Book Theological anthropomorphism is the parent of materialism

Download or read book Theological anthropomorphism is the parent of materialism written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2020-09-21 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materialism is the offspring of theological and dogmatic anthropomorphism. Every nation made a god of its own and, in its great ignorance and superstition, served, and flattered, and tried to propitiate that god. There can be no conscious meeting in Kama-loka, hence no grief. We meet those we loved only in Devachan, that subjective world of perfect bliss, which succeeds the Kama-loka. Kama-loka may be compared to the dressing-room of an actor, in which he divests himself of the costume of the last part he played before rebecoming himself properly. Once we realize that form is merely a temporary perception dependent on our physical senses and the idiosyncrasies of our physical brain, and has no existence on its own, then this illusion that formless cause cannot be causative of forms will soon vanish. Virtuous living alone, if uninformed by esoteric philosophy and unillumined by divine wisdom, cannot lead to friendship and interior communion with God. John Stuart Mill was a case of a wonderful development of the intellectual and terrestrial side of psyche or soul, but Spirit he rejected as all Agnostics do.

Book The spiritual blindness of anthropomorphism is the origin of crass materialism

Download or read book The spiritual blindness of anthropomorphism is the origin of crass materialism written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materialism is the mother of all vices and root of the sin and suffering in the world. It is the negation of pure Spirit, resulting in brutality, hypocrisy, greed, and selfishness. Further proof of the moral blindness of materialism is the unquestioning belief in the necromantic apparitions of the disembodied “spirits” of the dead. Modern Science cannot unveil the mystery of the Spirit of Cosmos to the eyes of man. It can collect, classify, and generalize upon phenomena; but the Occultist declares that the daring explorer, who would probe the inmost secrets of Nature, must transcend the narrow limitations of sense, and elevate his Manas to the realm of noumena and the sphere of primal causes. To run counter to the views of modern Science’s most eminent exponents, is to court a premature discomfiture in the eyes of the Western world. Occultism is at odds with the spiritual blindness of anthropomorphism, idealism and hylo-idealism, positivism and the all-denying modern psychology and, not least, the endless speculations of physicists who are at loggerheads with each other. The ancient belief that the Sun is the God of Spiritual and Terrestrial Light, is nowadays regarded as a superstition only by rank materialism, that denies the triadic hypostasis of Deity–Spirit–Soul, and admits no intelligence outside the mind of man. The ever-concealed Central Spiritual Sun is the all-pervading Spirit of Life animating the playground of numberless Universes, incessantly manifesting and disappearing. Its creative energy, having originated in the Central Point, is then stored in the visible Sun, the Life- and Health-Giver of the physical world; and then, from deep in the bowels of the Earth, it keeps flowing incessantly out of the North Pole towards the Equator. Francis Bacon was among the first to strike the keynote of materialism, by inverting the order of mental evolution, not only by his inductive method renovated from ill-digested Aristotle, but also by the general tenor of his writings. The Light of Spirit is the eternal Sabbath of the Mystic. Fiat Lux, esoterically rendered, means “Let there be the Sons of Light,” i.e., the noumena of all phenomena. The Sons of Light are the Logoi of Life shooting out like seven fiery tongues from the infinite Ocean of Light, whose supernal pole is pure Spirit lost in Non-Being, and whose infernal pole condenses and crystallizes into gross matter.

