Download or read book Think Outside The Box Concerning Marriage written by Richard Szalecki and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2023-06-29 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you taken into consideration the spiritual aspects of Christian marriage? There’s more significance to the Christian marriage than just the “I do’s”, going on the honeymoon and the day-to-day living that couples experience. “Think Outside the Box Concerning Marriage” breaks some new ground in giving understanding of the spiritual aspects of Christian marriage. First of all, God didn’t punish Adam and Eve for eating the forbidden fruit. God set Adam and Eve in right relationship with God and each other so neither of them would have an independent spirit from God and each other. “Think Outside the Box Concerning Marriage” paints a beautiful picture of the spiritual aspect of Christian marriage. Ephesians 5 talks about it in detail. The key verse is Ephesians 5:21, “Submitting yourselves to one another in the fear of God.” This flies in the face of traditional church teaching that the husband “wears the pants in the family.” The scripture in Ephesians 5 that the husband “wears the pants in the family”. Although the husband is noted as being the head of the wife, the assignment is more for responsibility and accountability toward God. This book explains that Christian marriage is a picture of Christ and the church. The man is instructed to love his wife as Christ loved the church by loving it and giving Himself for it. The wife is instructed to reverence her husband. The passage proclaims that Christian marriage is a picture of the resurrected Christ, that we are of His flesh and of His bones.-Ephesians 5:30, Simplified KJV. This gives the marriage resurrected life.

Book excerpt: An eye-opening, funny, painful, and always truthful in-depth examination of modern relationships, and a wake-up call for single women about getting real about Mr. Right, from the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe You Should Talk to Someone. You have a fulfilling job, great friends, and the perfect apartment. So what if you haven’t found “The One” just yet. He’ll come along someday, right? But what if he doesn’t? Or what if Mr. Right had been, well, Mr. Right in Front of You—but you passed him by? Nearing forty and still single, journalist Lori Gottlieb started to wonder: What makes for lasting romantic fulfillment, and are we looking for those qualities when we’re dating? Are we too picky about trivial things that don’t matter, and not picky enough about the often overlooked things that do? In Marry Him, Gottlieb explores an all-too-common dilemma—how to reconcile the desire for a happy marriage with a list of must-haves and deal-breakers so long and complicated that many great guys get misguidedly eliminated. On a quest to find the answer, Gottlieb sets out on her own journey in search of love, discovering wisdom and surprising insights from sociologists and neurobiologists, marital researchers and behavioral economists—as well as single and married men and women of all generations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For centuries, people attempted to know, why religion? What are the roots of religion? Can we function and lead a decent, moral, meaningful, and good life without blindly believing religious dogmas? So many questions are in the human mind. We are the superior species of all species on earth, and thus, we are free to think, gather new knowledge, innovate, and create new things by virtue of our brains capability and power. This natural gift prompts us to ask unending questions and find answers to those questions. But religions block our freethinking and suggest not thinking beyond the holy books but believing them blindly. This is like totalitarianism modus operandi that silences the dissents. This is an important book and the first of its kind that gives a challenging proposition as to how we can live a good, moral, productive, and meaningful life without instilling blind religious faith but to think rationally and lead life with reason, progress, prosperity, and happinessa humanistic life. We just need new principles based on scientific worldview, that is, science, technology, progress, civilization, and humanity growing together. Conventional religions cannot free people, but freethinking, knowledge, and karma can. The most realistic approach is one world, one life, one god, one universal religionhumanity.

Download or read book Marriage Confidential written by Pamela Haag and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2011-05-31 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “In this timely and thought-provoking analysis of modern coupledom, Pamela Haag paints a vivid tableau of the ‘semi-happy’ couple. Written with wit and aplomb, this page turner will instigate an insurrection against our marital complacency.” —Esther Perel, author of Mating in Captivity Written with the persuasive power of Naomi Wolf and the analytical skills of Susan Faludi, Pamela Haag’s provocative but sympathetic look at the state of marriage today answers—and goes beyond—the question many of us are asking: "Is this all there is?" Marriage Confidential tackles this question with bracing candor, taking us inside a world where romantic ideas have given way to a "post-romantic" mood and a fair number of marriages end up "semi-happy." It's a world where the husbands of "workhorse wives" pursue the Having It All dream that married women have abandoned; where children have migrated from the children's table to the centerpiece; and where technology, demography, and economy place unprecedented stresses on marital fidelity. Among other examples of marriage trailblazers, Haag even presents a case for how updated ideas of non-monogamy might be an option for the future. Uniquely weaving together cultural commentary, memoir, storytelling, history, and research, Marriage Confidential gives us a riveting glimpse of what the future of marriage might look like.

Family advocate Kay James calls these the "things I wish I had known before I got married": advice on finances, sex, children, and dealing with the extended family. Noting that the apostle Paul exhorted older women not to inspire or counsel younger women, but to teach them how to be wives to their husbands, Kay offers a lifetime's wealth of wisdom for creating an unbreakable marriage relationship.

Download or read book Why Smart Men Marry Smart Women written by Christine B. Whelan and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2006-10-17 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For years, it's been "common knowledge" that once a woman hits thirty, her chances of finding a husband diminish to the point of despair. That men are intimidated by a woman's career success, preferring docile helpmates to ambitious achievers. That women are biologically driven to seek a strong provider. That the higher a woman's IQ, the less likely she is to marry, let alone have babies...leaving single, successful women to ask themselves: Are men intimidated by smart women? In Why Smart Men Marry Smart Women, Christine B. Whelan shatters the myth that high-achieving women are at a disadvantage in the marriage market. There's good news for the millions of American SWANS (Strong Women Achievers, No Spouse): that today's smart, successful women marry at the same rates as all other women -- and that more income and education may in fact increase a woman's chances of marriage. What's more, as Dr. Whelan shows through newly released U.S. Census data, a large-scale Harris Interactive survey commissioned especially for this book, plus extended interviews conducted in cities nationwide, this profound demographic shift shows every sign of progressing. That means that the "success penalty" that has endured for generations is, as soon as 2010, destined for the history books. Accomplished daughters, sisters, and friends (not to mention their mothers) can finally stop worrying that the twin pinnacles of personal and professional happiness are inherently unattainable. In fact, smart men do marry SWANS. Ninety percent of high-achieving men surveyed want a woman who is as intelligent or more intelligent than they are. And two-thirds of men said they believed smart women make better mothers. Pairing cutting-edge research with sound advice, Dr. Whelan brings to mind what smart women everywhere have long known in their hearts: that the goal is not just to get married, but to have a good marriage, and to lead a fulfilled life.
