Download or read book Jacob B hme in Three Worlds written by Lucinda Martin and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2023-12-18 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jacob Böhme (1575–1624) has been recognized as one of the internationally most influential German authors of the Early Modern period. Even today, his writings continue to impact fields as diverse as literature, philosophy, religion and art. Yet Böhme and his reception remain understudied. As a lay author, his works were often suppressed and circulated underground. Borrowing Böhme’s idea of “three worlds” or planes of existence, this volume traces the transmission of his thought through three stations: from his first underground readers in Central and Eastern Europe, to the Netherlands, where most of his writings were first published, to Britain, where early translations made him a popular author for generations to come. Drawing on the work of both established and younger researchers from around the world, this volume charts new territory. It fills many lacunae and reveals a number of exciting discoveries, especially regarding the production and diffusion of manuscripts and previously overlooked sites of engagement. This book will be of interest to a wide range of scholars interested in the development of philosophical, religious, literary and artistic thought from the 17th century to the present day.
Download or read book One God One Word written by Clarence G. Wilson and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2007-03 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Book shares the true Knowledge of God. It gives the facts of Creation, beginning with the revealing of God Himself, through the revealing of the spirit beings, to the creation of man. It reveals the true methods of worshiping God in this life, as well as revealing the coming judgments of God on the heavens and on the earth, and it reveals the details of the Hereafter, including Heaven and hell. The oneness of God and the oneness of religion among all people is stressed to the believers of God, just as He revealed it to His servants throughout the ages. The defects of Christianity are revealed, as well as the errors concerning the crucifixion, the resurrection, and the Passion of the Christ. The details of God's Truth as It exists in Judaism, in Hinduism, in Buddhism, and in Islam are also revealed. Most of the Knowledge in this Book comes from Jesus himself, as this Book contains more of Jesus' spoken words than any other documentary on Jesus. The Bible contains only a fraction of Jesus' Message. The rest of the Knowledge in this Book was revealed to the prophets of God, as documented in the Word of God, and this is the prophesized Book that must be opened in the End Times, for the saving of mankind (Isa. 30:8,52:7, Dan. 12:4,9, Hab. 2:14, Rev. 10:10,11). This Book is prepared as a Warning to unbelievers and as a Guide to those desiring Eternal Life.

Book excerpt: A Better Freedom explores the biblical imagery of slavery as a metaphor for Christian discipleship. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Historically, studies of the church in Africa have tended to focus on church history or church-state relations, but in this publication David Zac Niringiye presents a study of the Church of Uganda focused on its ecclesiology. Niringiye examines several formative periods for the Church of Uganda during concurrent chronological political eras characterized by varying degrees of socio-political turbulence, highlighting how the social context impacted the church’s self-expression. The author’s methodology and insight sets this work apart as an excellent reflection on the Ugandan church and brings scholarly attention to previously ignored topics that hold great value to society, the church, and the academic community globally.

Download or read book Missions Nationalism and the End of Empire written by Stanley and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2003 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christian missions have often been seen as the religious arm of Western imperialism. What is rarely appreciated is the role they played in bringing about an end to the Western colonial empires after the Second World War. Missions, Nationalism, and the End of Empire explores this neglected subject. Respected authorities on the history of missions explore new territory in these chapters, examining from diverse angles the linkages between Christianity, nationalism, and the dissolution of the colonial empires in Asia and Africa. This work not only sheds light on the relation of religion and politics but also uncovers the sometimes paradoxical implications of the church's call to bring the gospel to all the world. Download or read book The A to Z of Anglicanism written by Colin Buchanan and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2009-08-04 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anglicanism arguably originated in 1534 when Parliament passed the Act of Supremacy, which transferred papal power over the Church of England to the king. Today, approximately 550 dioceses are located around the world, not only in England, but also everywhere that the British Empire's area of influence extended. With an estimated total membership of about 75 million, Anglicanism is one of the largest and most varied Christian denominations. With such a long history and widespread flock, it is not easy to keep track of the variations of a religious community that has not ceased adapting since its inception. Hundreds of entries on significant persons and events, concepts and institutions, rituals and liturgy, and national communities, make this an invaluable reference for religious historians, theologians, and researchers. Also included are an introduction, a chronology that traces the church's evolution over time, and a bibliography.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the millennium draws near, only a handful of books on Bible prophecy will approach the clarity and scope of this one. Three Worlds in Conflict satisfies the growing curiosity of both Christians and non-Christians about God's vision for the future by simply yet fully explaining the facts and philosophy of scriptural prophecy. Unlike many titles, this book presents the whole range of Bible prophecy in chronological form, not just bits and pieces. And the style is contemporary and approachable, unfolding the whys, whats, and whens of God's plan for His world with more twists and turns than a bestselling novel.
Download or read book Modes of British Imperial Control of Africa written by Onek C. Adyanga and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2011-05-25 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines how Great Britain, as a colonial power in Africa, organized and exercised control at the international and domestic level to advance British interests in Uganda and beyond. While this book is by no means an exhaustive study of the various modes of control that took hold in Uganda since its inception as a territorial state up to the period of juridical independence, it is hoped that its historiographical contributions to the post-colonial dispensation of Uganda will be threefold. First, it systematically sheds light on the combined influence of racist ideology, class, and politics in perpetuating informal imperial control in Uganda. Second, it demonstrates that consolidating informal imperial control has required externalizing the legitimacy of the Ugandan state. This suggests that African leaders not supported by external powers may be externally delegitimized and their position made untenable. Third, it demonstrates that the informal control imposed upon Africans by external powers, by removing incentives for internal legitimacy, encouraged violations of human rights as African leaders did not need to obtain the consent of their own people in order to remain in power. Furthermore, it advances the argument that democracy, the rule of law and the protection of human rights can be achieved in Africa if leaders enjoy internal legitimacy derived from the people. The various modes of control imposed by former masters over colonial and post-colonial states were not meant to protect African, but imperial interests.
