Download or read book Tinker and Poo written by Bill Walker and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2005-06 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These are the life and times of Tink and Poo, two little Pekingese dogs as well as others who have crossed my path in life. These are short stories about little people and their families. I had time to watch these two in their day to day living. In all of their experiences I often wondered, "Just what are they up to now?" There was always some game, or some adventure these two would be getting into. Some people call a Peke a lap dog, not so for these two. They might be small in size, but never think they were faint in heart. I have heard it said that people look like and have mannerisms much like the dog that claims them. I think that may be true. I have never seen a dog that I didn't like, but Pekes fit my lifestyle. I think most people are that way, there is a certain type or size that fits them. Much like a Peke I want to do things my way. I am very independent and often wonder if they taught me to be independent.

Download or read book The Fifth Rule of Ten written by Gay Hendricks and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2016-08-09 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a fundraising event for the local Buddhist temple goes awry, Ten Norbu finds himself mired in a web of crime that only a former monk turned private investigator can solve Be mindful, both making and keeping commitments, that they be springboards to liberation, instead of suffering. —The Fifth Rule of Ten Ten and his fiancée, Julie, excitedly await the arrival of Ten’s best friends, Lama Yeshe and Lama Lobsang. Ten’s boyhood friends are now the Head Abbots at Tenzing’s former monastic home in India. Ten has helped Yeshe and Lobsang organize a fundraising event sponsored by the Los Angeles Buddhist temple where Tenzing first taught years ago, before shedding his robes to attend the police academy. The big feature of the event will be the unveiling of a sacred sand-painted mandala that the monks will construct in the center of the temple. At the premiere, however, a group of hooligans commit an outrageous act that catapults the story into action. To complicate matters, one of the novice lamas—a brilliant protégé of Lobsang’s—goes missing. Soon a series of strange crimes beset the city, some physical, some cyber. Each crime is unique, but all are mysteriously interconnected. Ten’s attempts to solve those crimes pull him into a dark mirror-world of his sacred Tibetan Buddhist tradition; soon he is engaged in a life-and-death battle with a powerful shadow presence. He joins forces with Yeshe, Lobsang, his ex-partner, Bill, and his hack-tivist buddy, Mike, to track down the Patient Zero of this epidemic of criminal chaos. Finally, he must face the truth: the source of the evil, and the solution, are a lot closer to home than he first thought.

Download or read book City written by Alessandro Baricco and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2007-12-18 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author of the international bestseller Silk now delivers a ravishing and wildly inventive novel about friendship, genius and its discontents, and the redemptive power of narrative. Somewhere in America lives a brilliant boy named Gould, an intellectual guided missile aimed at the Nobel Prize. His only companions are an imaginary giant and an imaginary mute. Improbably—and yet with impeccable logic--he falls into the care of Shatzy Shell, a young woman whose life up till that point has been equally devoid of human connection . Theirs is a relationship of stories and of stories within stories: of Gould’s evolving saga of an underdog boxer and the violent Western that Shatzy has been dictating into a tape recorder since the age of six. Out of these stories, Alessandro Baricco creates a masterpiece of metaphysical pulp fiction that recalls both Scheherazade and Italo Calvino. By turns exhilarating and deeply moving, City is irresistible.
