Download or read book The Voices We Carry written by J. S. Park and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2020-05-05 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reclaim Your Headspace and Find Your One True Voice As a hospital chaplain, J.S. Park encountered hundreds of patients at the edge of life and death, listening as they urgently shared their stories, confessions, and final words. J.S. began to identify patterns in his patients’ lives—patterns he also saw in his own life. He began to see that the events and traumas we experience throughout life become deafening voices that remain within us, even when the events are far in the past. He was surprised to find that in hearing the voices of his patients, he began to identify his own voices and all the ways they could both harm and heal. In The Voices We Carry, J.S. draws from his experiences as a hospital chaplain to present the Voices Model. This model explores the four internal voices of self-doubt, pride, people-pleasing, and judgment, and the four external voices of trauma, guilt, grief, and family dynamics. He also draws from his Asian-American upbringing to examine the challenges of identity and feeling “other.” J.S. outlines how to wrestle with our voices, and even befriend them, how to find our authentic voice in a world of mixed messages, and how to empower those who are voiceless. Filled with evidence-based research, spiritual and psychological insights, and stories of patient encounters, The Voices We Carry is an inspiring memoir of unexpected growth, humor, and what matters most. For those wading through a world of clamor and noise, this is a guide to find your clear, steady voice.

Her first stage appearance was at the age of three during a seaside holiday in Caervarvon. By the time she was eight the purity of her voice had won her many local singing competitions and when she responded to a request from a daytime televison programme to hear from 'talented kids' the sound of her voice singing on the phone caused the producers to invite her on to the show, which she completely stole. She was soon signed up by Sony Classical, and after the release of her album, Voice of an Angel, she was invited to perform for the Prince of Wales' 50th birthday celebrations at the Albert Hall, for Pope John Paul's Christmas concert at the Vatican and for President Clinton at the White House. Book Vacant of the Voice of the Church

Download or read book Vacant of the Voice of the Church written by Ronnie W. Gordon and published by ISBN Services. This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book challenges the Church to step from lukewarmness and reach for the great zeal of God. The Church can no longer hide or overlook sin to benefit those who may be offended. The Church is to grow from milk and eat meat with a complete set of teeth. When members miss Church regularly, it is difficult for these persons to grow in knowledge and wisdom. When a member gets behind, sometimes even the Church begins to lag behind since the Church desires to wait instead of moving forward.. There are grade levels in education, and without visibility in Church, but who would know the spiritual level of each person in a congregation? So, it is the individual's responsibility to keep up with the needed knowledge and wisdom. It is the responsibility of the Church to present truths from the Word of God continuously. A group meeting religiously does not mean this is a church. A church is built on truth and wavers not when presenting the truths from the Word of God. The True Church does not filter the truths of the Lord Jesus and His Commandments and does not become vacant of a voice for the truth. Jesus loved His Church that He gave himself for it, and it is time for us to secure that blessing and share our lives for the Church and truth of the Lord Jesus Christ. While it is "DAY," the world cannot be vacant of the "voice of the church." For God so loved the world He gave His Son, Yeshua, to die for the Church, and in His stead, would VOICE the truth of His life, death, and resurrection for all who believe as Yeshua prepares a place for us. VOICE UP, CHURCH!

Book Transforming Congregations through Community

Download or read book Transforming Congregations through Community written by Boyung Lee and published by Westminster John Knox Press. This book was released on 2013-11-04 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this helpful book, Boyung Lee offers an encouraging vision of the mainline church’s future. Lee grapples with some of the greatest challenges facing the mainline church, offering compelling responses to recurring questions: What does faithfulness to the gospel look like in this changing world? What is our distinctive voice in the larger society? How does theological education have to change if it is to serve the needs of a new century? Lee argues that the church’s future is a promising one if the church can offer a richer and deeper definition of community—one that moves beyond the excessive individualism of western culture and that helps mainline Christians understand their solidarity with one another and with all of God’s people. Lee further explores the crucial role of faith formation at the congregational and seminary levels. More than mere schooling, theological education must engage all aspects of educators’ and students’ lives to prepare seminarians for the challenges that lie ahead. While not dismissing the mainline church’s challenges, Lee offers congregational leaders and seminary educators a vision of a church transformed for the 21st century.

Book The Voice of Conscience

Download or read book The Voice of Conscience written by Lewis V. Baldwin and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Before he was a civil rights leader, the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., was a man of the church. His father was a pastor, and much of young Martin's time was spent in Baptist churches. He went on to seminary and received a Ph.D. in theology. In 1953, he took over leadership of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Atlanta. The church was his home. But, as he began working for civil rights, King became a fierce critic of the churches, both black and white. He railed against white Christian leaders who urged him to be patient in the struggle - or even opposed civil rights altogether. And, while the black church was the platform from which King launched the struggle for civil rights, he was deeply ambivalent toward the church as an institution, and saw it as in constant need of reform. In this book, Lewis Baldwin explores King's complex relationship with the Christian church, from his days growing up at Ebenezer Baptist, to his work as a pastor, to his battles with American churches over civil rights, to his vision for the global church. King, Baldwin argues, had a robust and multifaceted view of the nature and purpose of the church that serves as a model for the church in the 21st century.
