This book was released on 2022-05-04 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Through Grace and Mercy, I Made It Out against All Odds, the author tells a powerful story about a young boy name Roy growing up in poverty and trying to be a man. Roy had a lot of obstacles in his life that nearly railroaded his future. There was always something standing in the way of Roy making good sound decisions and for that every time he took one step, he found himself five steps backwards. Being from a broken home, majority of the time, Roy found himself learning as he went. His mother did the best she could do being a single mom, but as a young black male without a father figure, that wasn't enough. As you read through the story, you will see Roy had many trials and tribulations that he had to overcome. Through the eyes of Roy, you will see that a lot of his problems stemmed from not having his father in his life, and he was having a serious identity crisis. In the end, you will see that although Roy grew up in a single-parent home, his mother was a true believer in God and always told her children to believe and trust in God for guidance.

Book excerpt: Theology through mythology J. R. R. Tolkien was many things: English Catholic, father and husband, survivor of two world wars, Oxford professor, and author. But he was also a theologian. Tolkien's writings exhibit a coherent theology of God and his works, but Tolkien did not present his views with systematic arguments. Rather, he expressed theology through story. In Tolkien Dogmatics, Austin M. Freeman inspects Tolkien's entire corpus— The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and beyond—as a window into his theology. In his stories, lectures, and letters, Tolkien creatively and carefully engaged with his Christian faith. Tolkien Dogmatics is a comprehensive manual of Tolkien's theological thought arranged in traditional systematic theology categories, with sections on God, revelation, creation, evil, Christ and salvation, the church, and last things. Through Tolkien's imagination, we reencounter our faith.

Book The New Covenant as a Paradigm for Optimal Relations

Download or read book The New Covenant as a Paradigm for Optimal Relations written by Pablo Polischuk and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2016-10-07 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New Covenant as a Paradigm for Optimal Relations regards the New Covenant primarily as a gracious and merciful redemptive deal, springing from God's unilateral, unconditional, and proactive initiative. The New Covenant is adopted as representing both a salvific and an exemplary paradigm that displays God's gracious and merciful ways toward his children. Ten discrete, yet interwoven principles are extracted from, interpreted, and abstracted from Scriptures pertaining to the promised New Covenant. These principles apply to those who, as dearly beloved children, are invited to imitate God's loving ways. God's manner of love defines the foundational basis from which the author derives and elaborates the propositions that guide the considerations pertaining to thoughts, feelings, motivations, and behaviors that enter into play in relational transactions. In terms of style, an architectural design permeates the content of this book, offering and encompassing a metacognitive view of God's covenantal ways: a top-down perspective that applies to bottom-up endeavors of relational nature. The challenges posed by our cultural, postmodern trends--devoid of absolute principles and lacking a moral compass--are countered and addressed by the author in insightful fashion, offering theologically-based guidelines integrated to sound psychological principles, applicable to psychotherapeutic and counseling endeavors as well as to pastoral care.
