Book I Love You Because I Love You

Download or read book I Love You Because I Love You written by Sharon Joyce S. Valdez and published by Ukiyoto Publishing. This book was released on 2021-03-06 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dreams and aspirations, triumphs, and failures are aspects of family life that we normally encounter. The way we react and interpret those moments are greatly influenced by societal standards. But what if our family mechanics do not conform to the “norm” of our society? What are we going to do? Where do we start? How do we face the perception of other people? How do we counter our own biases? Living with a family member with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) does not conform to the norm of society. Cultural practices and traditions do not include autism in its design. The confusion and struggles of the members of the family is greatly magnified by the environment which is supposed to shelter and support it. This book is a simple record of an autism parents’ journey of discovery, struggles, and hard-earned triumphs to conquer an adversary that they cannot see but has a profound effect on the very foundation of their family. This book will give you a glimpse of the live observations and some background literature on the characteristics of a child with ASD. It will include: •Terms about ASD and their corresponding operational definitions •Proactive and creative approaches in solving obstacles •Practical teaching methods and behavioral modification techniques that may work for you •Reflections on philosophical thoughts on education related to ASD •Stories on ups and downs of taking care of a child diagnosed with ASD •Realizations on the different approaches that were used in addressing some of the profound characteristics of a child with ASD Experts are always saying that every child with ASD has unique fixations and manifestations thus there is no “one size fits all” approach. In line with this, this book may provide you with an idea or guide in approaching ASD. Although every child with ASD is unique, it may be inferred that they share similar characteristics but only different in degree of expression. Living with autism surely changes the mechanics of a family’s life but does not mean that it may hinder it to be a happy one.

Download or read book The Myth of the ADHD Child Revised Edition written by Thomas Armstrong and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2017-08-29 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fully revised and updated edition of the groundbreaking book on tackling the root causes of children’s attention and behavior problems rather than masking the symptoms with medication. More than twenty years after Dr. Thomas Armstrong's Myth of the A.D.D. Child first published, he presents much needed updates and insights in this substantially revised edition. When The Myth of the A.D.D. Child was first published in 1995, Dr. Thomas Armstrong made the controversial argument that many behaviors labeled as ADD or ADHD are simply a child's active response to complex social, emotional, and educational influences. In this fully revised and updated edition, Dr. Armstrong shows readers how to address the underlying causes of a child's attention and behavior problems in order to help their children implement positive changes in their lives. The rate of ADHD diagnosis has increased sharply, along with the prescription of medications to treat it. Now needed more than ever, this book includes fifty-one new non-drug strategies to help children overcome attention and behavior problems, as well as updates to the original fifty proven strategies.

Book Kingdom of Children

  • Author : Mitchell Stevens
  • Publisher : Princeton University Press
  • Release : 2009-02-09
  • ISBN : 140082480X
  • Pages : 243 pages

Download or read book Kingdom of Children written by Mitchell Stevens and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2009-02-09 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than one million American children are schooled by their parents. As their ranks grow, home schoolers are making headlines by winning national spelling bees and excelling at elite universities. The few studies conducted suggest that homeschooled children are academically successful and remarkably well socialized. Yet we still know little about this alternative to one of society's most fundamental institutions. Beyond a vague notion of children reading around the kitchen table, we don't know what home schooling looks like from the inside. Sociologist Mitchell Stevens goes behind the scenes of the homeschool movement and into the homes and meetings of home schoolers. What he finds are two very different kinds of home education--one rooted in the liberal alternative school movement of the 1960s and 1970s and one stemming from the Christian day school movement of the same era. Stevens explains how this dual history shapes the meaning and practice of home schooling today. In the process, he introduces us to an unlikely mix of parents (including fundamentalist Protestants, pagans, naturalists, and educational radicals) and notes the core values on which they agree: the sanctity of childhood and the primacy of family in the face of a highly competitive, bureaucratized society. Kingdom of Children aptly places home schoolers within longer traditions of American social activism. It reveals that home schooling is not a random collection of individuals but an elaborate social movement with its own celebrities, networks, and characteristic lifeways. Stevens shows how home schoolers have built their philosophical and religious convictions into the practical structure of the cause, and documents the political consequences of their success at doing so. Ultimately, the history of home schooling serves as a parable about the organizational strategies of the progressive left and the religious right since the 1960s.Kingdom of Children shows what happens when progressive ideals meet conventional politics, demonstrates the extraordinary political capacity of conservative Protestantism, and explains the subtle ways in which cultural sensibility shapes social movement outcomes more generally.

Book Practical Tips on Child Upbringing

Download or read book Practical Tips on Child Upbringing written by Nathan E. Effik and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-07-16 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It does not matter how much tips we have to offer or not offer, but what matters most is how interested we are in making our child what God created them to be. What matters most is the effort we as parents have made to acquire more knowledge and information to equip ourselves in order to be able to raise children that are really the ambassadors of Christ. And what also matters most is the kind of foundation you have laid for your children. We Christians, including our children, ought to display the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:2220).
