Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Setting a goal to read and study the whole Bible, let alone the New Testament by its self, may seem daunting and an impossible challenge. Starting with the Gospels is one of the best ways to begin a study of the Bible and starting with the words of Jesus makes the challenge an even more exciting. After all, because of the fact that He is the Son of God, wouldn't studying his words, be the best way to start? For centuries, the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been preached throughout the world. His teachings have been taught in nearly every language, dialect and nation, astonishing the wise and humbling the proud. Christ's teachings focused on love: “Love one another as I have loved you” and “Do unto others as you would have them do to you”. When Jesus was asked which of the Ten Commandments the greatest commandment is, He replies, “You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with your entire mind; this is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it, you will love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets”.While reading His words, let us focus on what He says. Do we truly live as He taught? Do we follow in His footsteps? The word “Christian” means “Follower of Christ”. Let's learn what He taught us and then follow what He said. The world is watching us; it was once said by Mahatma Gandhi that if India would ever truly become a Christian nation, it would be because of the Christ of the Christians and not because of the Christians of the Christ. Christians today have not left the greatest impression on the world. Let's be true followers of Christ and live by His words. Only then will the world know what a Christian truly is. As the song says, “They will know we are Christians by our love.”Read carefully His words and then study the context in which He was speaking. Review the questions carefully and answer them as honestly as you can. Enjoy your study of Christ's words.

And whether you are a new believer or have been walking with Christ for decades, Core Christianity's The Gospel of John Bible study is a great way to grow in your knowledge and understanding of God's word. At Core Christianity, we constantly strive to help people understand the core truths of the Christian faith. We do this every time we answer a caller's question on our daily radio show, in every article we run on corechristianity.com, and in every resource we produce designed to help people gain a clearer understanding of the gospel--the core message of Christianity. We designed this study with Sunday school classes, Bible study groups, and even individual students in mind. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the drama of Scripture, the relevant historic Christian doctrines, and the key themes of John's Gospel. Designed for groups to move through in ten weeks, this study is perfect for a semester or quarterly study. Each weekly lesson includes selected passages from John's Gospel, reflection questions, and explanations of the key lessons every Christian should know about passages from John's Gospel. This leader's guide includes prayer suggestions, leader's notes, and additional reflection questions that will help leaders facilitate edifying discussions each week. This study explores key themes in the Gospel of John: salvation, sanctification, and especially the deity, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Studying God's word can bring understanding, growth, and freedom to our lives. We pray this study helps make Jesus' words the experience of all: "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free" (John 8:31-32).

Book Verse by Verse Study of the Gospel of John

Download or read book Verse by Verse Study of the Gospel of John written by Ruth Miller and published by . This book was released on 2021-06 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I originally wrote this study for the lady's Bible study I taught in Jordan. Most of the ladies did not have access to a Bible at home and the majority of them could not read. It is designed to be a very simple and basic study of John for people who have had minimal or no prior exposure to the Bible or to Bible study. That said, it also contains some deep truths that God revealed to me as I studied. The 15-week study looks at the book verse by verse. Each lesson is written to be used by the presenting teacher with six or seven review questions for the students at the end of each lesson. Because of the study's design, the teacher is the only one who needs a book. The questions at the end of the lesson are for discussion. May you be blessed as you look at the Gospel of John verse by verse. I used the New American Standard Bible when I wrote this study. This study is suitable for either group or individual study.

Book excerpt: Each of us is in the middle of a story. In this astoundingly unique book, bestselling author N.D. Wilson reminds us that to truly live we must recognize that we are dying. Cause of death: life. Death by Living is a poetic exploration of faith, futility, and the incredible joy of this mortal life. N.D. Wilson recounts stories from his life in poetic prose, giving perspective on the life we're given by God. Death by Living explores the topics of family, grappling with the death of loved ones, and how to live with intention to get the most out of our time on Earth. Wilson encourages us to live hard and die grateful, and to see Christ in every pair of eyes. To write a past we won’t regret. All of us must pause and breathe. See the past, see life as the fruit of providence and thousands of personal narratives. We did not choose where to set our feet in time, but we choose where to set them next. We stand in the now. God says create. Live. Choose. Shape the past. Etch your life in stone, and what you make will be forever. In Death by Living, you will: Experience life with renewed wonder Recognize mundane moments as opportunities Learn to live hard and die grateful Recognize death as a gift instead of something to be feared At once inspiring, humorous, and unbelievably moving, this a book that you will read again and again, finding fresh perspective each time you open it.

Book Jesus and John Wayne How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation

Download or read book Jesus and John Wayne How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation written by Kristin Kobes Du Mez and published by Liveright Publishing. This book was released on 2020-06-23 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The “paradigm-influencing” book (Christianity Today) that is fundamentally transforming our understanding of white evangelicalism in America. Jesus and John Wayne is a sweeping, revisionist history of the last seventy-five years of white evangelicalism, revealing how evangelicals have worked to replace the Jesus of the Gospels with an idol of rugged masculinity and Christian nationalism—or in the words of one modern chaplain, with “a spiritual badass.” As acclaimed scholar Kristin Du Mez explains, the key to understanding this transformation is to recognize the centrality of popular culture in contemporary American evangelicalism. Many of today’s evangelicals might not be theologically astute, but they know their VeggieTales, they’ve read John Eldredge’s Wild at Heart, and they learned about purity before they learned about sex—and they have a silver ring to prove it. Evangelical books, films, music, clothing, and merchandise shape the beliefs of millions. And evangelical culture is teeming with muscular heroes—mythical warriors and rugged soldiers, men like Oliver North, Ronald Reagan, Mel Gibson, and the Duck Dynasty clan, who assert white masculine power in defense of “Christian America.” Chief among these evangelical legends is John Wayne, an icon of a lost time when men were uncowed by political correctness, unafraid to tell it like it was, and did what needed to be done. Challenging the commonly held assumption that the “moral majority” backed Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020 for purely pragmatic reasons, Du Mez reveals that Trump in fact represented the fulfillment, rather than the betrayal, of white evangelicals’ most deeply held values: patriarchy, authoritarian rule, aggressive foreign policy, fear of Islam, ambivalence toward #MeToo, and opposition to Black Lives Matter and the LGBTQ community. A much-needed reexamination of perhaps the most influential subculture in this country, Jesus and John Wayne shows that, far from adhering to biblical principles, modern white evangelicals have remade their faith, with enduring consequences for all Americans.

This book was released on 2004 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Illustrated in color throughout, this handsome volume presents selected papers from an international symposium held in June 2001 marking the completion of a ten-year project to conserve the Last Judgment mosaic, at St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. The project was a partnership between the Office of the President of the Czech Republic, the Prague Castle Administration, and the Getty Conservation Institute. The goal of the symposium was to present the methodology, research, and results of the project, which involved conserving one of the finest examples of monumental medieval mosaic art in Europe. The volume's essays are divided into three parts, which cover the historical and art-historical context, conservation planning and methodology, and project implementation and maintenance. Topics addressed include the history, iconography, and visual documentation of the mosaic; the development and application of surface cleaning and protective coating techniques for the mosaic's glass tesserae; and post-treatment monitoring and maintenance.
