Book excerpt: Eve should be blamed for choosing the apple? For choosing knowledge over obedience? Knowledge of good and evil? She thinks not. Mary insists she be recognized for who she is--the mother of God. And, well, you can imagine what Noah’s wife had to say about his grand idea. Nineteen epistles in all. Not only good reading, but also well-suited for auditions. “In this book the voices and personalities of women such as Noah’s wife, Mary of Bethany, Zipporah, and Vashti are reimagined in an exciting and empowering way. ... As in her other works, Wind uses historical people, events, and understandings to build a truly wonderful source of feminist fiction. In addition to being an extremely enjoyable and thought provoking read, the monologues can also be used for audition and performance pieces. ..." Katie M. Deaver, feminismandreligion.com

Book And Eve Said To Hell with God

Download or read book And Eve Said To Hell with God written by Sal Rivers and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2016-08-22 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Old Testament of the Bible states that God created man in His image, which would lead many to see Genesis as chauvinistic. What of Eve? Although greatly argued, the existence of a female Goddess is equally and vaguely documented, allowing us a clearer understanding of the influences that led to where we are today, ensnared in a battle of the sexes. Sal Rivers uses his life experience in social enforcement to outline, in handbook style, said battle. His unique and blunt approach forces us to reevaluate our beliefs and explore the gender war by taking it back to the principles of creation. For example, what if this battle is more than terrestrial, still being fought in the heavens as we struggle to connect here on Earth? Each of us participates in the gender war on a daily basis and seeks to find solace in a partner who seeks the same. Understanding todays dating rules is imperative, but recognizing the decisions of the ancient and more recent pastwhen men attempted to subordinate womenwill aid in revealing humanitys shortcomings and assumptions about love. Perhaps, then, our relationships will become experiences of divine elation instead of fruitless endeveavors.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second Deception of Eve reveals the true plot behind the Second Adam's wife, the Church. Galatians 6:7 says, "Don't be deceived, God is not mocked [He will not be made a fool of], whatever you sow, that is what you will reap!" In this book, you will learn the True Love story of God for Man, and why He used Israel to paint His Masterpiece of love for all mankind. This book will give readers a deeper look inside the love of a husband and wife (Adam and Eve) in the Old Testament as well as the New Testament. It offers insight on why Satan didn't have to make a significant effort to deceive Eve, and why they were both vulnerable and didn't put up much of a fight. What exactly is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? Are we living in the Last Days? What is referred to as the Falling Away of the Church (The Great Apostasy), as mentioned in 1 Timothy 4:1? You'll be blown away by what you discover! Finally, you will discover a rare revelation about Eve in her current evolved state of evil, from Genesis to Jude, including God's provision for her deliverance. The eyes of your understanding will be opened, and you'll receive a fresh revelation of God's love and how you should live to please Him. Beware! Your deeds will be made manifest! But you can truly receive your healing and deliverance.

Book Infamous Eve

    Book Details:
  • Author : May Sinclair
  • Publisher : Wheatmark, Inc.
  • Release : 2007-04
  • ISBN : 1587367157
  • Pages : 358 pages

Download or read book Infamous Eve written by May Sinclair and published by Wheatmark, Inc.. This book was released on 2007-04 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike those who are expected to place their hand on its cover and make an oath, the Bible does not tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. The biblical authors only told theirs. Even the women actually named are remarkably silent, making it easy to believe whatever has been said about their lives throughout the ages. The biblical story of Eve impacts modern society on both a conscious and subconscious level. Are you aware that the authors of the Garden of Eden creation narrative were greatly influenced by the Persians in the fifth century BCE--maybe even taking the basic story from them? Did you know Adam had a wife prior to Eve, the equality-demanding Lilith? Do you think it is possible for a single mother to have populated this planet? It is well past the time for all of this to be common knowledge. "Infamous Eve" includes many legends, stories, and folktales--even that of Eve also being the snake in the Garden of Eden--but first May Sinclair delves into the genetically induced response that has been handed down as a physical, emotional, and psychological inheritance to modern people. She rips open the seams of the historical records to see the weave of the religious, economic, and political threads that have endlessly rolled out the same pattern of notions about Eve and her daughters.

Book Adam and Eve in Scripture Theology and Literature

Download or read book Adam and Eve in Scripture Theology and Literature written by Peter B. Ely and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2018-01-15 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adam and Eve in Scripture, Theology, and Literature: Sin, Compassion, and Forgiveness is an extended consideration of the narrative of Adam and Eve, first seen in the Hebrew Bible but given new life by St. Paul in the New Testament. Paul’s treatment of Adam and Eve, especially his designation of Christ as a second Adam, has had an enormous influence in Christianity. Peter Ely follows this rich narrative as it develops in history, providing the basis of the doctrine of original sin in Christianity, giving rise in modern times to theological speculation, and entering thematically into mysticism and literature. The power of the adamic narrative can only be realized if one treats it as a true but non-historical myth. The “truth” of the myth lies in its ability to stimulate thinking and so reveal the depths of human experience. Augustine understood that, so did Julian of Norwich, and even the Belgian author of mystery stories, Georges Simenon, who had a deep sense of the universality of human weakness and the possibilities of redeeming what was lost. Simenon’s detective Maigret saw himself as a “mender of destinies.” The doctrine of original sin, the notion that human beings share a common vulnerability, can open the way to compassion and forgiveness. As Shakespeare illustrates in Measure for Measure, the awareness of weakness in ourselves should move us to compassion for others. The recognition of a kind of “democracy of sin” can keep us from considering ourselves better than others, unlike them in their weakness, and entitled to stand in judgment of them. Thus, compassion opens the door to forgiveness. The progress from sin to compassion to forgiveness forms the heart of this work.

Book excerpt: When responding to the serpent's temptation to eat the forbidden fruit, Eve says that one "must not touch it" (Gen 3:2-3). In this , Eve appears to embellish upon God's clear command that one must not eat from the tree (Gen 2:17). Jeffrey J. Niehaus tackles this issue head on in When Did Eve Sin? Using Scripture to interpret Scripture and analyzing biblical stories where characters retell the narrative, Niehaus recognizes a common scriptural pattern that resolves the mystery of Eve's words. Everyone engaging with these questions will be defily guided by Niehaus's thorough study of this thorny issue. -- Back Cover.

Book excerpt: Lady MacBeth kill herself? Please. And Portia – you don’t think someone that intelligent would be a little pissed at being bait, and trophy? As for Kate ... that's supposed to be funny? Soliloquies: the lady doth indeed protest is a collection of soliloquies by Ophelia, Lady MacBeth, Regan, Portia, Desdemona, Kate, Isabella, Juliet, Marina, and Miranda – protesting the role given to them by Shakespeare. Exquisite poetry. Fresh new audition pieces. And a theatrical script ready for performance. “...not only dynamic, imaginative verse writing, but extremely intelligent and intuitive insight ... I know many actresses who would love to get their hands on this material! As a Shakespeare director, I’m thrilled by the perspective which Chris’ pieces provide of the plays and characters which they challenge – I believe these will be sought after by theatre companies which also do solid classical work, as new material for their audiences, embraced by a season of Shakespeare plays. As a feminist, I’m excited by how these characters come alive and point up the perceptions and misperceptions that have shaped their literary and theatrical destinies. As a dramaturg, I’m more than pleased to find modern playwrights who can write in heightened language and/or verse.” Joanne Zipay, Judith Shakespeare Company, NYC
