Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the beginning, when the beautiful and sunny world was first made, there stood, in the very midst of all its beauty, Mt. Ida—a mountain so high, so far away up among the snowy clouds, that its summit was lost in the shining light of the rays of the sun. At its base, stretching away to the north, the south, the east, and the west, as far as even the eyes of the gods could reach, lay the soft, green valleys and the great, broad plain beyond. Encircling the whole great plain, and curling lovingly around in all the little bends and bays of the distant shore, lay the deep blue waters; and beyond the waters, hidden in the distant mists, rose the great mountains in which the frost giants dwelt. On the top of Mt. Ida, the gods had built their shining city, Asgard; and from its golden gateway to the valley below was stretched the richly-colored, rainbow bridge, with its wonderful bars of red and yellow and blue, orange and green, indigo and purple. And in this shining city, where the gods dwelt, there was no sorrow, no grief, no pain of any kind. Never was the sun’s light shut off by heavy clouds; never did the cruel lightnings flash, nor came their blights upon the harvest fields; never did the heavy rains fall, nor did the cold winds sweep down upon this shining city. But alas, there came a time when a shadow fell upon this city that shone so like a golden cloud resting upon the mountain peak. For the Fates, the three cruel sisters, came and took up their abode at the foot of the wonderful tree of Life, whose roots were in the earth, and whose branches, reaching high above the shining city, protected it from the sun’s fierce heat and strong white light. And from that time even the gods themselves were no longer free from care and sorrow. Envy sprang up among the children of the great god, Odin; sickness, and even death, fell upon them; and the frost giants waged war with them,—a war that would never cease in all the ages that were to come, until that day when the sun’s light went out forever, and the dark reign of Ragnarok fell upon the earth. It was a beautiful earth that lay stretched out at the foot of Mt. Ida. The fields were rich with grain; the trees were loaded with fruits; the sun shone warm and bright; but there were no harvesters, no gatherers of the fruit, no children to run and frolic in the sunshine.

Book excerpt: What if the Viking Age never ended? Welcome to Alfheim, the bright, beautiful realm of the light elves. Too bad every inch of it is overrun with Vikings. Twenty-year-old light elf Elin is just a simple flower farmer. It's dangerous work, but gold is gold, right? All she wants is to get through the summer raiding season without losing her flower farm or herself to Viking raiders. A romance with a friendly, peaceful farmer would be nice, too. If only the raiders were the greatest threat to Elin's survival. But the farmer isn't who Elin thought he was, and before long, Elin must also navigate the strange machinations of Viking kings and a keep full of backstabbing thralls. Then there's the mysterious, matchmaking Loki, who lurks about spreading colorful mist and distracting her from her work. Loki's only a figment of Elin's imagination, of course. No one else can see him, and Elin has an unfortunate habit of seeing things no one else sees. Well, there was that one time- No, he's only a hallucination. After all, Loki doesn't really exist. There are no other realms. Everyone knows that... ◆◆◆ This Golden Coil is the first book in Ragnarök's Edge, a historical fantasy series inspired by the mysterious light elves of Norse Mythology. This is a multi-book series following a single protagonist, with a thread of slow-burn, sweet romance running throughout.
Download or read book Infinite Creator Drive written by K J Gordon and published by K J Gordon. This book was released on 2015-06-01 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Infinite Creator Drive Is way beyond a great read'. It's an epic journey.' The Story makes for an awesome travelling companion for those surfers and holiday makers requiring a great adventure of the mind and spirit. K.J.Gordon has taken the beauty of Australia, the World and the Universe and presented not only a great read, it propels a world embracing free energy. And yes there are consequences of Biblical proportions. The story has several plots some shallow and funny some deep and thought provoking. Infinite Creator Drive is an interesting space journey of discovery - As well as being thoroughly entertaining. L.Haydn Gully June 2015 REVIEW Infinite Creator Drive is a revealing romp through space. There is an abundance of plausible technology and future incite from the author K J GORDON. And there are aspects which really make the reader stop and think. The concept dealing with superior alien life is very original and shows a depth in marine science and biochemistry which must remain un-discussed as not to spoil the surprise and or shock. The addition of DNA characters of legend add authentic aspects to the ‘life' discussion as it flows through the entire story line. And indeed, not without a twist in the tail. The story of Infinite Creator Drive has a depth of unusual twists and is not so much pitched as sprayed across the imagination. The reader needs to take stock of relative time as the journey hurtles through existing science on its way to find a new humanity. One needs the seatbelts well tightened for this journey, as well as safety gear for the powerful riding of surfing waves in Oz and on an amazing planet called Endev. The future tech of DNA manufacture, rolling through the subplots, is rather compelling as we are just discovering these future concepts for real. And one wonders at the authors incite. Here is a new science of science fiction written in the non-publishable genre of Aussie Fly Boys meet the most famous man on the planet, Science Fiction. The mind boggles at the ploy. It will never work? The fly boys, being surfer bums with attitude, while the most famous man of his time is an aboriginal man from Alice Springs. He invents anti-gravity. And yes the love interest would be worth meeting for real as her unordinary charm captivates in unusual ways. Lastly, there lies an interesting undercurrent of mental instability and aspergers twinkling lightly through the sub plots as well. The chapter on emotional balance as aspects of understanding Karma will stay with the reader long after they have shed a tear as the end draws near. Pyramid meditation will be required. Infinite Creator Drive is ironically well ahead of its time, past present and future. And the concept of who or what the Infinite Creator Drive is will check the reader's thought processors. And very lastly, the imagery will test the horizons of those prepared to take a journey that pumps the heart in its pace and yet brings a tear in emotive depth. Definitely too long for a movie but what a ride that would.

Download or read book Anna written by Norman Collins and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2011-10-28 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1942, Anna is the story of a woman and an era. Against the background of France and Germany at the time of the Franco-Prussian war of 1870, Norman Collins tells with great brilliance the story of Anna, a beautiful woman. Born in Rhineland, when she was nineteen she fell in love with a French cousin whom she followed to Paris on the eve of the outbreak of war. When he was killed by her compatriots she found herself in besieged Paris, destitute, alone, and a German. Thrown into prison, she got out only by marrying a middle-aged restaurateur for whom she had no feeling. These are the opening incidents in a novel which is full of incident, of tragedy and of adventure, and which carries Anna from France to Germany, and finally to England, where at last she finds both peace and happiness. Few historical novels have a wider scope, a more enchanting heroine and a stronger theme. Here is one of the best of Norman Collins' major novels.
