Book 19 Tiny Habits That Lead To Huge Results

Download or read book 19 Tiny Habits That Lead To Huge Results written by Nicolas Cole and published by . This book was released on 2020-08-13 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ★ Based on Nicolas Cole's viral article with more than 1,000,000 views! ★ Big changes don't happen overnight. They happen day by day, little by little-until all of a sudden, you've arrived. Nicolas Cole, one of the most-read personal development writers on the internet with more than 100 million views on his work, reveals to readers why the secret to success isn't about finding a shortcut-but building tiny habits that compound along the way. Part actionable advice, part vivid storytelling, 19 Tiny Habits is a quick read. Reflecting on the 19 tiny habits that have led to huge results in his own life, Cole credits these small daily actions as being the foundational elements of his successes in his late teens and 20s: "When I was 17 years old, I was one of the highest-ranked World of Warcraft players in North America, as well as one of the first bloggers in the emerging eSports industry with a viral blog." "At 22 years old, I discovered I'd been undiagnosed with Celiac Disease for the first 18 years of my life. I turned to bodybuilding to start over, find a sense of confidence, and turn my newfound boring diet of rice, chicken, and vegetables into an unfair advantage-putting on 70 pounds of muscle and transforming from a skinny, socially awkward teenager into a shredded fitness model." "By 24, I had graduated college with a degree in fiction writing and decided I wanted to start taking my writing more seriously. In less than 2 years, I became one of the most-read writers on the internet, the #1 writer on Quora (a platform with more than 200 million users), and one of Inc Magazine's Top 10 contributing writers." "And by 28 years old, I had quit my 9-5 job as a copywriter and turned my love for writing into a ghostwriting business called Digital Press. In less than 18 months, Digital Press became a multi-million-dollar agency with 20+ full-time employees working with more than 300 different Silicon Valley investors, executives, NYT best-selling authors, Grammy-winning musicians, Olympic athletes, and more." In this book, readers will not only hear Cole's story first hand, but also learn for themselves: Habits for happiness Habits for success Habits to improve focus, discipline, persistence, and drive Habits to change yourself (for the better) Habits to redefine the way you see your life 19 Tiny Habits That Lead To Huge Results will change the way you think about your life journey. Process over destination, mastery over achievement, Cole has found a way to turn relentless goal-setting into a way to know yourself better as a human being-achieving your goals, while being deeply fulfilled in the process. Book The Progress Principle

Download or read book The Progress Principle written by Teresa Amabile and published by Harvard Business Press. This book was released on 2011-07-19 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What really sets the best managers above the rest? It’s their power to build a cadre of employees who have great inner work lives—consistently positive emotions; strong motivation; and favorable perceptions of the organization, their work, and their colleagues. The worst managers undermine inner work life, often unwittingly. As Teresa Amabile and Steven Kramer explain in The Progress Principle, seemingly mundane workday events can make or break employees’ inner work lives. But it’s forward momentum in meaningful work—progress—that creates the best inner work lives. Through rigorous analysis of nearly 12,000 diary entries provided by 238 employees in 7 companies, the authors explain how managers can foster progress and enhance inner work life every day. The book shows how to remove obstacles to progress, including meaningless tasks and toxic relationships. It also explains how to activate two forces that enable progress: (1) catalysts—events that directly facilitate project work, such as clear goals and autonomy—and (2) nourishers—interpersonal events that uplift workers, including encouragement and demonstrations of respect and collegiality. Brimming with honest examples from the companies studied, The Progress Principle equips aspiring and seasoned leaders alike with the insights they need to maximize their people’s performance.

Download or read book Mini Habits written by Stephen Guise and published by Selective Entertainment LLC. This book was released on 2013-12-22 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover the Life-Changing Strategy of This Worldwide Bestseller in 17 Languages! Lasting Change For Early Quitters, Burnouts, The Unmotivated, And Everyone Else Too When I decided to start exercising consistently 10 years ago, this is what actually happened: I tried "getting motivated." It worked sometimes.I tried setting audacious big goals. I almost always failed them.I tried to make changes last. They didn't. Like most people who try to change and fail, I assumed that I was the problem. Then one afternoon--after another failed attempt to get motivated to exercise--I (accidentally) started my first mini habit. I initially committed to do one push-up, and it turned into a full workout. I was shocked. This "stupid idea" wasn't supposed to work. I was shocked again when my success with this strategy continued for months (and to this day). I had to consider that maybe I wasn't the problem in those 10 years of mediocre results. Maybe it was my prior strategies that were ineffective, despite being oft-repeated as "the way to change" in countless books and blogs. My suspicions were correct. Is There A Scientific Explanation For This? As I sought understanding, I found a plethora of scientific studies that had answers, with nobody to interpret them correctly. Based on the science--which you'll find peppered throughout Mini Habits--we've been doing it all wrong. You can succeed without the guilt, intimidation, and repeated failure associated with such strategies as "getting motivated," New Year's Resolutions, or even "just doing it." In fact, you need to stop using those strategies if they aren't giving you great results. Most popular strategies don't work well because they require you to fight against your subconscious brain (a fight not easily won). It's only when you start playing by your brain's rules and taking your human limitations seriously--as mini habits show you how to do--that you can achieve lasting change. What's A Mini Habit? A mini habit is a very small positive behavior that you force yourself to do every day; its "too small to fail" nature makes it weightless, deceptively powerful, and a superior habit-building strategy. You will have no choice but to believe in yourself when you're always moving forward. The barrier to the first step is so low that even depressed or "stuck" people can find early success and begin to reverse their lives right away. And if you think one push-up a day is too small to matter, I've got one heck of a story for you! Aim For The First Step They say when you aim for the moon, you'll land among the stars. Well, that doesn't make sense, as the moon is closer than the stars. I digress. The message is that you should aim very high and even if you fall short, you'll still get somewhere. I've found the opposite to be true in regards to productivity and healthy behaviors. When you aim for the moon, you won't do anything because it's too far away. But when you aim for the step in front of you, you might keep going and reach the moon. I've used the Mini Habits strategy to get into the best shape of my life, read 10x more books, and write 4x as many words. It started from requiring one push-up from myself every day. How ridiculous is that? Not so ridiculous when you consider the science of the brain, habits, and willpower. The Mini Habits system works because it's how our brains are designed to change. Note: This book isn't for eliminating bad habits (some principles could be useful for breaking habits). Mini Habits is a strategy to create permanent healthy habits in: exercise, writing, reading, thinking positively, meditating, drinking water, eating healthy foods, etc. Lasting change won't happen until you take that first step into a strategy that works. Give Mini Habits a try. You won't look back.

