Book The Future of Higher Education

Download or read book The Future of Higher Education written by Dan Clawson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-08-06 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Higher education is more important than ever, for individual success and for national economic growth. And yet higher education in the United States is in crisis: public funding has been in free fall; tuition has skyrocketed making colleges and universities less accessible; basic structures such as tenure are under assault. The Future of Higher Education analyzes the crisis in higher education, describing how a dominant neo-liberal political ideology has significantly changed the U.S. system of higher education. The book examines the contemporary landscape of higher education institutions and asks and answers these questions: Who is able to attend college? Who pays for our system of higher education? Who works at and who governs colleges and universities? The book concludes with a plan for radically revitalizing higher education in the United States. The goal of this new, unique Series is to offer readable, teachable "thinking frames" on today’s social problems and social issues by leading scholars, all in short 60 page or shorter formats, and available for view on http://routledge.customgateway.com/routledge-social-issues.html For instructors teaching a wide range of courses in the social sciences, the Routledge Social Issues Collection now offers the best of both worlds: originally written short texts that provide "overviews" to important social issues as well as teachable excerpts from larger works previously published by Routledge and other presses.

Book Remembering the Sabbatical Years of 2016

Download or read book Remembering the Sabbatical Years of 2016 written by Joseph F. Dumond and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-02-21 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Remembering the Sabbatical years of 2016, was written as simply as possible to explain how anyone could prove fro their own Bibles when the Sabbatical and Jubilee Years are. Having written The Prophecies of Abraham in 2010, many people struggled to understand the chronology, which is crucial in order to know precisely where we are in these last days now. Because so many struggled we wrote Remembering the Sabbatical years of 2016 so that even an 8 year old could then explain it. Remembering the Sabbatical year of 2016 shows you all the known biblical, historical and artifacts that mention the Sabbatical years. Then we show you how they all line up with each other and from that you can count down to our time now. We also show you where the Sabbatical years were derailed in history and taken away from the proper time of observing them. Once you have read this book and proven these facts for yourself, then you will understand we are in the 120th Jubilee cycle. Then once you see the curses that have been set out in a specific order of events, the nightly news becomes surreal as you can then see these curses happening on the news. Order you copy of Remembering the Sabbatical year of 2016 today and begin to understand these last days unlike anyone else ever has.

Download or read book The Sabbath written by C. H. Pappas ThM and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2017-11-14 with total page 101 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When it comes to the doctrine of the Sabbath, many are confused. Some are so confused that they are asking how many commandments are there, nine or ten? Has the fourth commandment been abrogated or is it still binding? If the fourth commandment stands, then on what day are we to observe the Sabbath, on Saturday or Sunday? Or does it really matter just as long as we take off one day in the week? Others have come to think that all the commandments have been abrogated. Is this true? A more searching question is asked, Is the typical Christian community correct in observing the Sabbath on the first day of the week? Or does the fourth commandment mandate the Sabbath to be observed on seventh day? Still others are asking, is the Sabbath Day and the Lords Day same or are they different? As one can readily see, these questions are troubling to many professing Christians. They are confused as the doctrine of the Sabbath is no longer addressed. However, the more searching question is, if the fourth commandment stands, have we provoked our Lord to anger in failing to observer the Sabbath as we ought? If we are to observe it, then how is the Sabbath to be observed? It is the writers conviction that we are not only to observe the Sabbath, but also until we do, there will be no revival in this country no matter how fervently we may fast and pray. The doctrine of the Sabbath is essential to the life of the church and the liberties we once enjoy as a nation before it was infected with this liberation theology. We must heed the divine mandate coming down from God to Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy (Exodus 20:8).