Book Black versus White Magic the two Opposing Powers

Download or read book Black versus White Magic the two Opposing Powers written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2018-05-16 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a Solitary Ray from the Infinite One is about to become the Many, Duality interposes between It and Its finite differentiations. In the mayavic worlds of being everything is dual. Even the Divine Logos manifests as a double principle of Good and Evil. In terms of human evolution, the seeds of White and Black Magic were sown in Atlantis. Though perfected in materiality, Atlanteans degenerated in spirituality. Black magic, bestiality, selfishness, and self-adoration spelled their demise. Magic is arcane knowledge of the subjective side of Universe and Man, and of the Occult laws and powers that govern their objective manifestations. Arcane science misused, is Sorcery; wisely applied, True Magic. Black Magic is the predictable outcome of selfish motives. For it is the motive, and the motive alone, which makes any exercise of power become black, malignant, or white, beneficent Magic. Practical Theosophy is the modern term for old Magic. Metaphorically speaking, Magic is the conscious reunion of Psyche with Cupid, her beloved groom, upon her return to their celestial abode, or the re-integration of Thought and Spirit. This is the mystery that sanctifies marriage and every earnest hope for a better life. Thus true Magic is the marriage of Nous (Atma-Buddhi) with Manas, a union where Will and Thought, separated at the beginning of time, become One again when self-consciousness reaches the summit of divine power and inner knowledge. When man was first created he couldn’t commit any sin, for he was mindless and therefore irresponsible. The only “vice of his origin” was not his: it has been committed by those who refused to fire him with self-consciousness, with its inherent freedom of thought, and personal responsibility borne by informed decisions. Gnosis is the Western term for the mysteries and destiny of our being, both White and Black. A metaphor for the same enigma is Resurrection or the Raja-Yoga of Eastern Occultists. Amongst Neoplatonists, Raja-Yoga is known as Theurgy. Gnosis will either crown the pure with the sovereignty of their own spirit, or crush the opportunist in the darkness of ignorance and earthy passions. Theosophy is the keynote of our relationship with and in Divine Magic. For Magic is the study and application of divine law. Magic is the ancient Persian word for knowledge and embraces all Chaldeans sciences. It is proficiency in Nature’s hidden powers and laws, or Secret Wisdom, as it was taught in the sanctuaries of the Old World. Magic is the Maha, Magi or Maginsi of Medes and the Egyptians, and the Meghiston of the Zoroastrians. Ancient Magic is Secret Wisdom, the very opposite of Diabolism. It is the theurgy of Iamblichus, the gnosis of Pythagoras, the ecstasy of the Philaletheians, the summit of Eastern Philosophy and Ethics. Magic or Practical Occultism, is the object of Yoga. Mesmerism is another key to our inner nature. It is the Gupta-Vidya of the Eastern Occultists, excellence in universal philosophy, and pinnacle of human knowledge. As Truth is One, so the method for attaining It must be also one. Its disciples help each other in their lessons. The Witches of Thessaly are still amongst us. But as Magic differs from Sorcery, so the Magician differs from the Witch. Hypnotism is Black Magic, irrespective of whether conscious or unconscious. There is little difference between Voodoos and the Vivisectionists of our age. Therefore, Western practitioners of the Black Arts should not have the punishment and reputation without the profits and enjoyments they may get therefrom. Selfish initiates, lured by the glamour of power, retrogress inexorably, and curses always come home to roost. There are “Brothers of the Light” and “Brothers of the Shadow,” there are genuine seers and passive mediums, there are High Planetary Spirits and their illusionary appearances on the psychic screen of mediumistic perceptions. There is White Tantric Magic and its tainted counterpart, there is Neoplatonic Theurgia and its opposite number, Goëtia. Christians beware! The New Testament is all about Unselfishness and Spirituality. The Old Testament is a manual of Selfishness and Psychism. At the apex of its development, our Race will branch off to initiated Adepts, “Sons of Light,” and natural-born mediums, or “Sons of Darkness” — the latter to be exterminated by fire when time expires. We live in dangerous times. There are scores of unconscious crimes committed and many innocent people punished. Terror, tremor and dreadful incidences, as well as beauty, peace, and inspiration are “true presentiments of what lies in the bosom of the future, and much of which is already born.” Practical Theosophy is fraught with dangers for dabblers and neophytes alike. No one should go into occultism or even touch it before he is perfectly acquainted with his own powers. For, it’s all too easy to fall into Black Magic. Even a deed of kindness done with partiality may become evil, by stirring up animosity in the mind of others.

