Recover your life.'" With the help of Dallas Willard who personally mentored him, Bill Gaultiere became Jesus' apprentice and learned how to live and minister to others in God's peace and power. With real life stories, fresh Biblical insights, and practical steps he invites you to enjoy "Your Best Life in Jesus' Easy Yoke." When Dallas saw the first version of this book he remarked, "This is ground- breaking! Pastors and others will come under this teaching and develop aspects of it in their own ministry." "Bill does a fantastic job of helping people understand how to live relaxed, yet empowered lives in the Father's world." Bobby Schuller, Pastor of Hour of Power "Eventually our well runs dry. Perhaps we dug into the arid ground of perfectionism, anxiety, overwork, or self-promotion. Here's a map to show us where to dig deeply into the well-spring of God's sustaining grace. I am so grateful for Bill Gaultiere, who lived Easy Yoke before he wrote it. He's helped count- less harried leaders - like me! - drink from the life-giving waters of Jesus." Larry Winger, CEO of Provision Ministries "I took my pastoral staff and elders through Easy Yoke." Steve Phillips, Lead Pastor of The Journey Church

Download or read book The Yoke of Jesus written by Rick Mills and published by . This book was released on 1915-03-13 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Really? An easy yoke? Have you seen my life lately? And for that matter, the disciples wore His yoke, and their lives did not seem all that "easy." "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30, NIV) So what kind of yoke was Jesus referring to? And what kind of relationship requires a yoke? It was not an idle suggestion when Jesus said to His disciples, "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." (Matthew 10:16, NIV) This book offers you insight based on Scripture and biblical counseling on how to understand your past wounds and God's provision, and many of the difficulties with people you may encounter. In addition, this book provides wisdom on how you can help others without sacrificing your own physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. You will learn more about how to be as shrewd as people, and how to speak the truth in love without compromising your innocence. Take a risk and read what a veterinarian with a masters degree in social work has learned from animals and people about the yoke of Jesus and how to help others. We are born into a difficult world of deceiving lies, and redeemed into Jesus' body of renewing love.

Book Rhythms of Grace

  • Author : Kerri Weems
  • Publisher : Zondervan

Download or read book Rhythms of Grace written by Kerri Weems and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2014-10-07 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is not a sprint; it’s a marathon. These well-known words of wisdom remind us to pace ourselves in the journey of life so we reach the finish line with no regrets. Pacing yourself is not as easy as it sounds. Life tends to take on a pace of its own which when left unchecked, will drive us toward burnout and fatigue. We can easily become driven by care, worry, and ambition rather than led by the Holy Spirit. We may tend to think of burnout as a modern problem, but we can see that people in Jesus’ day felt their own kind of spiritual and emotional fatigue. Why else would Jesus have said these comforting words? Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly (Matt. 11:28-30; The Message). Even though he spoke these words more than two millennia ago, Jesus’ call to rest and peace seem tailor-made to fit this generation. Author Kerri Weems had let the pace and rhythm of her life get out of control. At first the consequences were only physical, but they quickly impacted her spiritual life. Since then, God has been teaching her to walk in time with him; he is teaching her to be led rather than driven. In this book, she opens up her life and shares this journey with the reader. God’s best for each of us is that we go the full distance of our race, and not just crawl exhausted across the finish line. God wants us to enjoy the race and cross the line with our heads held high, a smile on our faces, and our arms lifted in a double fist-punch! Getting to that moment is all about learning the rhythms of grace and pacing ourselves for the long run.

Book excerpt: Christians know that God loves them, but can easily feel that he is perpetually disappointed and frustrated, maybe even close to giving up on them. As a result, they focus a lot—and rightly so—on what Jesus has done to appease God’s wrath for sin. But how does Jesus Christ actually feel about his people amid all their sins and failures? This book draws us to Matthew 11, where Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart,” longing for his people to find rest in him. The gospel flows from God’s deepest heart for his people, a heart of tender love for the sinful and suffering. These chapters take readers into the depths of Christ’s very heart for sinners, diving deep into Bible passages that speak of who Christ is and encouraging readers with the affections of Christ for his people. His longing heart for sinners comforts and sustains readers in their up-and-down lives.

Book Easton s Bible Dictionary

  • Author : M. G. Easton
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2017-08-19
  • ISBN : 9781974694648
  • Pages : 526 pages

