Book excerpt: Worship and Creative Arts have such a broad scope of influence. More goes in to a Sunday morning worship service than the average person realizes. Every aspect of that service and every volunteer on the stage has one thing in common. They are set up and led by a leader, a worship leader. Title or not, the office of worship leader has a great sphere of influence and can get overwhelming. This book strategically touches on many areas within Worship and Creative Arts. Dr. Brandi Lowery began leading worship at the age of sixteen and has been in full time ministry ever since. She received her undergraduate degree from Southeastern University and has since completed her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Theology. Dr. Lowery is founder of Platinum Ministries and Platinum Worship, who have had the honor of taking the stage with some of the biggest names in Christian and Gospel music. She is currently still serving as Creative Arts Pastor and does a great deal of mentoring and consulting for church worship departments. This book was authored to aid those who find themselves wanting to know more about this ministry. She is the mother of three beautiful children, and comes from a legacy of ministers. Her aim is that despite church size or resources, that with direction, every church can have a successful and impactful worship department if they know how to use the resources they already have.

Download or read book Whole Life Worship written by Sam Hargreaves and published by Inter-Varsity Press. This book was released on 2017-03-28 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a continuation of the LICC series begun by Neil Hudson's Imagine Church Whole-Life Worship will demonstrate that the contemporary Western Church has reached a point where our "gathered" worship is separated from our "scattered" lives outside of church. This is detrimental to the congregation's spiritual development and their effectiveness on their "frontlines". Church worship should be inspired and informed by our everyday experiences. It should empower and send the congregation out to continue worshipping. The book will provide patterns and resources to better connect gathered worship with the lives of the congregation beyond church meetings. The book will unpack a biblical grounding for both gathered and scattered worship. It will then identify patterns within our gathered services which help us re-make these connections. It will provide practical resources such as songs, prayers and activities which can help churches connect Sunday to the rest of the week. It will draw examples and stories from other church streams and traditions, to demonstrate how different kinds of Christian spirituality engage worshipfully with everyday life. In the second half of the book is a practical resource looking specifically at different aspects of a gathered service, and how each one can have an "outward" dimension.

It is the theme of Scripture, the theme of eternity, and the theme of redemptive history— to worship the true and living and glorious God is the purpose of all creation. So why do we treat it as only what is sung or played in church on Sunday morning? Pastor John MacArthur leads you through Scripture texts about true worship. You will learn that worship is any essential expression of service rendered unto God by a soul that loves and extols Him for who He is. Worship is the nonstop role of believers, not merely part of a church service. So get ready to alter your priorities, aiming higher than entertaining worshipers on Sunday mornings. Worship shows that your ultimate priority must always be to worship the true and living God, with a radically different type of living.

  • Publisher : Abingdon Press
  • Release : 2020-08-04
  • ISBN : 1791007368

Download or read book Liturgies from Below written by Claudio Carvalhaes and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2020-08-04 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It’s been said that prayer is the vocabulary of faith. This book offers a wealth of resources from forgotten places to help us create a new vocabulary for worship and prayer, one that is located amidst the poor and the major issues of violence and destruction around the world today. It is a collection of prayers, songs, rituals, rites of healing, Eucharistic and baptismal prayers, meditations and art from four continents: Asia-Pacific Islands, Africa, Americas, and Europe. Liturgies from Below is the culmination of a project organized by the Council for World Mission (CWM) during 2018-2019. Approximately 100 people from four continents worked with CWM, collaborating to create indigenous prayers and liturgies expressing their own contexts, for sharing with their communities and the rest of the world. The project was called “Re-Imagining Worship as Acts of Defiance and Alternatives in the Context of Empire”. The author and others spent weeks living in each of four communities for several weeks/months, getting to know the people, and then facilitating the people’s own creation of prayers and liturgies. The author, other scholars, pastors, artists, activists and students all came from radically different ethnicities, races, sexualities, churches and Christian theologies. The people in each location were poor, living in very challenging communities, living in oppressive and seemingly hopeless situations. After some time, they wrote prayers and stories of their experience trying to live the Christian faith in utterly abandoned places. What we have here is an immensely rich and varied collection of liturgical sources from various communities dealing with issues of violence, immigration/refugees, drugs, land grabbing, war on the poor, attack on women, militarization, climate change, and so on.
