Download or read book Pere Alberch written by Diego Rasskin-Gutman and published by Universitat de València. This book was released on 2011-11-28 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Barcelona 2020 written by Jordi Panyella and published by Edicions Saldonar. This book was released on 2020-06-15 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fact that a journalist of the written press, an editor for more than thirty years, suddenly starts writing with pictures, taking photos, can only mean two things: either he is gone mad or the world has been so reversed that it is not recognizable anymore. Jordi Panyella (Barcelona, 1966) is still writing in the newspaper El Punt Avui, as he always has, but the world has now changed radically. And specially in his city, following the brutal impact of the crisis of the Covid-19. Through a story woven with images taken during two months of confinement, Barcelona 2020 unfolds the every day life in the city, this wonderful city, its streets and its people during a unique spring, empty of life, full of fear and horror, struggles and hope. It is the visual chronicle of a historic event that will determine a whole generation. It is a unique story, full of emotions, the graphic testimony of unrepeatable days.

Download or read book La Pocha Nostra written by Guillermo Gómez-Peña and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-11-29 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: La Pocha Nostra: A Handbook for the Rebel Artist in a Post-Democratic Society marks a transformation from its sister book, Exercises for Rebel Artists, into a pedagogical matrix suited for use as a performance handbook and conceptual tool for artists, activists, theorists, pedagogues, and trans-disciplinary border crossers of all stripes. Featuring a newly reworked outline of La Pocha Nostra's overall pedagogy, and how it has evolved in the time of Trump, cartel violence, and the politics of social media, this new handbook presents deeper explanations of the interdisciplinary pedagogical practices developed by the group that has been labeled "the most influential Latino/a performance troupe of the past ten years." Co-written by Guillermo Gómez-Peña in collaboration with La Pocha Nostra’s artistic co-director Saúl García-López and edited by Paloma Martinez-Cruz, this highly anticipated follow-up volume raises crucial questions in the new neo-nationalist era. Drawing on field experience from ten years of touring, the authors blend original methods with updated and revised exercises, providing new material for teachers, universities, radical artists, curators, producers, and students. This book features: Introductions by the authors and editor to Pocha Nostra practice in a post-democratic society. Theoretical, historical, poetic, and pedagogical contexts for the methodology. Suggestions for how to use the book in the classroom and many other scenarios. Detailed, hands-on exercises for using Pocha Nostra-inspired methods in workshops. A step-by-step guide to creating large-scale group performances. New, unpublished photos of the Pocha Nostra methods in practice. Additional texts by Reverend Billy and Savitri D., Dragonfly, Francesca Carol Rolla, VestAndPage, Micha Espinosa, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Praba Pilar, L. M. Bogad, Anuradha Vikram, and Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens, among many others. The book is complemented by the new book Gómez-Peña Unplugged: Texts on Live Art, Social Practice and Imaginary Activism (2008–2019).

Download or read book Evolutionary Genetics of Fishes written by Bruce Turner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 651 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is my hope that this collection of reviews can be profitably read by all who are interested in evolutionary biology. However, I would like to specifically target it for two disparate groups of biologists seldom men tioned in the same sentence, classical ichthyologists and molecular biologists. Since classical times, and perhaps even before, ichthyologists have stood in awe at the tremendous diversity of fishes. The bulk of effort in the field has always been directed toward understanding this diversity, i. e. , extracting from it a coherent picture of evolutionary processes and lineages. This effort has, in turn, always been overwhelmingly based upon morphological comparisons. The practical advantages of such compari sons, especially the ease with which morphological data can be had from preserved museum specimens, are manifold. But considered objectively (outside its context of "tradition"), morphological analysis alone is a poor tool for probing evolutionary processes or elucidating relationships. The concepts of "relationship" and of "evolution" are inherently genetic ones, and the genetic bases of morphological traits are seldom known in detail and frequently unknown entirely. Earlier in this century, several workers, notably Gordon, Kosswig, Schmidt, and, in his salad years, Carl Hubbs, pioneered the application of genetic techniques and modes of reasoning to ichthyology. While certain that most contemporary ichth yologists are familiar with this body of work, I am almost equally certain that few of them regard it as pertinent to their own efforts.