Book Capital punishment is a relic of Jewish barbarity

Download or read book Capital punishment is a relic of Jewish barbarity written by Franz Hartmann and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2021-04-23 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Works of fiction are no fiction, but presentiments of what lies in the bosom of the future. Many will be the unconscious crimes committed, and many will be the victims who will innocently suffer death at the hands of the righteous judges and the too innocent jurymen, both alike ignorant of the fiendish power of suggestion. The body may be slain but not the soul. The consequences of the death penalty for judge and jury, the community at large. and not the least for the criminal, are too grim and too harsh to contemplate. Capital punishment is futile, unnecessary, and fraught with potentially dire societal harms. While the seed of a tree may be destroyed, the spiritual “seed” which produces the soul of a man cannot be destroyed by capital punishment, but will eventually produce such a man again as sure as the seed of a thistle will produce nothing else but a thistle. One’s criminal powers and proclivities cannot be eliminated by killing his body. Having been deprived of one instrument for their manifestation, such powers will manifest themselves in other, still less convenient, and more dangerous ways. Moreover, by deferring the manifestation of an evil cause we pass on to a future generation an evil inheritance, with which we ourselves ought to have contended, and which we ought to have sought to ameliorate. Mortal man is an instrument of immortal spirit. A ray of divine mind dwells in the heart of every man. But the divine mind is veiled in man; his animal brain alone philosophises. The physical man is the musical instrument; the divine the performing artist. The physical body is a transient mask of the spiritual man within, and instrument of action on the objective plane. By the power of an inequitable law the slayer’s knife did stab himself, thus the unjust judge has lost his own defender. Letter to “Lucifer” from a puzzled student. Like an eye-for-an-eye, capital punishment is nothing but a relic of Jewish barbarity. As the juryman, in deciding for a verdict of guilty, becomes an accessory in a fresh murder, so an increasing number of people refuse to repay evil for evil.

Book The Origin of Good and Evil

Download or read book The Origin of Good and Evil written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2017-07-01 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The choice between good and evil can be traced to a particular phase of the evolution of human life on earth, when the Sons of Mahat quickened the mind of animal man, and reason succumbed to the temptation of personal desires. Having informed history, legend and language will now confirm archaic custom and practice. We heard of golden and silver days, and of primeval innocence unstained. The early Lemurian men, of the sweat-born Third Root-Race, were mindless hence sinless. Old Greece had two Apollos: the Hyperborean, a personification of the Sun (whose birthday is December), and the Southern Apollo. Ulysses, an Atlantean hero, must have been a profligate in the opinion of the pastoral Cyclopes. His adventure with the three “one-eyed” giants stands for the gradual passage of humanity from the Lemurian civilization of stone and colossal buildings in the North, to the sensual and physical culture of the Atlanteans in the South, which finally caused the last three subraces of his progenitors to lose their Spiritual Eye. The other allegory, that of Apollo “killing” the Cyclopes to avenge the death of his son Asklepios-Soter (Mercury, esoterically) does not refer to the Lemurian subraces but to the Hyperborean Arimaspian Cyclopes, the last Lemurian subrace endowed with the Wisdom Eye. Apollo, the God of Seers, whose duty it is to punish desecration, “killed” them with shafts representing human passions — fiery and lethal. The Hyperborean Continent, home of the Second Root-Race, extended beyond Boreas, the frozen-hearted god of snow storms and hurricanes. Nocturnal shadows never fell upon it and knew no winter in those early days, for it was the land of Gods and the favourite abode of Apollo and his beloved priests. Greenland was part of the Hyperborean Continent and had an almost tropical climate. It was the blessed land of eternal light and summer. At the close of the Third Root-Race spring reigned over the whole globe which was not subject, like our own, to the vicissitudes of seasons and the abrupt changes of temperature. But when the fatal hour struck, its ever-blooming lands were transformed into an underwater Hades. Lemuria and most of its people perished in the first great throe of evolution and consolidation of the globe. The other submerged landmass was Atlantis, a large group of continents and islands. Asia issued from under the waters after the sinking of Atlantis. Africa surfaced later, and Europe much later. The Hyperborean Continent and its people are symbolised by Latona. The golden apples carried away by Hercules were not in Libya but in Hyperborean Atlantis. The Greeks naturalised all the gods they borrowed from India and made Hellenes of them. Accountable, endowed with moral sense, with sapience of right and wrong endowed. Then the Watcher descended on earth and reigned over the Lemurian men. Under the silent guidance of this Wondrous Being, the pupils of the incarnated Rishis and Devas of the Third Root-Race handed their knowledge from one generation to another. Endowed with divine powers, man felt he was god in his inner self, though still an animal in his physical self. The struggle between the two began from the very day they tasted of the fruit of the “Tree of Wisdom.” Those who conquered their lower principles, by obtaining mastery over the body, joined the “Sons of Light.” Those who fell victims to their lower nature became the slaves of matter. The Golden Age, when the old gods walked the earth and mixed freely with mortals, was brought to an end by the Atlanteans, the womb-born heirs to the Lemurians: they adored themselves, cursed the Sun, worshipped the phallus, and thus became the new gods on earth. And when the old Lemurians ascended toward the Northern Pole, the Hyperborean Heaven of their Divine Progenitors, the new Atlanteans descended toward the Southern Pole, the “pit,” cosmically and terrestrially, and abode of Cosmic Elementals. This is the origin of the dual and triple nature in man, and of the good and evil in our world. Every man is now responsible and therefore accountable for his thoughts and actions. A firm grasp of Esoteric Anthropogenesis will help us better understand our divine ancestry, our privileged position in the universe, the meaning and purpose of life on earth, and our shared destiny. Atlantis was a landmass of an indefinite size. It contained two countries and two “cities” or races, the Northern and the Equatorial: the former was inhabited by a pious, meditative race; the latter by a fighting, warrior race.

