Download or read book Til Stress Do Us Part written by Elizabeth Earnshaw and published by Sounds True. This book was released on 2024-09-10 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if the problem isn’t your partner—it’s stress? This relatable and empowering guide offers indispensable tools to stress-proof your relationship. “Full of clear strategies for overcoming the overwhelm. A must-read!”—Eve Rodsky, New York Times bestselling author of Fair Play Every week, couples come into Elizabeth Earnshaw’s therapy room claiming their relationship issues are stressing them out. “The reality is just the opposite,” she says. “The unprecedented collective stress we all face today is the cause of many relationship challenges couples are experiencing.” With ’Til Stress Do Us Part, this trusted expert shares the tools you need to protect yourself and your relationship from distress—and restore harmony, understanding, and love. Beginning with an overview of many kinds of stress we face—from acute to chronic stress and even positive stress—Earnshaw uses client stories and personal experiences to reveal the visible and invisible strains on ourselves and our relationships. With warmth and humor, she shares research-backed practices to help you detect signs of overwhelm and take proactive measures to protect, refresh, and heal yourselves. You’ll discover journaling prompts, body-based exercises, scripts, boundary-setting guidelines, and more for letting go of pressures and restoring intimacy. Over the course of the book, you’ll learn how to: • Set effective boundaries • Self-soothe and self-regulate when life gets rough • Take responsibility for what makes you happy • Communicate with compassion rather than resentment • Identify and cope with what’s in your control... and what’s not • Reduce conflict and find more connection in your relationship “When we become partners, we commit to taking on life’s troubles together,” says Earnshaw. Here is an essential resource for helping you return your relationship to what it should be—a refuge from stress in a turbulent and demanding world in which we always have each other’s backs.

Book We Do This Til We Free Us

Download or read book We Do This Til We Free Us written by Mariame Kaba and published by Haymarket Books. This book was released on 2021-02-23 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times Bestseller “Organizing is both science and art. It is thinking through a vision, a strategy, and then figuring out who your targets are, always being concerned about power, always being concerned about how you’re going to actually build power in order to be able to push your issues, in order to be able to get the target to actually move in the way that you want to.” What if social transformation and liberation isn’t about waiting for someone else to come along and save us? What if ordinary people have the power to collectively free ourselves? In this timely collection of essays and interviews, Mariame Kaba reflects on the deep work of abolition and transformative political struggle. With a foreword by Naomi Murakawa and chapters on seeking justice beyond the punishment system, transforming how we deal with harm and accountability, and finding hope in collective struggle for abolition, Kaba’s work is deeply rooted in the relentless belief that we can fundamentally change the world. As Kaba writes, “Nothing that we do that is worthwhile is done alone.”

Book Cornelius Van Til s Doctrine of God and Its Relevance for Contemporary Hermeneutics

Download or read book Cornelius Van Til s Doctrine of God and Its Relevance for Contemporary Hermeneutics written by Jason B. Hunt and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-09-27 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cornelius Van Til’s Doctrine of God and Its Relevance for Contemporary Hermeneutics seeks to answer the question, “What does Van Til have to do with hermeneutics?” It is argued that some of the most relevant concerns in the field of contemporary hermeneutics are similar to those addressed by Van Til in the area of apologetics. Van Til’s approach involved a self-conscious consistency between method and theology proper in order to reason according to the Christian worldview found in Scripture. Just as one’s apologetic method should be consistent with the theology revealed in the Bible, so also should one’s hermeneutic. This work not only argues that Van Til has an important place in the hermeneutical discussion, but also demonstrates his place in terms of the main contours in his doctrine of God. In doing so, certain influences on evangelical hermeneutics are considered according to consistency with theology proper. Lastly, a Van Tillian hermeneutic is applied to the often-debated issue concerning the New Testament use of the Old Testament.

Book excerpt: Pablo is a hardworking, upstanding police officer, proud of his long marriage and lovely family. Through decades of quiet dedication and single-minded devotion he has achieved the successes one strives for in life, both with his family and career. Close to retirement and to sitting back and enjoying the fruits of a successful career and marriage, a malicious spurious complaint at work should have no material consequences on his life, but it starts a domino effect, and before long he finds himself shockingly dismissed, divorced, without a home, and with a criminal record. This story explores a convoluted tragic journey of divorce, rich with emotion, loss, betrayal, revenge and confusion. Along the way it explores the dynamics of what makes a relationship weak and vulnerable, or strong and resolute. It's not a miserable story, but one of resilience, hope, and true love. It is told with an immense depth of feeling, insight, humour and faith, and there are many truly surprising twists and turns as the story unfolds.

This book was released on 2022-03-26T22:59:00Z with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 Prisons, policing, and the criminal punishment system in general are racist, oppressive, and ineffective. Abolition is a vision of a restructured society in a world where we have everything we need: food, shelter, education, health, art, beauty, and more things that are foundational to our personal and community safety. #2 We must remember that we will also need to change. Our imagination of what a different world can be is limited. We are deeply entangled in the very systems we are organizing to change. #3 We must simultaneously reduce contact between people and the criminal legal system. We must not only change how we address harm, but also how we address everything. #4 I dread the summer because of the increased police presence and aggression. It seems like every summer, there is a new video of police brutality against Black people.

Book Twelve Stones

Download or read book Twelve Stones written by Barbara Carole and published by Gospel Light Publications. This book was released on 2009-02-16 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twelve Stones is the story of Barbara Ilaynia, a secular Jew who worships Art and Romance, who tries to unravel the meaning of existence and make every moment a masterpiece. She lives and loves with passion, though not always with wisdom, in Parisian garrets and in Moroccan villages, in the light of Southern France and in sunny California. While embracing the drama of life and inhaling the fragrance of flowers along her path, her search is sometimes misguided by intensity and misled by intellectualism. At the zenith of her quest, Barbara discovers something even more meaningful than truth: She encounters the Source of love. Her life changing confrontation with God transforms a strong willed, sensual, tough minded individualist . . . and then her real journey begins. This book is Barbara’s altar of remembrance, built from the stones she has pocketed along her winding path. She builds this altar to honor the God of miracles.