Download or read book Easton s Bible Dictionary written by M. G. Easton and published by . This book was released on 2017-08-19 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Easton's Bible Dictionary is a classic book of definitions which serves to explain and clarify the meaning of the names, places, and words found in the Bible. Many Christians and scholars who read the Bible often remain unawares of the meanings or significance of the Holy Book's vocabulary. Such words are often derived from Ancient Hebrew or other old scripts, which makes it even more difficult for readers who only speak English to understand. Location names, in the context of ancient geography, are likewise hard to scrutinize - yet Easton's Dictionary not only explains what these places are, but their size and overall impact across the entire Bible. First published in 1893, this dictionary uses the authoritative King James Bible as its source. As well as containing definitions and accounts of the many terms found throughout the Old and New Testaments, Easton's Bible Dictionary points out the significance of certain things and exactly where mentions of such phenomena appear in the Bible. The presence and significance of iron, for example, is noted in the Books of Genesis, Chronicles, Ezekiel, Deuteronomy, Isaiah, Job, Joshua, Kings and in the Psalms. Individuals in the Bible are also given biographical definitions. Through Easton's referencing of the names, we can discover the exact Bible passages where such figures are mentioned. Likewise we hear of terms relevant to the life of the ancient peoples; the term 'Levy' for instance is shown to equate to a form of involuntary recruitment which kings ordered. Words in frequent use today, such as 'Schism', are also shown to originate from the Bible. Other words we use today - such as 'Teeth', are shown to have been informal terms: 'cleanness of teeth' in Amos 4:6 denotes an outbreak of famine, for example. Many of the parables and tales of the Bible are retold in abbreviated form in Easton's Bible Dictionary. These retold anecdotes reference other relevant passages, further evidencing how the various portions of the Bible are interconnected and related to one another. Such a style also gives this unconventional dictionary a flowing quality, making it easier for the reader to enjoy large tracts of this text without pause. The ancient world of the Biblical canon is given life and color by Easton's descriptions. Primarily however, Easton's masterwork is designed for reference. Yet it not only defines the individual entries, but places these entries in their proper context throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Owing to this wealth of information, the reader may perceive that Easton's Dictionary is not merely a book of definitions, but an authoritative and significant work of classic Christian literature.

Book Walking Together on the Jesus Road

Download or read book Walking Together on the Jesus Road written by Evelyn Hibbert and published by William Carey Publishing. This book was released on 2018-08-17 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Make discipling culturally relevant. Christians who serve Jesus among people from a different culture than their own often struggle to find a good way to disciple people. Walking Together on the Jesus Road addresses this need by guiding readers through three essential practices for making disciples across cultures: listening to disciples to get to know them and their context, focusing on relationships with Christ, fellow disciples, and others, and enabling disciples to live out their faith in culturally relevant ways. These practices are the foundation for the long-term, intentional process of helping disciples from other cultures become more like Jesus. The book also engages with practical challenges, such as enabling disciples to find and belong to a nurturing community of faith, as well as contextualizing the way we teach the Bible.

Download or read book The Entitlement Cure written by John Townsend and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2015-10-06 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you have anyone in your life who can't seem to stick with a project, meet a deadline, or even clean up after themselves? All of us feel we deserve special treatment sometimes. Some people live with this entitled attitude, such as: Professionals who wander from job to job looking for a boss who will see them as amazing as they consider themselves to be--whether they're productive or not Young adults who refuse to grow up and so go nowhere Spouses or dates who believe, "I'm special, and I deserve more than you're giving me" Leaders who expect special treatment because of their position, not because of their character If you have a difficult relationship with an entitled person, or if you have discovered entitlement in yourself, understand this: It doesn't have to stay this way. There is a cure. It's called the Hard Way and it works. In The Entitlement Cure, Dr. John Townsend explains that the Hard Way is a habit that focuses on doing whatever is needed even if it is difficult, uncomfortable, takes longer, and requires more energy. Dr. Townsend offers daily steps, such as risk-taking, to help you or those you love choose the Hard Way. Ultimately, entitlement fails us. We don't develop the character abilities and relationships necessary to reach success and become the people God intended us to be. By contrast, Hard Way people have better relationships, reach their goals, have a clear job direction, enjoy rich spiritual growth, and are equipped to face and solve challenges. As Dr. Townsend writes, "Stand against entitlement in every form in which it manifests itself. Resolve your own tendencies toward the disease. Be a loving and firm force for helping those in its trap to find life and hope. And you will make the world a better place." Discover why the Hard Way is the best way in this practical guide to true success.

Book The Chosen Yoke

  • Author : Rod L. Landreth
  • Publisher : Xulon Press
  • Release : 2008-10
  • ISBN : 1606479679
  • Pages : 130 pages

Download or read book The Chosen Yoke written by Rod L. Landreth and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-10 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Living the Christian life is a constant battle between good and evil. This book discusses these conflicts in terms of the yoke each of us carries through life. The yoke presented to us by Satan holds a beauty of sorts, which causes our hearts and minds to glance in different directions--directions which can send us into a spin of disaster for ourselves and those around us. On the other hand, Jesus Christ has a yoke perfectly fitted for us. It is a yoke designed to withstand the tribulations and leads us into righteousness according to the design in which God has divinely orchestrated. One yoke brings with its pleasures, the curse of death. When we plow with it, all we leave behind is the stench of dying relationships and our own decay. The yoke of Christ brings pleasure to the soul and a call to servant-hood. It enables us to plow ground that will grow and produce good fruit, blessings of peaceable relations with others and God. Rod Landreth has been a born again Christian since 1975. Since that time, he has had the opportunity to witness the rise and the fall of many, including himself. These rises and falls came by choices made from what appeared to be sweet intentions from the "evil one," but always to no avail--bringing much bitterness to the soul. Ordained in 1997, he is currently the pastor of Church of the Living Word, in West Point, CA. His heart is set on revealing how quick and easy it is for even the most seasoned Christians to be caught within the guile of Satan, calling evil good and good evil.