Download or read book Papal dispensation for murder and mayhem written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2018-05-29 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theosophy and Jesuitism are two opposite poles: one far above, the other far below even that stagnant marsh. One is the power of Light, the other that of Darkness. Theosophists are slandered and reviled by the Jesuits and their adherents everywhere. Roman Catholicism is but a name. As a Church it is a phantom of the past and a mask. The Jesuits have practised Black Magic in its worst form, far more than any other body of men; and to it they owe in large measure their power and influence. The day may come when their wealth will be violently taken from them, and they themselves mercilessly destroyed amidst the general execrations and applause of all nations and peoples. There is a Nemesis-Karma, though often it allows Evil and Sin to go on successfully for ages.

Book True magic is the Gnosis of Pythagoras higher knowledge of divine law

This book was released on 2023-03-17 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magic, as a science, is the knowledge of the metaphysical principles, and of the way by which the omniscience and omnipotence of the spirit and its control over nature’s forces may be acquired by the individual while still in the body. Magic, as an art, is the application of this knowledge in practice. Occultism is the synthesis of all the discoveries in nature and, chiefly, of the psychic potency within and beyond every physical atom of matter, that has cemented into one cornerstone the foundations of all religions of antiquity.

This book was released on 2023-03-21 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Buddhism is the first religious system in history that sprang up with the determinate object of putting an end to all the male gods and to the degrading idea of a sexual personal deity being the generator of mankind and the “father” of men. Buddhism is a passionate reactionary protest against the phallic worship that led every nation first to the adoration of a personal god, and finally to black magic, and the same object was aimed at by the Nazarene Initiate and prophet.

Book Psychological and conjuring tricks employed by strolling jugglers and fakirs

Download or read book Psychological and conjuring tricks employed by strolling jugglers and fakirs written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2021-04-30 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magical tricks employed by strolling jugglers and fakirs. There does not exist a professional wizard, either of the North, South, or West, who can compete with anything approaching success, with the untutored, naked sons of the East. The basis of magic is the life-principle, a blind force obeying a controlling influence All magical operations consist in freeing one’s self from the coils of the Ancient Serpent. When a man, through the complete subjugation of matter, has attained that state of purification at which the spirit becomes nearly freed from its prison, he has become a creative force on earth, and can command the elements and powers of nature. Purified from the contact with matter, the powerful will and spirit of the fakir condenses the essence of plant life into its germ, and forces it to maturity ahead of its time. For will in motion is force, and force produces matter. The spirit of man is like that of his Creator, omniscient in its essence. Strolling Indian jugglers are neither pure in their modes of living, nor holy. They are generally feared and despised by the natives, for they are practitioners of the black art. Psychological versus conjuring tricks. The only explanation given by the Society for Psychical Research for these phenomena is it does not understand, and is incapable of understanding, what is going on. Fakir is a Mussulman devotee whose whole time is taken up by acts of holiness such as standing for days on one leg, or on the top of his head. But the saintly Hindu Yogi does not take “collections” after the exhibition of his psychic powers. The man Ellmore and Lessing saw was a public juggler, known in India as Jadoowalla or sorcerer. Public jugglers are not sleight of hand conjurers, they are mesmerisers endowed with phenomenal powers. Between hypnotism and Mesmerism lies an impassable chasm. Glamour and fascination are entirely different from hypnotism. Occultism does not admit claims of bodily disintegration, for a living creature, whether man or mosquito, cannot be “disintegrated” and live.

