Perhaps you are just opening to the spiritual journey of learning who you are and why you're here on Mother Earth. Maybe you've already been walking this path, but you sense that something is still missing. Your soul is calling you toward your divine mission. This book will help you to step ever closer to that sacred calling. It will teach you about the world of psychics and mediums, about your angels and guides and how to receive their blessings and messages, about rising above society's conditioning, and about following profound spiritual practices. Most of all, this book will gently assure you and remind you that you are indeed a spiritual being and that even if others see you as "different," you really can do whatever your heart desires. "The Visionary Messenger opens the door and turns on the light to the gifts that we have suppressed within us due to the negative influences of the physical world. Through sharing her story, Adele, helps us to identify that yes, we too, were born with the ability to connect with The Creator of All That Is, angels, guides, teachers and deceased loved ones. She explains the conceptual realities of connecting with something greater than ourselves - the possibilities, the peace, and the fulfillment of being true to the core of whom and what we are and the love. The Visionary Messenger is not just Adele's story, like so many spiritual books. Within its pages are introductory tools and teachings to help one discern the level of interest and commitment to one's spiritual journey. A knowing will stir within, that "yes, there is more." The unsettled, restless feelings that have been suppressed will insist on moving you forward in the search for answers. The Visionary Messenger will help you begin to set a firm foundation to experience fulfillment of your spiritual journey - are you ready to look within and pull forth your power, to enlighten yourself and achieve the fulfillment of your mission here on Mother Earth?"-Kathryn Large, Founder of Soul Kisses In all these things I write and give to you in these pages, please remember, I know on many levels this book will tweak you in your belief structures and in who you are. That is only one area of what this book is about, I give you the keys in which to unlock the doors to your own Divine Mission and purpose in this lifetime. One that will assist you in opening your eyes to the real Reality in which you live each day.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this work a distinguished scholar of Islamic religion examines the mysticism and psychological thought of the great eleventh-century Persian philosopher and physician Avicenna (Ibn Sina), author of over a hundred works on theology, logic, medicine, and mathematics. Henry Corbin's discovery in an Istanbul library of the manuscript of a Persian translation of and commentary on Avicenna's Hayy ibn Yaqzan, written in Arabic, led him to an analysis of three of Avicenna's mystical "recitals." These form an initiatory cycle leading the adept along the path of spiritual progress. In Part I Corbin summarizes the great themes that show the philosophical situation of Avicennan man in the cosmos and presents translations of these three great Avicennan recitals. Part II is a complete translation, with notes, of the Persian commentary. Originally published in 1960. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. Book The Oxford Handbook of Apocalyptic Literature

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Apocalyptic Literature written by John J. Collins and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2014-03-17 with total page 565 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Apocalypticism arose in ancient Judaism in the last centuries BCE and played a crucial role in the rise of Christianity. It is not only of historical interest: there has been a growing awareness, especially since the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, of the prevalence of apocalyptic beliefs in the contemporary world. To understand these beliefs, it is necessary to appreciate their complex roots in the ancient world, and the multi-faceted character of the phenomenon of apocalypticism. The Oxford Handbook of Apocalyptic Literature is a thematic and phenomenological exploration of apocalypticism in the Judaic and Christian traditions. Most of the volume is devoted to the apocalyptic literature of antiquity. Essays explore the relationship between apocalypticism and prophecy, wisdom and mysticism; the social function of apocalypticism and its role as resistance literature; apocalyptic rhetoric from both historical and postmodern perspectives; and apocalyptic theology, focusing on phenomena of determinism and dualism and exploring apocalyptic theology's role in ancient Judaism, early Christianity, and Gnosticism. The final chapters of the volume are devoted to the appropriation of apocalypticism in the modern world, reviewing the role of apocalypticism in contemporary Judaism and Christianity, and more broadly in popular culture, addressing the increasingly studied relation between apocalypticism and violence, and discussing the relationship between apocalypticism and trauma, which speaks to the underlying causes of the popularity of apocalyptic beliefs. This volume will further the understanding of a vital religious phenomenon too often dismissed as alien and irrational by secular western society.

