Sans faire référence aux propriétés thermochimiques des systèmes ni à la combustion, seul le calcul des cycles est examiné. Les systèmes de propulsion anaérobie (moteur fusée) n'y sont pas décrits, compte tenu de l'absence de pièce mécanique productrice de travail. La troisième partie est dédiée aux calculs qui président à la conception et au fonctionnement des moteurs alternatifs à combustion interne. Elle comporte également un rappel des paramètres et relations importantes mis en jeu et elle est accompagnée d'une série de problèmes faisant toujours référence à des cas pratiques.

Heat transfer processes are treated in Part II. Part III covers the pressure-velocity diagram for ideal gases and new types of diagram valid, for example, for gases with varying specific heats. The fundamental structure of the diagrams is considered at the beginning of each section and the behaviour of the curves is derived from the basic equations of thermodynamics. The available working diagrams are described and reviewed and details are given of the range of validity, the dimensions of the diagrams and the units used. (Author).
