Leadbeater. Krishnamurti never said that he wrote the work, and in the foreword he says: "These are not my own words but of the Master who taught me." Book excerpt: THESE are not my words; they are the words of the Master who taught me. Without Him I could have done nothing, but through His help I have set my feet upon the Path. You also desire to enter the same Path, so the words which He spoke to me will help you also, if you will obey them. It is not enough to say that they are true and beautiful; a man who wishes to succeed must do exactly what is said. To look at food and say that it is good will not satisfy a starving man; he must put forth his hand and eat. So to hear the Master's words is not enough; you must do what He says, attending to every word, taking every hint. If a hint is not taken, if a word is missed, it is lost forever; for He does not speak twice.

Book At the Feet of the Master

Download or read book At the Feet of the Master written by Jiddu Krishnamurti and published by Pantianos Classics. This book was released on 1912 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Krishnamurti's profound early work of spiritualism displays great wisdom attuned to matters of higher contemplation. Demonstrating a precocious ability to instil and guide others with spiritual wisdom, Jiddu Krishnamurti was twelve when he first authored this primer on gaining knowledge. The book is not an attempt at conversion, but is instead a meditation upon wholesome, guiding principles that anyone who desires spiritual harmony should aspire to. Krishnamurti urges aspiring spiritualists to be honest with themselves. If they are determined, and have the inner wealth to embark upon such a journey, they will go far. Eliminating material desires, behaving properly with good manners and conduct, and regarding other human beings with compassion and love are explained as crucial tenets. Obstacles to attainment, both physical and mental, are also explained. Upon publishing this work, Jiddu Krishnamurti gained renown as a prodigy in spiritual thought. The curiosity of a wise master emerging whilst merely a child sparked great interest within and outside Krishnamurti's home nation of India. At the Feet of the Master asserts that while only a boy, Jiddu Krishnamurti received insight through a series of impressions gained from an unnamed master. A refreshing text certain to provide relief amid the maddening complexity of modern life, At the Feet of the Master not only marks the beginning of Krishnamurti's life as a spiritual teacher, but the commencement of countless spiritual journeys undertaken by its readers.

Book The Awakening of Intelligence

Download or read book The Awakening of Intelligence written by J. KRISHNAMURTI and published by J. KRISHNAMURTI. This book was released on 2023-04-15 with total page 575 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When thought sees that it is incapable of discovering something new, that very perception is the seed of intelligence, isn’t it? That is intelligence: ‘I cannot do.’ I thought I could do a lot of things, and I can in a certain direction, but in a totally new direction I cannot do anything. The discovery of that is intelligence. This comprehensive record of J. Krishnamurti’s teachings is an excellent, wide-ranging introduction to the insights of the great philosopher and religious teacher. Apart from existential issues such as violence, insecurity, conflict, pleasure, fear, and suffering, Krishnamurti examines larger but related questions, such as the role of the guru (with Professor Jacob Needleman); the traditional methods prescribed by Vedanta (with Swami Venkatesananda); the problem of good and evil (with Alain Naude); and the relationship between thought and intelligence (with Dr. David Bohm). First published in 1973, this book contains, apart from Krishnamurti’s public talks and answers to questions from the audience, his incisive dialogues with some of the eminent minds of his time.

This book was released on 2006 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The privilege is given to me, as an elder, to pen a word of introduction to this little book, the first written by a younger Brother, young in body verily, but not in Soul. The teachings contained in it were given to him by his Master in preparing him for Initiation, and were written down by him from memory - slowly and laboriously, for his English last year was far less fluent than it is now. The greater part is a reproduction of the Master's own words; that which is not such a verbal reproduction is the Master's thought clothed in His pupil's words. Two omitted sentences were supplied by the Master. In two other cases an omitted word has been added. Beyond this, it is entirely Alcyone's own, his first gift to the world. May it help others as the spoken teachings helped him - such is the hope with which he gives it. But the teaching can only be fruitful if it is lived, as he has lived it, since it fell from the Master's lips. If the example be followed as well as the precept, then for the reader, as for the writer, shall the great Portal swing open, and his feet be set on the Path. Annie Besant.

In a stirring manner, they unveil the fundamental roots of our shared human predicaments. His profound insights break the confines of society’s accepted ways of thinking, resonating with anyone willing to listen. In Think On These Things, Krishnamurti examines with characteristic objectivity and insight the expressions of what we are pleased to call our culture, our education, religion, politics and tradition; and he throws much light on such basic motivations as ambition, greed and envy, the desire for security and the lust for power—all of which he shows to be deteriorating factors in human society. He points out with uncompromising directness the false elements in our attitudes and institutions, and the implications of his remarks are profound and far-reaching.

Book Lives in the Shadow with J Krishnamurti

Download or read book Lives in the Shadow with J Krishnamurti written by Radha Rajagopal Sloss and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-08-31 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For nearly half a century the charismatic, strikingly handsome spiritual teacher J. Krishnamurti gathered an enormous following throughout Europe, India, Australia and North America. From the age of eighteen he was the forerunner of the type of iconoclasm that would bring immediate fame to cult figures in the late twentieth century. Yet recent biographies have left large areas of his life in mystifying darkness. This, however, is no ordinary study of Krishnamurti, for it is written by one whose earliest memories are dominated by his presence as a doting second fathertolerant of pranks and pets, playful and diligent. For over two decades in their Ojai California haven, where Aldous Huxley and other pacifists found respite during the war years,Krinsh developed his philosophical message. He also placed himself at the centre of her parents Rosalind and Rajagopals marriage. In a spirit of tenderness, fairness, objective inquiry, and no little remorse, the author traces the rise of Krishnamurti from obscurity in India by selection of the Theosophical Society to be the vehicle of a new incarnation of their world teacher. Breaking from Theosophy, Krishnamurti inspired his own following, retaining the dedication of his longtime friend Rajagopal, himself highly educated, to oversee all practicalities and the editing and publication of his writings. How this bond of trust was breached and became clouded in confusion with a new wave of devoteeism lies at the heart of this extraordinary story. So does a portrait of intense romantic intimacy and the conundrum of Krishnamurtis own complex character.

Book The Master and His Emissary

Download or read book The Master and His Emissary written by Iain McGilchrist and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2019-03-26 with total page 615 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new edition of the bestselling classic – published with a special introduction to mark its 10th anniversary This pioneering account sets out to understand the structure of the human brain – the place where mind meets matter. Until recently, the left hemisphere of our brain has been seen as the ‘rational’ side, the superior partner to the right. But is this distinction true? Drawing on a vast body of experimental research, Iain McGilchrist argues while our left brain makes for a wonderful servant, it is a very poor master. As he shows, it is the right side which is the more reliable and insightful. Without it, our world would be mechanistic – stripped of depth, colour and value.
