Book excerpt: The latest archaeology and history redefining book from bestselling author Graham Hancock (Fingerprints of the Gods), who is featured in Ancient Apocalypse, a hit Netflix original docuseries. "With the original unabridged text of Supernatural, I offer the reader an investigation that explores the human experience with psychedelics from the Stone Age to the Space Age and the role of these extraordinary plant medicines as tools to investigate the nature of reality itself."—Graham Hancock Discover the pathway to the gods. Less than 50,000 years ago mankind had no art, no religion, no sophisticated symbolism, no innovative thinking. Then, in a dramatic and electrifying change, described by scientists as "the greatest riddle in human history," all the skills and qualities that we value most highly in ourselves appeared already fully formed, as though bestowed on us by hidden powers. In Visionary, Graham Hancock sets out to investigate this mysterious "before-and-after moment" and to discover the truth about the influences that gave birth to modern human mind. His quest takes him on a journey of adventure and detection from the stunningly beautiful painted caves of prehistoric France, Spain, and Italy to remote rock shelters in the mountains of South Africa, where he finds a treasure trove of extraordinary Stone Age art. Hancock uncovers clues that lead him to travel to the depths of the Amazon rainforest to drink the powerful plant hallucinogen ayahuasca with Indian shamans, whose paintings contain images of "supernatural beings" identical to the animal-human hybrids depicted in prehistoric caves and rock shelters. Hallucinogens such as mescaline also produce visionary encounters with exactly the same beings. Scientists at the cutting edge of consciousness research have begun to consider the possibility that such hallucinations may be real perceptions of other "dimensions." Could the "supernaturals" first depicted in the painted caves and rock shelters be the ancient teachers of mankind? Could it be that human evolution is not just the "blind," "meaningless" process that Darwin identified, but something more purposive and intelligent, something that we have barely even begun to understand? Previously published as Supernatural, this definitive edition includes a new Introduction by Graham Hancock as well as restored chapters that were omitted from the original paperback release.

It is a resourceful guide for readers from all walks of life on contemporary human resource practices. Review: In the present book, I am glad to note that various aspects of Arthashastra have been included as the roles and responsibilities of the HR department. The authors of this book Santosh Bagwe and Tushar Kokane have used the ideas from Kautilya’s Arthashastra for modern-day HR practitioners. The book has taken a lot of ideas from the original work of Chanakya and interpreted in a modern format. Easy to understand and simple in language, not only HR professionals will benefit from the book, but also general readers. I am glad this book is an excellent contribution to the corporate world which will get a lot of tips from Arthashastra and the wisdom of Chanakya. - Radhakrishnan Pillai (Author of Corporate Chanakya and other Chanakya Books)

Book A Portrait of a Visionary Trans Human and His Work

Download or read book A Portrait of a Visionary Trans Human and His Work written by Benjamin Katz and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-09-26 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prepare yourself for a rough ride into the end of this century. It will be dramatic, bloody, and mind-boggling. The world crisis and conflicts will deepen due to the pressure of growing populations, the scarcity of resources, pollution, and climate change. This chaos will result in some losers among them democracy, liberal humanism, and human rights. They will get their wings cut off and wont play a major role in the future to come. The winners will probably go for a new global faith and democrature, sustainable policies, upgraded humans, and trimmed-up civilization. This transformation is inevitable if we wish to grant our progenies a fair chance to prevail and evolve further beyond our semiprimitive stage. Almost all human beings consider Homo sapiens to be indispensable, but this is a plain delusion. Since there is only one thing that is certain, everything is temporary, these views show the built-in limitations of human reasoning and long-term thinking. The future of intelligent life lies beyond us!

  • Pages : 226 pages

Download or read book Visionary Worlds written by Lee Irwin and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1996-03-07 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Visionary Worlds examines the role and significance of imagination and the myth-making processes that engage human beings in constructing a viable, living world of meaningful relations, beliefs, and social interactions. In this process of "world-building," we each draw on a wide variety of ideologies--religious, philosophical, aesthetic or scientific--which often conflict and clash with one another in the struggle to evolve a coherent and meaningful worldview. This unpredictable and fallible process often requires considerable readjustment or revisions as the complexities of an increasingly pluralistic society impinge upon us with greater divergence and multiplicity. This work examines the ways in which we all make and unmake our reality as part of the challenge of seeking greater spiritual maturity and relatedness to others.

