Book Crisis In Lutheran Theology Vol 2

Download or read book Crisis In Lutheran Theology Vol 2 written by John Warwick Montgomery and published by New Reformation Publications. This book was released on 2018-01-27 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All Three volumes deal with the issue of biblical inerrancy (that the Bible is completely true and accurate, not only when it speaks to ideas of religious belief, but also when it speaks about factual elements of history and science, properly understood). This issue rocked the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, prompting the release of the first two volumes. Volume one consists of essays by John Warwick Montgomery himself, and is addressed primarily to theologians. Volume two consists of an anthology by eight separate Lutheran contributors and is addressed to laymen as well as professional theologians. Volume 3 is new, never before published material and consists of essays by Dr. Montgomery outlining a new challenge along the same lines. Dr. Jeffery Kloha suggested a few years ago with the latest critical edition of the New Testament (Nestle-Aland 28th Edition), because of the interchangeability of some variant readings, that we now had a "plastic text". Dr. Montgomery goes up against this assertion with everything he has. Though obviously addressing themselves primarily to Lutheranism, the materials are, to a large degree, equally applicable to many of the other Christian communions and will be found to be extremely valuable in assessing the needs of a variety of denominations.

In the previous book, Muller attempted to situate Calvin's theological work in their historical context and to strip away various twentieth-century theological grids that have clouded our perceptions of the work of the Reformer. In the present book, Muller carries this approach forward, with the goal of overcoming a series of nineteenth- and twentieth-century theological frameworks characteristic of much of the scholarship on Reformed orthodoxy, or what might be called "Calvinism after Calvin."

Download or read book Theologia et Apologia written by Adam S. Francisco and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2007-03-01 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theologia et Apologia gathers together eighteen essays, written by a wide range of scholars, on Reformation theology and its defense. Orthodox theology, grounded in the Scriptures, calls humanity to believe. This same theology must also be presented and defended to a world that has often not attended to its vital message. Collectively, these essays teach and defend the biblical theology articulated during the Reformation and still today. They address topics including the inspiration, canon, and interpretation of Scripture, Reformation era developments, classic and modern apologetics, and other topics. This helpful book, honoring Rod Rosenbladt, a notable theologian and apologist, is a welcome addition to the library of any thinking Christian.
