Book NEW TESTAMENT CONTEXTUAL COMMENTARY

Download or read book NEW TESTAMENT CONTEXTUAL COMMENTARY written by Dr. Robert R. Seyda and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2024-05-16 with total page 749 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here John advises us that loving one another is not an option or a suggestion, it is a commandment. John doesn’t want any believer to become like Adam and Eve’s firstborn, Cain. That happened because Cain was under the influence of Satan. This is, therefore, a warning not to mess with the world. So, what if they hate us? We are bound for everlasting life in the presence of God. That’s why death has no power over us. And that’s why, if our thoughts do not tell us that we are guilty, we will not be afraid to come to God. We can pray to God and we can ask Him to help us. He will give us what we ask Him for. That is because we obey His commands and we do the things that please Him. Furthermore, we should all love each other because God makes us able to love other people. Everyone who loves other people confirms our claim to be a child of God. If anyone says clearly that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in that person. And that person lives together with God. We know the kind of love that God has for us. That’s why if we love God, we will not be afraid of Him. So, how do we know that we love God’s children? We know it when we love God and we do what He tells us to do.

Book Semanatorul The Sower Volume One Number One

Download or read book Semanatorul The Sower Volume One Number One written by Hamilton Moore and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-09-10 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Journal This first volume of Semănătorul (The Sower): The Journal of Ministry and Biblical Research, has been produced through the collaboration of Emanuel University Press, the Emanuel “Ethics and Society” Research Centre and distinguished colleagues from the Hungarian Baptist Academy. The publishing efforts were aided by Dr. Almási Tibor, Rector, Hungarian Baptist Academy. The volume comprises the Proceedings of the International Theological Conference held by the Department of Theology on 6th May 2016 in Emanuel University of Oradea. The theme of the Conference was Hebrews: Its Historical Context and Theological Significance. For many scholars, Hebrews 13:22 gives some guidance concerning the nature of the epistle, “Bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.” The suggestion is that the background may be a sermon, given on a certain occasion and then later adapted into letter form with the addition of personal comments at the end. But what of its readers? It is thought that the first readers were Hebrews and the camp of 13:13, ancient Judaism. They were Jews attracted to the Christian community and who had identified with it. But Christianity had none of the “ritual trappings” they had known, no altar, no priests, no sacrifices. They were meeting ridicule, opposition, imprisonment and being disowned and disinherited by their families (10:32). Some had coped well with this adversity, but others were looking back to the temple from where they had come (10:32–39). Was not Judaism God-ordained? The author of Hebrews seeks to set before them the “better things” which have become theirs: a better priesthood, better sanctuary, better sacrifice, better covenant, true access to the very presence of the Most High (10:19–21). Also the “greater things,” that is: Christ greater than angels, Moses, Joshua, and Aaron. The Proceedings Papers in this Journal will touch upon some of the aspects of the situation outlined above. The significance of the opening verses of Hebrews for the whole epistle is outlined in the opening paper. Other papers focus on the themes endurance, pilgrimage, “echoes” in interpretation, a comparison of the epistle with Philo, the significance of “the time of reformation” for worship in Hebrews, a semiotic approach regarding Psalm 2 and the profile of the “Son,” the concept of repentance and critique of the perspectives of George Milligan regarding the importance of the epistle. Emanuel University continues to be a strong witness as a conservative university in all of Europe. It should be understood that the sources highlighted and the views presented in these papers remain those of the contributors themselves. Hamilton Moore, Editor.

Book excerpt: Say It! A Celebration of Expository Preaching in the African American Tradition argues that Biblical Exposition is most dynamic when coupled with the African American preaching tradition. Charlie Dates, Romell Williams, George Parks, Jr., Terry D. Streeter and a cast of pastors and preaching professors collaborate to demonstrate the power of exposition in the cradle of the Black pulpit. The contributors in this volume give examples of African American Biblical exposition in every section of the Old Testament and New Testament. They also explain how to preach from narrative, poetical, prophetic, epistolary, and apocalyptic genres throughout the Scriptures. This important and powerful resource celebrates the faithful, biblical preaching of African Americans that is so often overlooked because it's stylistically different than the style of most white preachers. Appropriate for training associate ministers or use as a textbook in homiletics, Say It! will give the preacher what is needed to speak to real life from every page of the Book!

Book Reformed Systematic Theology Volume 2

Download or read book Reformed Systematic Theology Volume 2 written by Joel Beeke and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2020-11-16 with total page 1211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of systematic theology is to engage not only the head but also the heart and hands. Only recently has the church compartmentalized these aspects of life—separating the academic discipline of theology from the spiritual disciplines of faith and obedience. This multivolume work brings together rigorous historical and theological scholarship with spiritual disciplines and practical insights—characterized by a simple, accessible, comprehensive, Reformed, and experiential approach. In this volume, Joel R. Beeke and Paul M. Smalley shift from the doctrine of God (theology proper) to the doctrine of humanity (anthropology) and the doctrine of Christ (Christology). This extensive reformed theology explores the Bible's teaching about who we are and why we were created, as well as who Jesus is and why his divinity is essential to the Christian faith.

Book excerpt: Do you want to know what the future holds? Not from a “fortune teller” standpoint, but as to what God says is coming down the pike whether we like it or not. His predictions are 100% accurate, 100% of the time. Why do we seldom hear sermons from the Book of Revelation? Because most preachers and teachers prefer to avoid controversy. And, since there are a number of interpretations, they say it is best to ignore them all. But think about this- one-fourth of the New Testament is composed of prophecy! Does God want us to ignore one-fourth of the New Testament? No! As the book Finally Home explains, taking a literal interpretation of Scripture clears up virtually all of the controversy. In other words, God knows how to communicate and He lays out clearly His master plan for the end of the age. For unbelievers many of the scenes are painful, but for the Christian you are missing out if you are not looking for the outstanding times that await you! Finally Home tells you what to expect in the end times. It shows you the big picture so that, as world politics change, you will not be taken unawares. It will give you the encouragement to stand firm as the world continues to grow dark, knowing that your faithfulness and perseverance will deliver you --Finally Home!
