This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The World Agricultural Situation, 1960 The supply of farm products should exceed the high 1958-59 level. Sharp increases in stocks partly offset the decrease in wheat production, may have compensated for the drop in sugar production, and raised feed grain supplies to a new record high. Coffee stocks and supplies are also larger than ever before. Stocks of cotton, on the other hand, showed little change, remaining well below the August 1, 1956, peak. The expected increase in production, however, will bring supplies to record levels. Wool stocks, which increased considerably during 1958, decreased to more nearly normal levels in exporting countries during 1959 as trade expanded. This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The World Agricultural Situation, 1963 Some progress toward a better balance between world agricultural production and effective demand was made in 1962, and further progress is expected in 1963. World agricultural output for crop year 1962 - 63 is estimated at about 3 percent above that of 1961-62. The high level of agricultural trade reached in 1961 was continued in 1962. World export prices of primary food products in 1962 generally rose slightly after several years of steady decline. Decreases occurred among some nonfood farm products, and for some edible oils. The 1 percent increase in per capita production of farm products in 1962 - 63 is not expected to lower prices, because of gains in consumer income. This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The 1962 World Agricultural Situation: January 3, 1962 Canada experienced a serious drought in the Prairie Provinces in the summer of 1961 which caused overall agricultural output to decline 20 percent below the average for the 10-year period of 1950-59. Grains and oilseeds showed major declines in output, while livestock products and most other commodities showed increases above the level of 1960. Exports of wheat to regular customers and the million bushels to Communist China from January 1 to June 30, 1961, contributed to the high level of wheat exports during the cr0p year 1960-61. Supplies of wheat are expected to be adequate to allow continued exports of wheat for 1961-62 at high levels, though feed grain exports may decline as much as 50 percent, and a substantial amount of oats may be imported. United States farm output in 1961 is running near the record high level of last year. A decrease in cr0p production is expected to be largely offset by a larger livestock and livestock product production. The 1961 output of feed grains and wheat is down about a tenth from 1960. Part of this decline was offset by larger crops of soybeans, sugar, fall potatoes, and tobacco. Cotton production is slightly larger than last year. Production of beef, poultry, and milk is up, but pork is down from 1960. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Agricultural Situation, Vol. 43: December 1959 Farm prices and incomes in 1960 are likely to show much the same trends as this year. Farm income is expected to decline, probably about half as much as in 1959. Prices for farm products are likely to slip further, but sharp declines, such as those for hogs and eggs in 1959, are not expected. Supplies of farm products will re main heavy in 1960 with further ao cumulation of already excessive stocks of wheat and feed grains. Heavy sup plies will be partly offset by expected increases in exports, rising economic activity, and improved retail demand for food. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Agricultural Situation, Vol. 44: December 1960 You can look for modest gains in livestock production and slaughter in 1961. A sizable increase in cattle and calf slaughter seems assured although slaughter _will probably not be large enough to halt the uptrend in numbers. Hog production is turning upward and the total number slaughtered next year will probably be as large or larger than this year. Sheep and lamb slaughter next year will probably be close to this year. Total red meat production will set a new high next year. The outlook is for meat production to increase enough during 1961 to supply each consumer with about 4 pounds more meat than during 1960. The increase will be mostly in beef. Pork supplies will be less plentiful during the first half of next year than a year earlier. In the second half of 1961 pork output will push above a year earlier if the 1961 spring pig crop is expanded as now seems likely. Veal (including calf) supplies per person will be up moder ately, but less lamb and mutton is likely. Hence, red meat consumption per person will likely total about 165 pounds next year, second only to pounds consumed in 1956. Barring unfavorable pasture feed conditions, cattle numbers are expected to continue upward next year. In the preceding cattle cycle, numbers in creased for 7 years, rising 26 percent during the upswing. Numbers have been increasing for 3 years in the cur rent cycle and will have increased by about 12 percent by next January. The recent increase in cow and calf slaughter indicates the buildup is eas ing off. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Per capita decline in the world supply of agricultural products from to are reductions in wheat and milk output. Sugar and rice production, however, has increased. Production of edible oilseeds, other fats and oils, and feedgrains' has remained at high levels. Meat and egg output has continued upward. Tobacco production has increased significantly. Cotton production has climbed to a record high, but other fiber crops generally have declined slightly. World exports of farm products rose slightly in 1962, while U. S. Exports maintained their previous level of slightly more than $5 billion. Some rise is expected in exports of both the United States and the rest of the world for calendar year 1963. A further rise is expected in U. S. And Canadian farm exports to new highs during the year ending June 30, 1964. Fiscal year 1963 U. S, farm exports were valued at million compared with million the previous year. During the latter part of 1962 and in 1963, a rise in world prices of farm products brought them more closely in line with prices of lnonfarm products than in recent years. A substantial rise in world prices of primary food products occurred in 1963. Rises were significant for sugar, corn, and some livestock products, especially butter. There was a smaller rise in prices of many food products and of nonfood farm products generally. Wool and sisal prices rose sharply. Some other prices, such as those for tobacco and cotton, rose slightly, while the price of natural rubber declined sharply. Book Foreign Agriculture Circular

Download or read book Foreign Agriculture Circular written by U. S. Foreign Agricultural Service and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-05-03 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Foreign Agriculture Circular: Cotton; February 3, 1960 The world cotton situation in l959-60-described in one word-is favorable. Nearly all phases of world supply and demand have improved considerably over last season, and as the 1959-60 season reaches the half-way mark, the prospects are for continuation of this favorable situation in coming months. World consumption continues-to increase, and is expected to reach a record high of around million bales this season, 11 percent above the 1954-58 average. This con sumption will exceed the record high world production of million bales and reduce world stocks for the fourth consecutive season. Trade has picked up in response to the stronger demand abroad resulting from.the overall rise in consumption and the replenishment of cotton and textile stocks in some countries. World exports in 1959-60 could exceed million bales, 18 percent above 1958-59 and the largest since 1956-57. Foreign exportable supplies are smaller this season, reflecting heavy 1958-59 exports and the first drop in foreign production since World War II. U. S. Production is up million bales from the low 1958 level. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