Book Hylo Idealism is a fig leaf for Crass Materialism

Download or read book Hylo Idealism is a fig leaf for Crass Materialism written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2020-11-13 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Privileged man! Evolution-forsaken baboon! Hylo-Idealism asserts that the origin of man has to be sought in the vesiculo-neurine of his hemispherical ganglia, and that even ingratitude is a phenomenon of atavism. Psychical Research is a misnomer for Pseusmatical Research. Modern Idealism is the great ally of Materialism. Their conclusions are so far stretched, that they both converge in their atheism and pessimism. The “scientific” union of Materialism and Idealism takes place in grey matter, affirms Dr. Lewins. New philosophies are the spawn of overworked intellect. They keep sprouting like mushrooms from their mycelium after a rainy morning — interminable, outlandish, multisyllabled, and multicipital. While we tearfully beg Dr. Lewins, in the interests of humanity, to have pity on his poor readers, we shall fight the usurper “Solipsism” in favour of the legitimate King of the Universe — Egoism. Hylo-Idealism is at odds with Hylo-Ideaism. Since Dr. Lewins regards consciousness as a function of the nerve-tissue, he is an uncompromising materialist. If apart from brain there is no Ego, no external world, what then is the brain itself — this solitary object in a void universe? On the one hand, matter is asserted; on the other, matter is denied. The Vedantins symbolise Cosmic Duality by Logos and Mulaprakriti, i.e., Universal Spirit and Noumenon of Matter. The latter is the metaphysical basis of the intelligent operations in Nature. The orthodox concept of God is not, as Dr. Lewins contends, a myth or phantasm of the brain; it is an individualised ray of the all-pervading Logos, the inner light of which is blurred by the fog of lower minds. Modern Idealism is based upon gigantic paradoxes and even contradictions in terms. Venus, the morning star, was created before the sun and the moon — metaphorically, not astronomically. Venus-Aphrodite is one with the Astarte-Astoreth, the moon-goddess of generation presiding at human birth, just as Jehovah is the god of generation, foremost of all. Astoreth, as a planet, is one with Lucifer, the Morning Star. Like modern Spiritualism, Hylo-Idealism is transcendental Materialism. No man can be at once a Materialist and an Idealist, and remain consistent. The new school teaches that brain is the Creator of the Universe and originator of consciousness; that in it alone all our ideas are born, and that, apart from it, nothing has real existence, everything being illusion. By denying the Vedantic idea of non-separateness, the Hylo-Idealists vitiate every one of their arguments. The real “I” which thinks, feels, and acts is a ray of Absolute Consciousness, which is no “consciousness.”

Book Exact Science versus Archaic Philosophy

Download or read book Exact Science versus Archaic Philosophy written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2018-05-28 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sound and Light, hearing and sight, are always associated. But sound is seen before it is heard. It is useless to demand or expect from the learned men of our age that which they are absolutely incapable of doing for us, until the next cycle changes and transforms entirely their inner nature by “improving the texture” of their spiritual minds. Unless there is an opening, however small, for the passage of a ray from a man’s higher self to chase the darkness of purely material conceptions from the seat of his intellect, his task can never be wrought to a successful termination. For the sun needs an eye to manifest its light. And this, we think, is the case with the materialist: he can judge psychic phenomena only by their external aspect, and no modification is, or ever can be, created in him, so as to open his insight to their spiritual aspect.

Book The Monads of Leibniz are the Jivas of Occultism a Unity of mathematical points in boundless Space