Download or read book Think Small written by Owain Service and published by Michael O'Mara Books. This book was released on 2017-04-06 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Governments around the world are using behavioural insights to help people achieve their goals. This great new book shows how you can use the same tools in your own life. Go nudge yourself!'- Richard Thaler, winner of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Economics A simple and accessible plan for success, based on seven scientifically tested steps that really work. We're often told to dream big, the sky's the limit and that nothing is impossible. While it is undoubtedly good advice to set yourself goals that have the potential to make you and those around you healthier and happier, how to reach those goals is often less clear. From getting fit or securing a new job to becoming a better manager or parent, simply setting your mind to something will rarely get you where you want to be, and big plans can quickly become overwhelming, leaving us feeling as though we've failed. Most of us set goals with very good intentions, so why do our best-laid plans so often go awry? When we're so committed to making positive changes and fulfilling our ambition at the outset, is there a way of avoiding the common roadblocks that stand between our goals and us? Thankfully, the answer is yes - and it's much easier to achieve than you might think. Working inside the world's first Nudge Unit, Owain Service and Rory Gallagher know the huge impact that small changes and clear plans, based on a scientific understanding of human behaviour, can have from an individual to an international level. For the first time, Think Smalltakes these successful approaches and translates them into an easy, simple framework that has the potential to make a big difference to all our lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At some point today you will have to influence or persuade someone - your boss, a co-worker, a customer, client, spouse, your kids, or even your friends. What is the smallest change you can make to your request, proposal or situation that will lead to the biggest difference in the outcome? In The small BIG, three heavyweights from the world of persuasion science and practice -- Steve Martin, Noah Goldstein and Robert Cialdini -- describe how, in today's information overloaded and stimulation saturated world, increasingly it is the small changes that you make that lead to the biggest differences. In the last few years more and more research - from fields such as neuroscience, cognitive psychology, social psychology, and behavioral economics - has helped to uncover an even greater understanding of how influence, persuasion and behavior change happens. Increasingly we are learning that it is not information per se that leads people to make decisions, but the context in which that information is presented. Drawing from extensive research in the new science of persuasion, the authors present lots of small changes (over 50 in fact) that can bring about momentous shifts in results. It turns out that anyone can significantly increase his or her ability to influence and persuade others, not by informing or educating people into change but instead by simply making small shifts in approach that link to deeply felt human motivations.

Book A Little Me

Download or read book A Little Me written by Amy Roloff and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-05-15 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the star of TLC’s hit reality show Little People BIG World comes a revelatory memoir that will inspire those who have long followed the Roloff’s and newcomers alike. “A Little Me by Amy Roloff is a feel-good, inspirational memoir about a remarkable woman who addresses challenges head-on with a positive outlook and deep faith.” – New York Journal of Books Whatever package you come in, life isn’t easier or harder than another’s because you are different physically. There may be more challenges, but still, everyone has challenges. “God doesn’t make mistakes.” For Amy Roloff, star of TLC’s hit reality show Little People, BIG World, her father’s words would repeatedly serve as an anchor, reminding her of her inherent worth and purpose, whenever feelings of insecurity and inadequacy surfaced and threatened to overwhelm her. In A Little Me, Amy shares what it was like growing up with achondroplasia dwarfism, how she struggled to overcome obstacles both physical and emotional—navigating the average-size world as a little person, dealing with a serious illness as a young girl, bullying, and issues of body image and unachievable beauty ideals—while learning, as we all must, to accept herself for who she is. Finally allowing herself to be vulnerable enough to open up to others, she learned that it’s worth risking possible rejection for a chance at genuine relationships. Amy’s memoir is an inspiring and at times heart-wrenching account of resilience and the strength of the human spirit to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
