Download or read book Selective Glycosylations written by Clay S. Bennett and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-01-25 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive summary of novel approaches to the stereoselective construction of glycosidic linkages, covering modern glycosylation methods and their use and application in natural product synthesis and drug discovery. Clearly divided into five sections, the first describes recent advances in classical methodologies in carbohydrate chemistry, while the second goes on to deal with newer chemistries developed to control selectivity in glycosylation reactions. Section three is devoted to selective glycosylation reactions that rely on the use of catalytic promoters. Section four describes modern approaches for controlling regioselectivity in carbohydrate synthesis. The final section focuses on new developments in the construction of "unusual" sugars and is rounded off by a presentation of modern procedures for the construction of glycosylated natural products. By providing the latest advances in glycosylation as well as information on mechanistic aspects of the reaction, this is an invaluable reference for both specialists and beginners in this booming interdisciplinary field that includes carbohydrate chemistry, organic synthesis, catalysis, and biochemistry.
Download or read book C Furanosides written by Peter Goekjian and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2017-11-30 with total page 796 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carbon analogs of carbohydrates, dubbed C-glycosides, have remained an important and interesting class of mimetics, be it in natural product synthesis, for pharmacological applications, as conformational probes, or for biological studies. C-Furanosides: Synthesis and Stereochemistry provides a much-needed overview of synthetic and stereochemical principles for C-furanosides: analogs of a 5-membered ring carbohydrate glycoside (furanoside), in which the anomeric oxygen has been replaced with a carbon. While our understanding of conformational behavior and of stereoselective synthesis in 6-membered ring compounds is quite good, our ability to predict the conformation of 5-membered ring compounds, or to predict the stereochemical outcome of a given reaction, remains anecdotal. Through a comprehensive review of literature approaches to the different C-furanoside stereoisomers, as well as an interpretation of the outcome in terms of a reasonable number of stereochemical models, C-Furanosides: Synthesis and Stereochemistry enables the reader to determine the best approach to a particular C-glycoside compound, and also hopes to provide a certain level of rationalization and predictability for the synthesis of new systems. - Provides a comprehensive review of the growing literature in C-furanosides - Enables readers to choose the most convenient approach to access a defined target in natural products synthesis or pharmacology and make reasonable predictions for the stereochemical outcome in unpublished cases - Explores the various rational models for stereochemical analysis of furanoside reactivity, with a clear distinction made between physical chemical mechanisms and stereochemical models

Download or read book Modern Synthetic Methods in Carbohydrate Chemistry written by Daniel B. Werz and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-12-23 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fields of glycochemistry and glycoscience are rich and varied and where much can be learned from Nature. As Nature is not always able to produce carbohydrates in quantities useful for not only in research but also as therapeutic agents, new ways need to be found to optimize the yield. This book presents an overview of the latest developments in the field of carbohydrates, ranging from de-novo approaches via cyclodextrin chemistry to the synthesis of such highly complex glycoconjugates as glycosphingolipids and GPI anchors. The main emphasis remains on the synthetic aspects making the book an excellent source of information for those already involved in carbohydrate chemistry, as well as for those organic chemists who are beginners in this field. Equally of interest to synthetic chemists, as well as medicinal chemists and biochemists.
Download or read book Glycoenzymes written by Masatake Ōnishi and published by S. Karger AG (Switzerland). This book was released on 2000 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In living organisms, glyco-materials (beta-glycans, their oligosaccharides, and glyco-chains) play a decisive role in such biological processes as signal transduction, cell adhesion, fertilization, transport, and immunity. For industrial production, glyco-materials are inexhaustible and renewable resources. beta-glycans, for instance, are essential for the commercial production of food stuffs and other industrial products. The present volume focuses on the glyco-enzymes, which catalyze the reactions (hydrolysis, transfer, and condensation) of glyco-materials and are thus critical for their industrial utilization.