Download or read book The Monads of Leibniz are the Jivas of Occultism a Unity of mathematical points in boundless Space written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2022-08-05 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Esoteric Science strives to enlarge the domain of physical science by trespassing on the forbidden grounds of metaphysics, so distasteful to some materialists. Though modern scientists, learned as they may be, all their wonderful discoveries would go for nothing, and they themselves remain for ever headless bodies, unless they lift the veil of matter and strain their eyes to see beyond. The extent, depth, breadth, and length of the mysteries of Nature are to be found only in Eastern Esoteric Sciences. So vast and so profound are these that hardly a few, a very few of the highest Initiates are capable of assimilating that which is good, pure, and holy, and penetrate into the arcana behind the veil. Without throwing any discredit upon time-honoured beliefs, we draw a line between blind faith, evolved by theologies, and the knowledge compiled and validated by generations of eastern adepts and seers; in short, between faith and true philosophy, i.e., the Wisdom of Love not the “love of wisdom” as the term is commonly interpreted. The ten precious Cosmic Seeds, brought to Magna Graecia from old India by the great Ionian Sage, eclipsed all those Theogonies and angelologies that ever emanated from the theological brain. The ten mathematical points inscribed within the Pythagorean Triangle transcend the limits of the lower mind and elevate the apperceptions of the spiritual thinker into the realm of primal causes. Along with the plane Cube and Circle, the Abstract Triangle is the cornerstone of cosmic philosophy and symbol of the manifested universe. The equilateral Triangle is the trinity of the first differentiated Substance, or the consubstantiality of Spirit-Matter-Universe, the Son, who unfolds from the Unity of Logos. Aristotle was not an initiate. He misrepresented Plato, mocked Pythagoras, and by omitting the Point and the Circle, and by ignoring the Apex, he demeaned the application of geometry to Cosmic and Divine Theogony. Thus the pupil of Plato succeeded in dwarfing the Majesty of the Ideal Triangle to a simple triad: line, surface, body. His modern heirs, who play at Idealism, have interpreted these geometrical figures as space, force, matter. Those like Aristotle and others, who did not adhere the mathematical correctness of Plato’s deductive reasonings, and did not proceed top-down, from universals down to particulars, begun symbolizing their philosophies and religions by sexual emblems! As an emblem applicable to the objective idea, the Triangle became a solid. When repeated in stone on the four cardinal points, it assumed the shape of the Pyramid — symbol of the phenomenal merging into the Noumenal Universe of Thought — at the Apex of the four triangles. The Apex itself is lost in the Unseen Universe from whence started the first race of the spiritual prototypes of man. The protyle, or undifferentiated cosmic matter, of our most eminent chemists and physicists is the basic line of the Pythagorean Triangle, the grandest conception imaginable, for it symbolizes both the Ideal and the Visible Universes. In the realm of the Esoteric Sciences the unit divided endlessly, instead of losing its unity, approaches with every division the planes of the only eternal Reality, which the Seer can follow and behold it in all its pregenetic glory. The Monads in the present dissertation are distinct atomic Souls, before they descend into terrestrial form. Their descent into concrete matter marks the medial point of their own individual pilgrimage. Here, losing in the mineral kingdom their individuality, they begin ascending through the seven states of terrestrial evolution to that point where a correspondence between the human and divine consciousness is firmly established. At present, however, we are not concerned with their terrestrial trials and tribulations, but with their life and behaviour in Space, on planes wherein the eye of the most intuitional chemist and physicist cannot reach them. Leibniz was not an Initiate, not even a mystic, only a very intuitional philosopher. Yet no psycho-physicist ever came nearer than he has to the mysteries of cosmic evolution. Let not the word “Psychology” cause the reader to carry his thought by an association of ideas to modern “Psychologists,” so-called, whose idealism is another name for uncompromising Materialism, and whose pretended Monism is no better than a mask to conceal the void of final annihilation — even of consciousness. An idea has no subsistence by itself, but gives figure and form unto shapeless matter, and becomes the cause of the manifestation. Once the idea of protyle is accepted, Chemistry will have virtually ceased to live: it will reappear in its reincarnation as New Alchemy, or Metachemistry. For what are the manifested Mother, the Father-Son-Husband,” and the Son — the three First-born — but Hydrogen, Oxygen, and that which, in its terrestrial manifestation, is called Nitrogen? The Monads of Leibniz may, from one point of view be called force; from another, matter. To Occult Science, force and matter are two sides of the same Substance. These Monads, every one of which is a living mirror of the universe, each Monad reflecting each other, are hidden in a veil of thick darkness, forming mirrors of the atoms of the world, and casting reflections from its own face on every atom. Where, then, is the Ultimate Element? As we advance, it recedes like the tantalizing mirage lakes and groves seen by the tired and thirsty traveller in the desert. The very idea of an element, as something absolutely primary and ultimate, seems to be growing less and less distinct. Occult Science teaches that “Mother” lies stretched in infinity, during Pralaya, as the Great Deep, the “dry Waters of Space,” and becomes wet only after the separation and the moving over its face of Narayana, the Spirit which is an Invisible Flame that never burns, but which sets on fire all that it touches, and gives it life and generation. Hydrogen and oxygen (which instil the fire of life into the Mother) is Spirit, the noumenon of that which becomes in its grossest form oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen on earth — nitrogen being of no divine origin, but merely an earth-born cement to unite other gases and fluids, and serve as a sponge to carry in itself the breath of Life — pure air. The is no such thing in Nature as inorganic (inanimate) substances. Stones, minerals, rocks, and even chemical “atoms” are simply organic units in profound lethargy. Their coma comes to an end when their inertia becomes activity. The divisions made by Leibniz, however incomplete and faulty from the standpoint of Occultism, show a spirit of metaphysical intuition to which no man of science, not Descartes, not even Kant, has ever reached. With him there always existed an infinite gradation of thought. Only a small portion of the contents of our thoughts rises into the clearness of apperception, “into the light of perfect consciousness.” From the shock of Leibniz’ and Spinoza’s systems (as opposed to the Cartesian system) emerge the truths of the Archaic doctrine. Both opposed the metaphysics of Descartes: his idea of the contrast of two substances — extension and thought — radically differing from each other and mutually irreducible, was too arbitrary and too unphilosophical for them. What Leibniz calls Monads, and Eastern philosophy Jivas, is the Unity of units, immaterial and infinite. They are with us, as with Leibniz, “the expression of the universe,” and every physical point is but the phenomenal expression of the noumenal, metaphysical point. Leibniz’s distinction between perception and apperception is the philosophical, though dim expression, of the Esoteric teachings. Every Monad differs from each other qualitatively, and every one is a peculiar world to itself. But this is not so with atoms: they are absolutely alike quantitatively and qualitatively, and possess no individuality of their own. To Leibniz atoms and elements are centres of force, or rather “spiritual beings whose very nature is to act.” The molecules of materialistic philosophy are extended and divisible, while Monads are mere mathematical points and indivisible. At this point, the Monads of Leibniz closely resemble the Elementals of mystic philosophy. Every Monad or Elemental is a speaking mirror. Esoteric philosophy, teaching an objective Idealism, draws a practical distinction between collective illusion, from the purely metaphysical standpoint, and the objective relations in it between various conscious Egos so long as this illusion lasts. The adept, therefore, may read the future in an Elemental Monad, but he has to draw for this object a great number of them, as each Monad represents only a portion of the Kingdom it belongs to.

