Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Savanna will take you along a ride through cultural familiarities, all the while passing by liminal experiences that illustrate the importance of being receptive and open-minded in an ever-shrinking world. Her exclusive records cover a range of subjects from love to death, food to music, which harmoniously form this book. The book is presented in a very non-linear progressive manner, opening and closing chapters with a new theme and lesson in mind. Each chapter has its own unique story and purpose, but they all aim together toward the same goal the acquisition and distribution of wisdom. Meanwhile, each story has an opener in the form of an African proverb or a Kanga saying, meant to help one connect them to the stories told. After experiencing joyous love and heartaches, insecurities and swelling pride, abuses and tender reinforcements, Savanna comes out of the callous jungle of life on top, roaring her victorious cries over the plains of Africa.

Book EVEN FLOWERS KNOW THAT WATER IS USELESS WITHOUT ROOTS

Download or read book EVEN FLOWERS KNOW THAT WATER IS USELESS WITHOUT ROOTS written by Gloria D. Gonsalves and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2023-06-25 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I sat on a mat beneath an imagined mango tree. There, the happiness and sorrows of my heart found a place as stories and poetry on paper. I joined the birds flying above the tree, singing Kiswahili songs that made me ululate. The tree danced from melodies of the heart, gifting ample juicy fruits to sate my longings. Meanwhile, children skipped their favourite kamba game, and others raced on a wooden tricycle to catch a grasshopper. Our neighbour wafted soil scent as she wetted the mud floor before sweeping it. My body adorned in a pair of kanga, the breeze knew well of the nostalgia I carry. It was not a dream. I was homesick, and only writing would remedy my longings. Moving away from the land you were born in alters you into a migrant and a wanderer, seeking what is not fully known until experienced and missed. This collection brings together various memories, experiences, and observations of my homeland, Tanzania. The subjects range from natural resources, love, food, and culture to self-pride. You will learn about the wealth and diversity of Tanzania’s people, culture, and natural resources. This book is an ode to Tanzania and a subtle memoir by its descendant. ***** Gloria writes about Africa in all its brilliance and beauty with a pure vision and a complete lack of cliche. Her formidable control of language brings memories rushing out of the body - with faint smells and tiny sounds - with all the subtleness of real life. Derek Workman, Editor In Chief, The Kalahari Review This book of poems will surely inspire the reader to think about who they are and where they come from, and be proud of their heritage. Even to those for whom poetry is not something they usually indulge in, these writings are meaningful and worth a look. Lee Ann, FirstEditing.com

But with this power comes immense responsibility, for in the Mirror Realm lurks an evil that has infected the human race for centuries: demons. It is up to her and her three huntress sisters—with the help of one handsome and overbearing protector—to hunt and banish this evil one demon at a time, thereby keeping the chaos in check. But when an ancient god pays Alice a visit that turns deadly, it is clear the Mirror Realm is more than it seems, and she soon finds herself in a race against time to save the life—and soul—of the one man the gods are determined to never let her have. Download or read book Wisdom s Daughters written by Cathy Pagano and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2013 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wisdom is Women’s Gift to the World. In the many cultural stories that speak about the changing of the ages, it is always Feminine Spirit which brings about the transition to new life, for Feminine Spirit knows the rhythms of life, death, and rebirth and is the “opener of the way.” In times of cultural transformation, it is also our right-brain, feminine consciousness that is our best guide, for it opens us to the creative imagination, the realm of possibility. The return of the Goddess awakens the transformative energy that births the changing of the ages. In the western story of worldwide spiritual transformation, there is a powerful image of Cosmic Woman, an image of the archetypal Feminine Spirit who transforms and gives birth to this new age. And her archetypal image gives us instructions for opening to and incarnating wisdom. This image of the awakening Feminine Spirit is an image of the Conscious Woman: a woman, clothed with the sun, standing on the moon, crowned with stars, who is in labor, giving birth to a savior. In earlier times and different traditions, this archetypal image was understood as Lady Wisdom. Today I feel this Goddess image of conscious woman can be incarnated by women everywhere. This woman clothed with the sun is Lady Wisdom, who calls all women to become her daughters. “I love Cathy’s insights into fairy tales, mythology, dreams, astrological energies, and archetypes. She makes sense of how our lives are impacted by these complex yet very beautiful elements, making them accessible and keeping them profound. Her wisdom can only enhance anyone lucky enough to have crossed her path.” —Alix Toland, Artist & Creator of Color-Scope: An Astrological Mandala

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complete title of one of the most famous works ever written, Isaac Newton's Principia, was actually Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica, or "The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy". Sadly, many contemporary philosophers would be hard-pressed to say just what natural philosophy (or philosophy of nature) is all about. Without question, the philosophy of nature has received relatively less attention than ethics and metaphysics for some time. In "Nature, the Soul, and God," Jean W. Rioux has brought together a number of important readings in natural philosophy, from the Pre-Socratic philosophers and Aristotle to the 19th-century entomologist Jean-Henri Fabre. Collectively, they present three ways in which one might conceive of the natural world in a pre-scientific reflection upon the way things are: either the classical materialism of Empedocles, Democritus, and Epicurus, the formalism of Plato, or the hylomorphic view espoused and defended by Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas. In the sections following the consideration of nature are selections from these representative views concerning the immortality of the soul and the existence of God. Through the medium of philosophers both ancient and modern, Rioux makes the point that one's philosophical account of the natural world will have an impact upon how one regards human nature, as well as divinity itself. It all begins with nature.
