Book Throw No More Stones

Download or read book Throw No More Stones written by Frank Conte and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I donaEUR(tm)t have all the answers. I make no claim how I came to perceive should replace todayaEUR(tm)s acceptable understanding of the Bible. But what I do know is one thing I do knowaEUR"out of nearly eight billion humans on earth, of necessity, no two were ever appointed to think or act precisely alike. But since souls were created in the image of God, humans inevitably followed suit, meaning humans are intelligent. However, without solid evidence to back up questions of human life mysteries, who is qualified to proclaim what is truth and what is not? So as a novitiate, curiosity beckoned me to strive. However, it has taken me forty-seven years of on-again, off-again studying, fifteen years of that to undergo a skill I did not possess, that as an author. I stood fast in my pursuit to try to do the best I could, especially to share with those who are likewise disadvantaged. Anything and everything becomes possible if one is stimulated enough. There is nothing to fear, for everything in life has a purpose. Not comfortable as a proselytizer, but if my effort in some way could motivate at least just one other soul among the eight billion, I consider this struggle of mine justified. This book is dedicated to all herein mentioned and then some authors who played a crucial role in my understanding what the meaning of life is all about.

Now, five years later, Andy is fourteen and beginning to feel the weight of his brother's legacy, especially when he holds Pete's basketball in his hands. Andy dreams of leading his high-school team to the Indiana state tournament, as his brother did before him. If only Andy could be a basketball star, maybe he could ease his parents' sadness, and, more important, feel like he truly belongs to his family. Book excerpt: For nearly five decades, Colombia has been embroiled in internal armed conflict among guerrilla groups, paramilitary militias, and the country’s own military. Civilians in Colombia have to make their lives despite the threat of torture, kidnapping, and large-scale massacres—and more than four million have had to flee their homes. The oral histories in Throwing Stones at the Moon describe the most widespread of Colombia’s human rights crises: forced displacement. Speakers recount life before displacement, the reasons for their flight, and their struggle to rebuild their lives. Among the narrators: JULIA, a hospital union leader whose fight against corruption led to a brutal attempt on her life. In 2009, assassins tracked her to her home and stabbed her seven times in the face and chest. Since the attack, Julia has undergone eight facial reconstructive surgeries, and continues to live in hiding. DANNY, who at eighteen joined a right-wing paramilitary’s enormous training camp in the Eastern Plains of Colombia. Initially lured by the promise of quick money, Danny soon realized his mistake and escaped to Ecuador. He describes his harrowing escape and his struggle to survive as a refugee with two young children to support.