There is neither Saint nor Sorcerer, neither Prophet nor Soothsayer for him. There are only Adepts, or proficients in the production of feats of a phenomenal character, to be judged by their words and deeds. It is only theological bigotry and intolerance that could so maliciously and arbitrarily separate two harmonious parts, psychic and physical phenomena, into two distinct manifestations of Divine and Satanic Magic, or “godly” and “ungodly” works. The very name Apocrypha forbids critics to trust them for information. The Occultists, however, claim that, one-sided and prejudiced as they may be, the Apocryphal Gospels contain far more historically true events and facts than does the New Testament, the Acts included. The former are crude tradition; the latter (the official Gospels), an elaborately made up legend. Simon Magus was a Kabbalist and a Mystic who, like so many other reformers, endeavoured to found a new Religion based on the teachings of the Secret Doctrine, yet without divulging more than necessary of its mysteries. He rejected the individuality of his personal spirit, and recognized the Divine Ray which dwells in his Higher Ego as a reflection of the Universal Spirit. By Simon Magus we must understand the Apostle Paul, whose Epistles were secretly, as well as openly, calumniated and opposed by Peter. The Church extols unstintingly his wonderful magic feats. On the other hand, Scepticism, represented by scholars and learned critics, tries to make away with him altogether. Thus, after denying the very existence of Simon, they have finally thought fit to merge his individuality entirely in that of Paul. The virus of insatiable power and ambition, culminating finally in the dogma of infallibility and tyrannical authority of the Churches, are the curse of humanity and the great extinguishers of Light and Truth. The aim of the Tannaïm, ancient Israeli Initiates, who were Kabbalists of the same secret school as John of the Apocalypse, was to conceal the real meaning of the names in the Mosaic Books. Be that as it may, no Christian could rival Simon’s thaumaturgic deeds. Simon could not submit to the leadership or authority of any of the Apostles, least of all to that of either Peter or John, the fanatical author of the Apocalypse.