Book The Doctrine of the Sabbath

  • Release : 2018-08-23
  • ISBN : 9781725943797
  • Pages : 54 pages

Download or read book The Doctrine of the Sabbath written by John Prideaux and published by . This book was released on 2018-08-23 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Prideaux, 'Doctrine of the Sabbath', is reproduced to help Christians who have been troubled by those seeking to bind them to the keeping of the Sabbath day as given by Moses.Since the Reformation there has been much debate and discussion on the subject of the Sabbath Day and Lord's Day and whether the 10 Commandments are the binding rule of conduct on all men.It is the view of the publisher that it is a mistake to divide the Law of Moses up in to moral and ceremonial parts and to classify the 10 commandments as moral and all other commandments as ceremonial. We do not accept that the 10 commandments were given to Adam as a covenant of works and binding upon all humanity. We do not believe this to be the case.We also maintain that the 10 commandments were not given as a covenant to all men, promising eternal life to those who kept them.We believe that scripture teaches the Law of Moses was given to the nation of Israel at Mount Sinai after their exodus from Egypt. This was the old covenant of works and binding upon all the natural seed of Israel who were required to be circumcised and keep the law. This was the Old Covenant and a covenant of works, with blessing and curses promised to all those under it. This is done away for all believers in Christ. We point out that we believe the Lord Jesus Christ came, in the fullness of time, to redeem those who were under the law. Galatians 3:14-29. That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. That his atoning death of Christ was for all his chosen people throughout time, who consisted of both Jew and Gentile styled in scripture as the whole world and called the church. We maintain that the Lord Jesus fulfilled the Law with all its demands bringing it to a fulfilling end for all his elect when he died and rose again from the dead.It is also pointed out that Jesus spoke to a great company of people and women which bewailed him , saying, 'The days are coming, in which they shall say blessed are the barren, and the wombs, that never bare, and the pap's which never gave suck . Then shall they begin to say to the mountains fall on us; and to the hills cover us. For if they do these things in the green tree, what shall be done in the dry. Luke 23. 31.For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. Luke 21. 32.The destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in 70 A.D. was by the hand of the risen ascended Christ, as prophesied in the book of Revelation, As David Chiltern points out, "Scripture connects as one theological Event - the Advent - Christ's birth, life, resurrection, ascension, the outpouring of His Spirit upon the Church in A.D. 30, and the outpouring of His wrath upon Israel in the Holocaust of A.D. 66-70." (p. 285)(On Matthew 24:13)"We must remember that "the end" in this passage is not the end of the world, but rather the end of the age, the end of the Temple, the sacrificial system, the covenant nation of Israel, and the last remnants of the pre-Christian era." (Days of Vengeance, p. 89)"(The Book of Revelation) is about the destruction of Israel and Christ's victory over His enemies in the establishment of the New Covenant Temple. In fact, as we shall see, the word coming as used in the Book of Revelation never refers to the Second Coming. Revelation prophesies the judgment of God on apostate Israel; and while it does briefly point to events beyond its immediate concerns, that is done merely as a "wrap-up," to show that the ungodly will never prevail against Christ's Kingdom. But the main focus of Revelation is upon events which were soon to take place." (Days of Vengeance, p. 43)The passage in Rev 6:15-17) "Is not speaking of the End of the World, but the End of Israel in A.D.70."The Old Covenant as given by Moses has been fulfilled, it has vanished away, and the New Covenant has taken its place.

Book A Layman s Challenge to the Rapture Theory

Download or read book A Layman s Challenge to the Rapture Theory written by Peter Bellone and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-01-12 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christian doctrine teaches that one day in the unforeseen future, Jesus Christ is going to appear in the clouds above the earth; and with a shout, he is going to rapture (catch up) all Christians! Then in a moment, they are going to rise and join Jesus in the air, and then be taken to heaven, where they will forever be with the Lord. This English word rapture is a translation of the Latin word Rapiemur, which also is a substitute for the Greek word harpazo, which means "to be caught up" which is taken from Paul's letter to the Thessalonians, referring to the fact that Jesus is going to 'catch up' all Christians living and dead! It is also possible that the use of the term Rapture in describing this event, was used, because in the English language, Rapture means an intense feeling of pleasure or joy! This Rapture theory was first championed in the early 1800s by a Protestant clergyman by the name of John Darby, who was recovering from an illness. And while studying his Bible, came upon the realization that Jesus was going to first come for his saints, take them to heaven, and then, sometime later, Jesus was going to return to earth, defeat Satan, and then the end of the world was going to come about! It is this theory that has been taught to Christian church goers throughout the ensuing years. And with this rapture, there is a secondary teaching that when Jesus comes for his people, there will be many airplanes, trains, and automobiles that will be driver/pilot-less and will go crashing to the ground, killing untold millions all over the globe. It is with this information in mind that we explore the truth of this Rapture theory and if what John Darby taught is true or not. We will look at all the relevant scriptures pertaining to this theory, which then brings us to look at God's seven annual holy days. Why, because these days reflect the plan of God for the redemption of all mankind and points us toward this day of rapture! Therefore, the object of this book is not to titillate you about Jesus' secret coming as others have done, nor to scare you if you were to be left behind! No, the purpose of this book is to teach you the truth of what really happens when this day finally arrives! In addition, it is important to understand what exactly is salvation, and this rapture theory definitely pertains to your salvation! Therefore, you deserve to know the truth because everything else takes you away from God, and it is the truth that will set you free! --Peter