Book excerpt: The Word Biblical Commentary delivers the best in biblical scholarship, from the leading scholars of our day who share a commitment to Scripture as divine revelation. This series emphasizes a thorough analysis of textual, linguistic, structural, and theological evidence. The result is judicious and balanced insight into the meanings of the text in the framework of biblical theology. These widely acclaimed commentaries serve as exceptional resources for the professional theologian and instructor, the seminary or university student, the working minister, and everyone concerned with building theological understanding from a solid base of biblical scholarship. Overview of Commentary Organization Introduction—covers issues pertaining to the whole book, including context, date, authorship, composition, interpretive issues, purpose, and theology. Each section of the commentary includes: Pericope Bibliography—a helpful resource containing the most important works that pertain to each particular pericope. Translation—the author’s own translation of the biblical text, reflecting the end result of exegesis and attending to Hebrew and Greek idiomatic usage of words, phrases, and tenses, yet in reasonably good English. Notes—the author’s notes to the translation that address any textual variants, grammatical forms, syntactical constructions, basic meanings of words, and problems of translation. Form/Structure/Setting—a discussion of redaction, genre, sources, and tradition as they concern the origin of the pericope, its canonical form, and its relation to the biblical and extra-biblical contexts in order to illuminate the structure and character of the pericope. Rhetorical or compositional features important to understanding the passage are also introduced here. Comment—verse-by-verse interpretation of the text and dialogue with other interpreters, engaging with current opinion and scholarly research. Explanation—brings together all the results of the discussion in previous sections to expose the meaning and intention of the text at several levels: (1) within the context of the book itself; (2) its meaning in the OT or NT; (3) its place in the entire canon; (4) theological relevance to broader OT or NT issues. General Bibliography—occurring at the end of each volume, this extensive bibliographycontains all sources used anywhere in the commentary.

Book Urban Imagination in Biblical Prophecy

Download or read book Urban Imagination in Biblical Prophecy written by Mary E. Mills and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2012-10-26 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume brings together aspects of contemporary study of cultural geography and selected passages from prophetic texts of the Hebrew Bible/ Old Testament. The aim is to identify how the image of the city helps to construct meaning inside the biblical material. In order to carry out this task relevant textual narratives are analysed and then read from the viewpoint of space, place and urban studies. This latter category includes the works of Lefebvre, Bachelard, Soja, Massey, Amin and Thrift and Pile, among others. A major finding is that urban imagination is a tool by which the texts manage the experience of political and social events in a time of radical change.

Book The Four Vision Quests of Jesus

Download or read book The Four Vision Quests of Jesus written by Steven Charleston and published by Church Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2015-05 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: • Christian theology as seen through the lens of Native American tradition A unique look at Christian biblical interpretation and theology from the perspective of Native American tradition, this book focuses on four specific experiences of Jesus as portrayed in the synoptic gospels. It examines each story as a “vision quest,” a universal spiritual phenomenon, but one of particular importance within North American indigenous communities. Jesus’ experience in the wilderness is the first quest. It speaks to a foundational Native American value: the need to enter into the “we” rather than the “I.” The Transfiguration is the second quest, describing the Native theology of transcendent spirituality that impacts reality and shapes mission. Gethsemane is the third quest. It embodies the Native tradition of the holy men or women, who find their freedom through discipline and concerns for justice, compassion, and human dignity. Golgotha is the final quest. It represents the Native sacrament of sacrifice (e.g., the Sun Dance). The chapter on Golgotha is a discussion of kinship, balance, and harmony: all primary to Native tradition and integral to Christian thought.

Download or read book The Gifts of the Holy Spirit written by Dr. Daryl B. Brock and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-07-26 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, God's overall plan for the church aligns us with His purpose and plan for the manifestation of the son of God, "To destroy the works of the devil"(1 John 3:8). This book, The Gifts of the Holy Spirit: To Destroy the Works of the Devil, is about God's path for our lives to the church and purpose for our lives within the church. "Devil" simply means "liar." All Satan's machinations, strategies, atrocities, and crimes are built on his lies, however and whenever they are manifested. The manifestation of God's truth in our lives vigorously counteracts the works of the liar. God's truth heals the devastating effects that these lies have had on us personally, our communities, and our society at large. More than just a transmission of confusing facts and figures to let you know how smart I am, this book takes the truth of God's Word and helps you connect the dots with the intention of painting a clearer picture of your purpose in Christ as a son of God and therefore the purpose of the "Christ in you." The resulting portrait allows the reader to align our Christlike responsibility to work with God, with our Holy Ghost given gifts, abilities, and opportunities to motivate positive personal changes but also, collectively as sons of God, dynamic changes in our society...indeed-the world.
