Book Note on the Migration of Explosion Bubbles

Download or read book Note on the Migration of Explosion Bubbles written by J. C. Decius and published by . This book was released on 1949 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of the migration of the bubble formed by the gaseous products of an underwater explosion is review, particular care being taken to state the assumptions involved and to indicate their validity. The theory is then compared with the experimental data available at the Underwater Explosives Laboratory by graphical mean. The comparison show that the theory correctly predicts the migration for charges weighing less than 25 lbs but predicts too great a migration for larger charges except when the larger charges are very deep.

Book Underwater Explosion Bubbles III

Download or read book Underwater Explosion Bubbles III written by Ignace I. Kolodner and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-21 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Underwater Explosion Bubbles III: The Effects of the Surface and the Bottom on the Shape and Motion of the Bubble In our first report, Underwater Explosion Bubbles I, [l], we considered a compressible liquid and showed that the oscillations would then be damped. In our second report, Underwater Explosion Bubbles II, we considered gravity and showed how it would effect the shape of the bubble and also cause it to rise. In the present report we consider the effects of the water surface and bottom in addition to gravity, and show how they effect the shape and motion of the bubble. Book Water Waves Generated by Underwater Explosion

Download or read book Water Waves Generated by Underwater Explosion written by Bernard Le Mehaute and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book on explosion-generated water waves. It presents the theoretical foundations and experimental results of the generation and propagation of impulsively generated waves resulting from underwater explosions. Many of the theories and concepts presented herein are applicable to other types of water waves, in particular, tsunamis and waves generated by the fall of a meteorite. Linear and nonlinear theories, as well as experimental calibrations, are presented for cases of deep and shallow water explosions. Propagation of transient waves on dissipative, nonuniform bathymetries together with laboratory simulations are analyzed and discussed.

Book An Evaluation of Various Theoretical Models for Underwater Explosion Bubble Pulsation

Download or read book An Evaluation of Various Theoretical Models for Underwater Explosion Bubble Pulsation written by John W. Pritchett and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A number of theoretical calculations of the motion of a spherical underwater explosion bubble oscillating in an incompressible homogeneous unbounded inviscid fluid are presented, using various 'models' for the behavior of the bubble interior. The purpose of this study was to find an adequate representation for use in axisymmetric calculations of underwater nuclear explosion effects in which the bubble may become non-spherical due to the effects of gravity and/or nearby boundaries.

Book Model Studies of the Behavior of Underwater Explosion Bubbles in Contact with a Rigid Bottom

Download or read book Model Studies of the Behavior of Underwater Explosion Bubbles in Contact with a Rigid Bottom written by and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The behavior of the explosion bubble in contact with a rigid bottom was investigated on a small scale using high speed photography. The experiments were carried out in a vacuum tank with 0.2-gram charges fired above a 2-inch thick aluminum plate. Test conditions were varied by small increments so that a complex sequence of changing bubble behavior--from bubbles which remained intact on the bottom, to bubbles which split into two or more parts, to bubbles which separated from the bottom intact--was observed. A qualitative description of the bubble behavior along with its dimensions at maximum volume and--for strongly migrating bubbles--at minimum volume is presented in dimensionless form as a function of the inverse Froude number, the amplitude of oscillation, and the distance to the water surface. The qualitative behavior appears to be different from that observed with HE field tests on cratering bottoms. Other factors being equal, there appears to be a greater tendency for a bubble to stick to a cratering bottom.
