Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The setting of the story takes place in the mysterious and magical city of New Orleans. An overwhelmed homicide detective hooks up with a rookie detective assigned to investigate minor thefts. The first case assigned to the rookie detective is a theft of two flowerpots from a cemetery. The rookie, apprehensive of his investigative knowledge, solicits help from the seasoned homicide detective. The case quickly evolves from a pair of plundered flowerpots to a million dollar operation involving several owners of the City's most exquisite and prominent antique shops. Together, the two become hopelessly lost in some of the city's most majestic burial grounds; known as the world famous "Cities of the Dead." During the investigation, the two detectives begin to notice several strange and unexplainable coincidences that seem to guide their every move. After some time, they manage to put aside their macho police attitudes; and learn to accept the fact that they were catapulted into the realm of the spiritual world--and the supernatural. The wacky and zany antics by the rookie and the straightforward nature of the homicide detective make for an unusual, but most effective, crime fighting partnership. And . . . just when the two detectives thought they had pushed the investigation to the limit, the case explodes, and leads them directly into a morbid, voodoo, serial murder plot of millennial proportions. Finally, the investigation reveals a suspect who is linked in the disappearance of the homicide detective's missing sister from when he was a child. In the end, the two detectives accept and understand the reasons for the spiritual interventions. As a result, hundreds of Lost Souls in the "Cities of the Dead" were freed from their torment, and the demons were finally revealed in a tremendous battle between the powers of good and evil. But, at what cost . . . Although the story is fictional, it is inspired from a true-life investigation involving the two detectives who authored this story. It is a spin off of certain events concerning the theft of stolen cemetery artifacts. We leave it totally up to the reader to decipher the fictional occurrences, and any similarities to persons or parties involved with the actual investigation are totally coincidental and unintentional.

As with all of Wharton’s books, it combines painstaking research with numerous contributions from British soldiers who were. The title refers to an IRA tactic of warning fellow Republicans when one of their gunmen was about to cause havoc. When British soldiers hear the words “Sir, they're taking the kids indoors”, they understood that violence was imminent. On the streets of Belfast or Londonberry, British soldiers had to be ready to face a deadly threat at any moment. By focusing exclusively on the 1973–74 period, This volume provides greater detail than hitherto possible about the British Army and their experience during this bloody and important period of the Troubles.

Book Human Trafficking

Download or read book Human Trafficking written by Marie Segrave and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-12-05 with total page 638 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human trafficking captured the attention of the global community well over a decade ago, inspiring multifarious international, national, regional and local responses. While formally recognized as one of the major threats associated with transnational organized crime, human trafficking remains an issue about which much has been written and yet little is known or supported by empirical evidence. The essays selected for this volume reflect four key areas of debate: the transnational organized crime framework; the data and research landscape; the implementation of anti-trafficking responses; and the articulation of alternative responses to human trafficking. These essays are written by well-known and more recent contributors to this field of research. The collection draws attention to contemporary arguments as well as recent empirical research, and points to the importance of contextualizing human trafficking within both the global and local setting. This volume reflects where human trafficking data, research and debate is currently located and where it is heading, and as such is of interest to academics, students, policymakers and practitioners.

Book excerpt: Oh Posterity! You will never know, how much it cost the present generation, to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven, that I ever took half the pains to preserve it. --John Adams, April 26, 1777. Amidst the political divisions that exist today, many Americans believe the Founding Fathers would roll over in their graves if they saw what posterity did with their divine creation. Oh, Posterity! What Have You Done? explores what the Founding Fathers might say to us if given the opportunity in this piece of historical fiction. Is modern America anything close to what they intended? Have twenty-first-century Americans forgotten who they were and subsequently who we are? Have we lost our way, and what will it take to get us back on track and in the good graces of the Almighty? Follow God's new messenger, William Justice Freeman, as he is charged by Providence with the task of breathing new life into the founding generation's words in the hopes of saving the country. Starting on January 6, 2021, and ending on July 2, 2024--prior to an election that could be a turning point in the cause of human freedom--see what the Founders think of modern America as they are given the opportunity to live among us for three years, culminating in eight thought-provoking interviews with Mr. Freeman. Do they believe America can be saved? Why is individual free will so important to the Almighty? Are freedom and democracy synonymous, or has posterity forgotten what the principle of freedom even means? Can Americans regain a connection to the revolutionary generation and understand what they gave us some 250 years ago? Join William Freeman as he attempts to wake America up to its forgotten purpose in the world!

Book Tarot Card Meanings

Download or read book Tarot Card Meanings written by Kevin Hunter and published by Warrior of Light Press. This book was released on 2016-11-16 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tarot Card Meanings is an encyclopedia reference guide that takes the Tarot apprentice reader through each of the 78 Tarot Cards offering the potential general meanings and interpretations that could be applied when conducting a reading, whether it be spiritual, love, general, or work related questions. Many novices struggle with reading the Tarot as they want to know what a card can mean in their readings. They grow stuck staring at several cards sitting side by side having no idea what it could be telling them. The Tarot Card Meanings book can assist by pointing you in the general direction of where to look. It will not give you the ultimate answers and should not be taken verbatim, as that is up to you as the reader to come to that conclusion. The more you practice, read, and study the Tarot, then the better you become. Tarot Card Meanings avoids diving into the Tarot history, or card spreads and symbolism, but instead focuses solely on the potential meanings of a card in a reading. This is by giving you a structure to jump off of, but it is up to you to take that energy and add the additional layers to your reading, while trusting your higher self, intuition, instincts and Spirit team’s guidance and messages. Author, Kevin Hunter, is a lifelong clairaudient and claircognizant who has written more than a dozen spiritually based empowerment books that have assisted readers around the world in improving their well-being, while also helping them become stronger conduits with Spirit, Heaven, and the Other Side. Anything included in the Tarot Card Meanings book is an overview and not intended to be gospel. It is merely one suggested version of the potential meanings of each of the 78 Tarot cards in a reading. This is an easy to understand manual for the Tarot novice that is having trouble interpreting cards for themselves, or a Tarot reader who loves the craft and is looking for a refresher or another point of view. NOTE: The Tarot Card Meanings book does not include a Tarot deck.
