Book Happily Ever Island

Download or read book Happily Ever Island written by Crystal Cestari and published by Disney Electronic Content. This book was released on 2022-06-07 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to Happily Ever Island, the most pixie-dusted vacation a Disney fan could ever imagine. Head-in-the-clouds romantic Madison and driven pragmatist Lanie are unlikely best friends, but the two would do anything for each other. So when Madison's life starts to fall apart, Lanie agrees to join Madison for the test run of Disney's newest resort experience during their first college spring break: Happily Ever Island—an immersive vacation destination, where guests can become their favorite Disney character for a week. Madison decides to go as the iconic princess herself, Cinderella, with Lanie as bow-wielding Merida. It's not Lanie's idea of fun, but she knows Madison needs her, and besides, she could use the break from her strenuous courseload anyway. Plus, maybe she'll get to shoot things. But once on the island, Lanie and Madison begin to drift apart. Madison finds herself either missing out or messing up all the enchanting moments she has dreamt her whole life about, and is forever running into their annoyingly perfect (and distractingly cute) vacation's coordinator, Val. Meanwhile, Lanie unexpectedly finds herself swept up in the magic of it all. She strikes up a secret romance with Prince Charming—but there's no telling whether he's just playing a part. In this delightful YA rom-com inspired by Disney fandom, get swept up in a whirlwind of laughter, tears, and more than just a touch of Disney magic.

Book A Terrible and Terribly Interesting Epoch

Download or read book A Terrible and Terribly Interesting Epoch written by Alexandra Garbarini and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-11-15 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in association with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum This extraordinary wartime diary provides a rare glimpse into the daily life of French and foreign-born Jewish refugees under the Vichy regime during World War II. Long hidden, the diary was written by Lucien Dreyfus, a native of Alsacewho was a teacher at the most prestigious high school in Strasbourg, an editor of the leading Jewish newspaper of Alsace and Lorraine, the devoted father of an only daughter, and the doting grandfather of an only granddaughter. In 1939, after the French declaration of war on Hitler's Germany, Lucien and his wife, Marthe, were forced by the French state to leave Strasbourg along with thousands of other Jewish and non-Jewish residents of the city. The couple found refuge in Nice, on the Mediterranean coast in the south of France. Anti-Jewish laws prevented Lucien from resuming his teaching career and his work as a newspaper editor. But he continued to write, recording his trenchant reflections on the situation of France and French Jews under the Vichy regime. American visas allowed his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter to escape France in the spring of 1942 and establish new lives in the United States, but Lucien and Marthe were not so lucky. Rounded up during an SS raid in September 1943, they were deported and murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau two months later. As the only diary by an observant Jew raised bi-culturally in French and German, Dreyfus's writing offers a unique philosophical and moral reflection on the Holocaust as it was unfolding in France.

Book Are All Guys Assholes

Download or read book Are All Guys Assholes written by Amber Madison and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2011-09-29 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if everything you've been told about guys your entire life has been a lie? And what if your approach to sex, dating, and relationships is completely wrong, because it's based on false assumptions about how men think and feel? The idea that guys are "only interested in one thing," may help comedians, TV executives, and "dating gurus" make money, but it's not the truth. That's right-guys care about more than just sex, they don't have to be coaxed into relationships, and they deeply value emotional connections with women. How do we know? Because sex and dating expert Amber Madison asked them. She grilled more than a thousand guys in ten cities through interviews and surveys. She examined every stage of romantic relationships-from meeting a guy to getting serious with him-in order to find out what men really think, and why they do the things they do. Why do guys stop calling after a few dates? How can you tell if a guy actually likes you? How soon is too soon to have sex? Based on actual research, Are All Guys Assholes teaches you how to decipher and navigate any dating, hookup, or relationship situation. It explains the roots of some seemingly asshole-ish behaviors, and teaches you how to tell the good ones from the assholes once and for all. By the end, you'll never look at guys the same way again.
