Book Harmonic Feedback

Download or read book Harmonic Feedback written by Tara Kelly and published by Henry Holt and Company (BYR). This book was released on 2010-05-25 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sixteen-year-old, music- and sound design-obsessed Drea doesn't have friends. She has, as she's often reminded, issues. Drea's mom and a rotating band of psychiatrists have settled on "a touch of Asperger's." Having just moved to the latest in a string of new towns, Drea meets two other outsiders. And Naomi and Justin seem to actually like Drea. The three of them form a band after an impromptu, Portishead-comparison-worthy jam after school. Justin swiftly challenges not only Drea's preference for Poe over Black Lab but also her perceived inability to connect with another person. Justin, against all odds, may even like like Drea. It's obvious that Drea can't hide behind her sound equipment anymore. But just when she's found not one but two true friends, can she stand to lose one of them? Harmonic Feedback is a 2011 Bank Street - Best Children's Book of the Year.

Book Mixed Twistor D modules

Download or read book Mixed Twistor D modules written by Takuro Mochizuki and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-08-19 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We introduce mixed twistor D-modules and establish their fundamental functorial properties. We also prove that they can be described as the gluing of admissible variations of mixed twistor structures. In a sense, mixed twistor D-modules can be regarded as a twistor version of M. Saito's mixed Hodge modules. Alternatively, they can be viewed as a mixed version of the pure twistor D-modules studied by C. Sabbah and the author. The theory of mixed twistor D-modules is one of the ultimate goals in the study suggested by Simpson's Meta Theorem and it would form a foundation for the Hodge theory of holonomic D-modules which are not necessarily regular singular.

Book The Wild Harmonic

Download or read book The Wild Harmonic written by Beth Patterson and published by Hidden World Books. This book was released on 2016-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Orleans musician Birch "Buzz" MacKinlay used to think she was the only werewolf in the world. But that was before the mysterious and captivating Rowan welcomed her into his pack, and showed her that shapeshifters- all kinds of shapeshifters- were hiding in plain sight everywhere. Now Birch is on a crash course by day to learn everything she can about the secret "shifter" world, while gigging as a bass player at night. But there's a problem with this dream come true: a dark and growing danger threatens the shifters, who are beginning to mysteriously disappear or die. Faced with hecklers, drunks, stalkers, and incompetent bandmates in one life and fang-toothed double agents in the other, Birch doesn't know who to trust- especially now that she's the target of a powerful enemy. With menace closing in fast, Birch must find a way to save her new pack... or lose everything that matters, including her own life.

Book Geometry and Physics

Download or read book Geometry and Physics written by Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nigel Hitchin is one of the world's foremost figures in the fields of differential and algebraic geometry and their relations with mathematical physics, and he has been Savilian Professor of Geometry at Oxford since 1997. Geometry and Physics: A Festschrift in honour of Nigel Hitchin contain the proceedings of the conferences held in September 2016 in Aarhus, Oxford, and Madrid to mark Nigel Hitchin's 70th birthday, and to honour his far-reaching contributions to geometry and mathematical physics. These texts contain 29 articles by contributors to the conference and other distinguished mathematicians working in related areas, including three Fields Medallists. The articles cover a broad range of topics in differential, algebraic and symplectic geometry, and also in mathematical physics. These volumes will be of interest to researchers and graduate students in geometry and mathematical physics.

Book Periodic Monopoles and Difference Modules

Download or read book Periodic Monopoles and Difference Modules written by Takuro Mochizuki and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-23 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book studies a class of monopoles defined by certain mild conditions, called periodic monopoles of generalized Cherkis–Kapustin (GCK) type. It presents a classification of the latter in terms of difference modules with parabolic structure, revealing a kind of Kobayashi–Hitchin correspondence between differential geometric objects and algebraic objects. It also clarifies the asymptotic behaviour of these monopoles around infinity. The theory of periodic monopoles of GCK type has applications to Yang–Mills theory in differential geometry and to the study of difference modules in dynamical algebraic geometry. A complete account of the theory is given, including major generalizations of results due to Charbonneau, Cherkis, Hurtubise, Kapustin, and others, and a new and original generalization of the nonabelian Hodge correspondence first studied by Corlette, Donaldson, Hitchin and Simpson. This work will be of interest to graduate students and researchers in differential and algebraic geometry, as well as in mathematical physics.

Book Schubert s Workshop Volume 1

Download or read book Schubert s Workshop Volume 1 written by Brian Newbould and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-10-25 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Schubert’s Workshop offers a fresh study of the composer’s compositional technique and its development, rooted in the author’s experience of realising performing versions of Franz Schubert’s unfinished works. Through close examination of Schubert’s use of technical and structural devices, Brian Newbould demonstrates that Schubert was much more technically innovative than has been supposed, and argues that the composer’s technical discoveries constitute a rich legacy of specific influences on later composers. Providing rich new insights into the creative practice of one of the major figures of classical music, this two-volume study reframes our understanding of Schubert as an innovator who constantly pushed at the frontiers of style and expression.

Book Introduction to Stokes Structures

Download or read book Introduction to Stokes Structures written by Claude Sabbah and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-10-03 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research monograph provides a geometric description of holonomic differential systems in one or more variables. Stokes matrices form the extended monodromy data for a linear differential equation of one complex variable near an irregular singular point. The present volume presents the approach in terms of Stokes filtrations. For linear differential equations on a Riemann surface, it also develops the related notion of a Stokes-perverse sheaf. This point of view is generalized to holonomic systems of linear differential equations in the complex domain, and a general Riemann-Hilbert correspondence is proved for vector bundles with meromorphic connections on a complex manifold. Applications to the distributions solutions to such systems are also discussed, and various operations on Stokes-filtered local systems are analyzed.
