrative in A Stirling Diary chronicles humorous encounters with Brit-speak, rollicking adventures in Europe and Africa, and the appreciation of and affection for the Scottish people. Shelley shares honest and occasionally raw descriptions of her struggles to adapt not only to various cultures but also to discover her own self-worth in the process. A Stirling Diary is not just a fascinating travel journal; its also an inspiring personal story that illustrates the transformation of an insecure young girl to an empowered young woman who looks inward to survive betrayal and depression.

Book Brief Abstract of Lower Norfolk County and Norfolk County Wills 1637

Download or read book Brief Abstract of Lower Norfolk County and Norfolk County Wills 1637 written by Charles Fleming McIntosh and published by . This book was released on 1914 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About four or five years ago, the Abstractor of these wills was employed to examine the titles to a large number of timber tracts, situated in Norfolk County, and to carry the same back to the original grants. The first obstacle he found in his way was the lack of an Index, for the years 1637 to 1753, and it was, therefore, necessary to index deeds and wills for that period. This index required the reading, page by page, of the first nineteen volumes in the Norfolk County Clerk's Office, and formed the basis upon which the present work was made. In using this Abstract, it is well to bear in mind the brief development of Norfolk County: Norfolk County was originally a part of Elizabeth City County, formed in 1634. About 1636 that portion of Elizabeth City County, lying on the south side of the James River, was formed into New Norfolk County. About 1637 New Norfolk County was divided into Upper Norfolk and Lower Norfolk Counties; Upper Norfolk County later became Nansemond County, and in 1691 Lower Norfolk was divided into Princess Anne County and Norfolk County. -- Preface.

Book In the Shadow of the Wolf

Download or read book In the Shadow of the Wolf written by Albert C. Dawson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-02-04 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Shadow of the Wolf Except for three stories, Redcoat, Flight, and A Soldiers Story, the remaining accounts explore adventures occurring during the nineteenth century, mainly the settling of the western frontier and the turbulence of the Civil War. As in the previous two volumes, Life at Stake and Ryley and Other Stories of Adventure, each story portrays how individuals confront and cope with extreme physical and emotional challenges during life-deciding moments. Any protagonist, whether in a movie, novel, short story, or TV episode, invites the viewer or reader to vicariously place himself or herself in that same situation, wondering what decision or action he or she might have taken under similar circumstances. On this premise, we, as readers and viewers, commonly develop an estimation of our own strength, will, courage, worth, and ability to survive. It is to be hoped that the characters in these stories will stimulate such interest and thought. But, primarily, it must be remembered that fiction is to be enjoyed. As a writer, it is my sincere hope that I have achieved this to some degree of satisfaction.

If there’s one thing Hap Collins and Leonard Pine like, it’s trouble—and they especially like getting paid to find it. So when their friend and sometime boss Marvin Harmon asks the boys to look into a cold-case double homicide, they’re happy to oblige. It turns out that both victims were set to inherit some serious money, and one of them ran with an honest-to-goodness vampire cult. The more closely Hap and Leonard look over the crime-scene photos, the more trouble they see. The image of a red devil’s head painted on a tree is just the beginning—a little research turns up a slew of murders with that same fiendish signature. And if things aren’t weird enough, Leonard has taken to wearing a deestalker cap . . . Will this be the case that finally sends Hap over the edge?

Book Born in the Delta

  • Author : Margaret Bolsterli
  • Publisher : University of Arkansas Press

  • ISBN : 1557286167

Download or read book Born in the Delta written by Margaret Bolsterli and published by University of Arkansas Press. This book was released on 2000-07-01 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this gracefully written memoir, Margaret Jones Bolsterli recounts her experiences as a lively, observant girl coming of age on an Arkansas cotton farm during the 1930s and 1940s. The Mississippi River's broad, flat floodplain provides the setting for her vivid strokes of memory and history each portraying key elements of the "southern sensibility." Bolsterli's themes include the southerner's strong sense of place, the penchant for stories rather than true dialog, a caste system based on formality and race, the underlying current of violence, and the repressive function of evangelical religion. She also examines manners, the patriarchal family structure, the "southern belle" concept, and the persistence of the memory of the Civil War. A fascinating chapter on food indicates how African and European customs are melded in southern cuisine to include chicken, pork, "cracklin' bread," gravy and biscuits, field peas, turnip greens, butter beans, devil's food cake, and dill pickles. Comparable to Shirley Abbott's Womenfolks, Born in the Delta is a valuable resource for those interested in southern history and culture, as well as readers who just enjoy a good story, well-told.
