Rocco hits on every major part of planning it out. From your business exit plan to developing strategies for eldercare, Rocco starts with the moment you ask yourself: What's next in life? By sharing his journey―from learning the ropes of business in his dad's tailor shop as a kid to tailoring multi-million dollar portfolios for clients―you will learn the steps to striking the perfect balance in your life, one cord at a time.

This book was released on 2014-12-11 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Because of its direct clinical applications, this is a good purchase for any neurological and neurosurgical library.” – Doody’s Reviews “I would certainly recommend [this book] to any technologist who monitors in the operating room.” – American Journal of Electroneurodiagnostic Technology This is a fundamental resource for physicians, technologists, and other health professionals who need to acquire state-of-the-art skills in neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring (NIOM). It covers basic aspects of monitoring, describes the clinical and technical requirements for monitoring specific types of surgeries, and addresses the administrative aspects of running an NIOM service. The second edition has been updated to incorporate the vast amount of new information and techniques that have evolved since the publication of the first edition. This includes expanded coverage of each of the modalities used in monitoring (SEP, MEP, BAEP, EEG, and EMG) which are now discussed in individual chapters, training curriculum for neurophysiologists and technologists, policies and procedures for NIOM labs, and accreditation and certification. New applications and clinical innovations are interwoven throughout, and there is a completely new chapter on the use of NIOM in movement disorders surgery. Of value to practitioners at any level of experience, the book is now divided into three sections. The first section, Basic Principles, introduces the reader to the operating room environment, anesthetic considerations, and the various monitoring modalities. The second section, Clinical Methods, reviews the use of NIOM in specific types of surgeries. Many of these chapters are co-written by a neurophysiologist and technologist and present an overview of the particular surgery, relevant anatomy, monitoring modalities, data interpretation, warning criteria and technical considerations. A unique third section, Administrative Issues, has been added to this edition to address technical aspects of NIOM machines, remote monitoring, billing, ethical and legal issues, and training requirements for physicians and technologists. The final two chapters are devoted to setting up and maintaining an NIOM service and include sample policies and procedures. Key Features: Provides a wealth of current information on NIOM for day-to-day case management Covers all modalities and practical applications of NIOM for specific surgeries Contains detailed information on training, setup, billing, equipment, lab protocols, and running a service Appeals to NIOM providers at every level Combines the perspectives of physicians and technologists who together author surgical chapters

Book The Graph Theoretical Approach in Brain Functional Networks

Download or read book The Graph Theoretical Approach in Brain Functional Networks written by Fabrizio De Vico Fallani and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2010 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes some advanced mathematical signal processing techniques applied to the estimation of the cortical connectivity in humans from non-invasive electroencephalographic (EEG) recordings. Some might think that mathematics is not the proper tool for a full comprehension of the brain functions, but often this is not the case. In the last ten years, many different brain-imaging devices have conveyed a lot of information about the brain functioning in different experimental conditions. In every case, the biomedical engineers, together with mathematicians, physicists and physicians are called to elaborate the signals related to the brain activity in order to extract meaningful and robust information to correlate with the external behavior of people. In such attempts, different signal processing tools used in telecommunications and other fields of engineering or even social sciences have been adapted and re-used in the neuroscience field. In particular, the science of complex networks has produced an increasing interest in the study of complex systems where interaction networks are crucial. Recently, the analysis of real networks led to a series of important results in various fields and to the identification of the basic principles common to all the networks that are being considered. Scientists have found that several systems can be represented as networks and that the study of the whole web of links connecting different parts rather than the analysis of single elements, could give a better comprehension of the system itself. In this sense, the analysis of the brain functional connectivity through a network-based approach is one of the most promising means by which to study the brain functioning during motor or cognitive tasks. The present book intends to offer a concise presentation of the theoretical aspects concerning i) the possibility to achieve the cortical functional connectivity of the human brain from standard EE

Book Surgery of the Spine and Spinal Cord

Download or read book Surgery of the Spine and Spinal Cord written by Erik van de Kelft and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-04 with total page 761 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers essential guidance on selecting the most appropriate surgical management option for a variety of spinal conditions, including idiopathic problems, and degenerative disease. While the first part of the book discusses the neuroanatomy and biomechanics of the spine, pain mechanisms, and imaging techniques, the second guides the reader through the diagnostic process and treatment selection for disorders of the different regions of the spine, based on the principles of evidence-based medicine. I.e., it clearly explains why a particular technique should be selected for a specific patient on the basis of the available evidence, which is carefully reviewed. The book identifies potential complications and highlights technical pearls, describing newer surgical techniques and illustrating them with the help of images and accompanying videos. Though primarily intended for neurosurgeons, the book will also be of interest to orthopaedic surgeons, specialists in physical medicine, and pain specialists.

Book Quantitative MRI of the Spinal Cord

Download or read book Quantitative MRI of the Spinal Cord written by Julien Cohen-Adad and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-01-16 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantitative MRI of the Spinal Cord is the first book focused on quantitative MRI techniques with specific application to the human spinal cord. This work includes coverage of diffusion-weighted imaging, magnetization transfer imaging, relaxometry, functional MRI, and spectroscopy. Although these methods have been successfully used in the brain for the past 20 years, their application in the spinal cord remains problematic due to important acquisition challenges (such as small cross-sectional size, motion, and susceptibility artifacts). To date, there is no consensus on how to apply these techniques; this book reviews and synthesizes state-of-the-art methods so users can successfully apply them to the spinal cord. Quantitative MRI of the Spinal Cord introduces the theory behind each quantitative technique, reviews each theory’s applications in the human spinal cord and describes its pros and cons, and suggests a simple protocol for applying each quantitative technique to the spinal cord. Chapters authored by international experts in the field of MRI of the spinal cord Contains “cooking recipes —examples of imaging parameters for each quantitative technique—designed to aid researchers and clinicians in using them in practice Ideal for clinical settings