Book William Blake and the Visionary Law

Download or read book William Blake and the Visionary Law written by Matthew Mauger and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-10-15 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the difficult relationship between individual intellectual freedom and the legal structures which govern human societies in William Blake’s works, showing that this tension carries a political urgency that has not yet been recognised by scholars in the field. In doing so, it offers a new approach to Blake’s corpus that builds on the literary and cultural historical work of recent decades. Blake’s pronouncements about law may often sound biblical in tone; but this book argues that they directly address (and are informed by) eighteenth-century legal debates concerning the origin of the English common law, the autonomy of the judicature, the increasing legislative role of Parliament, and the emergence of the notions of constitutionalism and natural rights. Through a study of his illuminated books, manuscript works, notebook drafts and annotations, this study considers Blake’s understanding that law is both integral to humanity itself and a core component of its potential fulfilment of the ‘Human Form Divine’.

Book The Travelogue of a Visionary

Download or read book The Travelogue of a Visionary written by Tricia Irene and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2012-04-27 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to be a visionary? How do I shape my philosophy in vision? What does the value of vision look like? This book wears these answers on its sleeve. During a sabbatical from conceptual systems in pursuit of truth and wisdom, the secluded W.J. challenged himself to find the value of vision. This book is merely documented organically as W.J.s open letter to the global community of visionaries. After a year reconstructing and establishing the values of vision, he persuasively argues the notion that transcendent truth is the credibility gap between the vanguard visionary and the emerging, digital, twenty-first-century visionary. This book has his practical and profound radically new approach to universal vision concerning epistemology, business ethics, and global issues.

Book Ashoka the Visionary

Download or read book Ashoka the Visionary written by Ashok Khanna and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-02-18 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ungainly in appearance, disliked by his father, the king, but nurtured by his mother, Ashoka worked to elicit his elders' approval. At the age of 18, his father sent him to quell a rebellion that his brother, the crown prince, had failed to do. His success propelled him to be appointed as viceroy of a province. There he met Devi, a beautiful, devout Buddhist. With the death of his father, supported by the chief minister, Ashoka was crowned the new king. Ashoka ruled the Indian subcontinent from 269 bce to 232 bce. After the Kalinga War, a turning point for Ashoka, his devotion to Buddha's teachings became unconditional, and he based his governance on its precepts of non-violence, tolerance and compassion. His support for Buddhism helped it grow from a small sect to a world religion. When it spread to Asia, his model of Dharmaraj was emulated as exemplary kingship by many Asian rulers through history. Prime Minister Nehru, in The Discovery of India, described Ashoka as 'a man who was greater than any king or emperor'. He worked to incorporate Ashoka's secular approach and considerate administration in India's Constitution. As a young democracy, India must adopt both Ashoka's and Nehru's vision of compassionate governance to mature as a nation.

Book The Visionary Art of William Blake

Download or read book The Visionary Art of William Blake written by Naomi Billingsley and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2018-05-10 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: William Blake (1757-1827) is considered one of the most singular and brilliant talents that England has ever produced. Celebrated now for the originality of his thinking, painting and verse, he shocked contemporaries by rejecting all forms of organized worship even while adhering to the truth of the Bible. But how did he come to equate Christianity with art? How did he use images and paint to express those radical and prophetic ideas about religion which he came in time to believe? And why did he conceive of Christ himself as an artist: in fact, as the artist, par excellence? These are among the questions which Naomi Billingsley explores in her subtle and wide-ranging new study in art, religion and the history of ideas. Suggesting that Blake expresses through his representations of Jesus a truly distinctive theology of art, and offering detailed readings of Blake's paintings and biblical commentary, she argues that her subject thought of Christ as an artist-archetype. Blake's is thus a distinctively 'Romantic' vision of art in which both the artist and his saviour fundamentally change the way that the world is perceived.

Book They Shimmer Within Cognitive Evolutionary Perspectives on Visionary Beings

Download or read book They Shimmer Within Cognitive Evolutionary Perspectives on Visionary Beings written by Bruce Rimell and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-01-19 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of psychedelic drugs plants is rising, and with it the number of reports narrating encounters with otherworldly visionary beings. Approaches to these experiences have often been literal, archetypal or dismissive. Evolutionary psychology and the cognitive science of religion suggest innate and non-imagistic mental foundations for these phenomena arising from easily-triggered evolutionary functions during emotive periods of high cognitive demand. Such functions include agent detection, social intelligence faculties and metacognition. This wide-ranging book explores how our deepest mental processes predispose us as humans to believe in supernatural agents, and presents a new hypothesis of how these same cognitions facilitate the emergence of those agents to become present when psychedelic drugs and plants are ingested. Bruce concludes that visionary beings shimmer within as awe-inspiring products of the mind, an experience which rests at the heart of what it is to be human.
