Book Roberto s New Vegan Cooking

Download or read book Roberto s New Vegan Cooking written by Roberto Martin and published by Da Capo Lifelong Books. This book was released on 2015-04-28 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you suffer through the same old salads because you want to eat more veggies? Are you trying to use less processed junk when you cook but find yourself thinking, "I don't have time for that"? If you're hungry for good food and a good time in the kitchen, chef Roberto Martin has the answers—and he's here to demonstrate that cooking delicious meals with whole foods doesn't have to take a whole day. When he was personal chef to Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Roberto created basic meals that turned their favorite meaty dishes into tasty vegan feasts. Roberto's cooking continues to evolve, using fewer faux meats and more healthful, plant-based ingredients. Not only does he make seriously amazing food for others, he has a hungry family at home—so whether he's whipping up a Sunday brunch, after-school snacks, or a cozy dinner for two, the food's got to be easy, satisfying, and delicious. Based on both Roberto's Mexican-American family favorites (check out the recipes for albondigas soup and jackfruit tacos) and his classical French culinary training (cassoulet? Every day), these new recipes use simple basics (think beans, beets, and avocado) while also introducing less common but easy-to-use ingredients (celeriac? It has an amazing meaty texture). The result? Finger-licking dishes that'll please everyone from your fussy kid to your need-to-impress in-laws. With tips for outfitting your kitchen and techniques to save you time, as well as a chapter devoted to homemade staples that will truly make your cooking life easier and tastier, you'll be able to make fresh, healthy meals in a snap—big flavors, no fussin'.

Book The Wild Vegetarian Cookbook

Download or read book The Wild Vegetarian Cookbook written by Steve Brill and published by ReadHowYouWant.com. This book was released on 2011-07-13 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brill follows his Identifying and Harvesting Edible and Medicinal Plants in Wild (And Not So Wild) Places with this specialist volume aimed at cooking found and gathered produce. Stressing the need to forage safely and not eat any plant unless completely certain of its identification and that it's free of pesticides and herbicides, the author explains 'what makes wild food special' before describing methods of preparation and food types, winemaking and the wild food seasons. Main courses and desserts are intermingled so much so that it becomes hard to tell whether the ingredient is a main component or an enhancer. Filled with humorous anecdotes and small descriptions, almost every recipe relies on at least one foraged ingredient, though where possible Brill offers health store alternatives (while Monsieur Wildman's French Dressing calls for wild spearmint, he does suggest cultivated mint; unsweetened apple juice can be substituted for wild apples in Spiced Wild Apple Cider). In the end, the book will appeal to those who enjoy foraging in the wild as well as the vegetarian who is not only health- but also environmentally conscious.

Book In Search of the Wild Tofurky

Download or read book In Search of the Wild Tofurky written by Seth Tibbott and published by Diversion Books. This book was released on 2020-04-07 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The founder of Tofurky reveals how an idealistic hippie living in a treehouse created a global brand—and sold millions of products without selling out. In this entertaining memoir, Seth Tibbott reveals how he achieved overnight success—but only after fifteen years of intrepid failure. He tells the triumphant tale of how a self-described hippie with no business training but plenty of enterprising goals grew a $2,500 startup into a global brand and ushered in a plant-based foods renaissance along the way. Tibbott took home a grand total of $31,000 in his first nine years of striving to bring to the people a nearly unknown soy product—tempeh—he knew in his gut was revolutionarily tasty. He eschewed a buttoned-up lifestyle and resided in tipis, trailers, and a treehouse; rented workspace to piano-repairing circus clowns; and even briefly counted the infamous Rajneeshees as clients. Tibbott was never one to chase the money or try to fit in. Instead, he built a business that fit him. Thus Tibbott discovered the “secret sauce” ingredients that took his now-international brand from fameless to fame-ish to famous: bootstrapping, building business intuition, and staying true to his belief in eco-friendly practices. In Search of the Wild Tofurky proves that a good idea can change the world and make money, no matter the naysayers or the sometimes-harsh twists and turns of the unconventional path. “Expert advice and inspiration from a most unconventional source . . . An education in the business of ethics.” ―Eric C Lindstrom, author of The Skeptical Vegan
