Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paperback. This publication contains 19 papers on extraterrestrial complex organic chemistry, in direct relation to prebiotic chemistry and exobiology, the study of the origins, evolution and distribution of life in the universe. The papers are presented within three main parts. Part I presents the complex organics in interstellar clouds. Part II presents the complex organics in meteorites, interplanetary dust, comets and Mars, and finally part III presents the complex organics in the outer solar system. The papers cover the various aspects of such organic compounds. This includes their physical and chemical nature, approached through experimental simulation (on ground and in Earth orbit) and other studies in the laboratory as well as through theoretical modelling. This also includes their occurrence in the universe, evidenced from remote sensing observations, past, present and future (in particular, through Cassini-Huygens and Rosetta missions).

Book Planetary Ionospheres and Magnetospheres

Download or read book Planetary Ionospheres and Magnetospheres written by COSPAR. Scientific Assembly and published by Elsevier Science & Technology. This book was released on 1997 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paperback. The study of planetary Ionospheres and Magnetospheres has advanced dramatically in the past two decades, both through careful and increasingly sophisticated analysis of data returned by space probes and through theoretical studies supplemented by extensive computer simulations. The thirty-one papers presented in this volume on planetary ionospheres and magnetospheres include papers on the ionospheres and magnetospheres of Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Pluto and comet Halley. Papers are included that describe observations from many spacecraft missions to the planets and to small solar system bodies. This volume is divided into three sections dealing with: Venus and Mars, the gas giant planets with emphasis on Jupiter and the small bodies in the solar system (Pluto, Io, comets). In the first section the emphasis is on Mars (9 out of 11 papers), providing background relevant to some of the upcoming missions that will target this planet in the closing year

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paperback. The Symposium DO.3, Particle Acceleration in Space Plasmas, was held from 18-20 July, 1996 at the 31st Scientific Assembly of COSPAR that was held at the University of Birmingham, England. Forty-five papers were presented, including seven solicited, twenty-eight oral, and ten poster papers. Twenty papers ultimately were submitted and accepted for publication. These papers are an excellent cross-section of the science discussed at the Symposium.

Book Orbit Determination and Analysis

Download or read book Orbit Determination and Analysis written by COSPAR. Scientific Assembly and published by Elsevier Science & Technology. This book was released on 1997 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paperback. This publication contains the proceedings of the meetings of the COSPAR Technical Panel on Satellite Dynamics which took place during the 31st Cospar Scientific Assembly held in Birmingham (UK) in July 1996. The 20 papers cover a variety of topics relating mainly to satellite orbit determination and analysis. A group of papers discusses orbit determination of low earth orbiters, in particular earth observation and research missions having high accuracy and using various various types of tracking support (data relay satellites, PRARE, laser, GPS). Two papers on geostationary orbits describe a project for their use in time-transfer and their evolution with time. Modelling problems associated with surface forces are analysed by a number of authors (an overview paper on Lageos perturbation models; the impact of surface forces on gravity models covering penumbra affects, numerical integration and attitude motion). One paper describes a visualisation

Book The Sun and Its Atmosphere

    Book Details:
  • Author : COSPAR. Scientific Commission E. E2.1 Symposium
  • Publisher : Pergamon
  • Release : 1997
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 210 pages

Download or read book The Sun and Its Atmosphere written by COSPAR. Scientific Commission E. E2.1 Symposium and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 1997 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paperback. This publication contains 29 papers on topics concerning the physics of the solar atmosphere. Papers were presented at a symposium on this subject at the thirty-first COSPAR Scientific Assembly, held in Birmingham, UK 1996. Most of the observations reported in this volume are from the recently commissioned SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) spacecraft and from the Yohkoh satellite which has been successfully observing the sun during its evolution from maximum to minimum activity during the twenty-second solar cycle. The SOHO-based papers include the first observations of the solar corona in the ultraviolet domain. This allows a description of the plasma conditions not only in the inner solar atmosphere but, for the first time, also in the extended corona. The Yohkoh-based papers include studies on flares and on the evolution of the corona during the solar cycle. Some of the contributions report on the development in spectral diagnosis a

Book Planetary Atmospheres and Ionospheres and Reference Atmospheres

Download or read book Planetary Atmospheres and Ionospheres and Reference Atmospheres written by COSPAR. Scientific Assembly and published by Elsevier Science & Technology. This book was released on 1997 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paperback. This publication contains 18 papers on the planetary atmospheres and ionospheres, and reference atmospheres. The papers survey the latest results, including experimental and numerical modelling and theoretical research of the atmospheres of planets. Presented are inputs in updating the Venus (VIRA) and Mars (Mars-GRAM) reference atmosphere models based on new data obtained over the last decade and the results of reanalysis of the previous experiments. Special attention is now drawn to Mars, which is in a focus of space probe investigations. Numerical modellings, using Mars general circulation models describe dynamical, thermal and seasonal processes, which take place in the Martian atmosphere. The data obtained in these studies are of interest not only for science, but also for engineering, for planning and designing missions. Some scientific instruments on Mars spacecraft and their scientific goals are presented.

Book Atmospheric Tidal Dynamics and E and D region Physics

Download or read book Atmospheric Tidal Dynamics and E and D region Physics written by COSPAR. Scientific Assembly and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 1998 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paperback. Our knowledge of the dynamics of the upper atmosphere has increased substantially with the launch of NASA's Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS). The winds associated with tides and planetary scale disturbances have been found to be significantly larger than expected. What has been even more surprising is the extent to which airglow variability is controlled by these dynamics. Variations in airglow emission rate have been observed for many decades, but until the global scale picture became available, their origin remained a mystery. Hence this session on Influence of Tides on Species Concentrations was particularly timely. This volume consists of papers presented at the session, including model results, satellite observations, and ground-based observations. What is clear from this volume is the very dominant role of dynamics in airglow variability and species concentrations. Experimental papers deal with GLO observations of E- and F-
