The word “Phantograms” means‘ The people who lost wealth and power ‘. It narrates long and glorious stories of numerous heroes, heroines and their heroic deeds that have universal importance. A colourless ocean is created that contains virtue and evilness. The two kinds of characters are presented in the ocean of fancy, one representsfor the well-being of the down-trodden when other argues for prosperity of a few people who stand for evilness. The gloriouscharges and sincere duties ae consigned to the superhuman characters such as god Sycorax, god Stephano and goddess Maurya to destroy the rivers of superstition that flow along the boundaries of universes. In 'The village of phantograms', there are thousands of small, big, important, unimportant and superhuman characters that have universal importance like the characters that are seen in other epics that were published in other languages centuries ago. The two different dynasties named Joundering and Lazandering dynasties that uplift their social status among them before the world. Many superhuman char acters are brought among them to find their fault and correct immoral deeds by fixing strong restraint over them. The people are weak, they try to lead the world into its proper way, but these people themselves depend on evilness by destroying or defeating their own neighbours and relatives. On this occasion, gods or goddesses themselves take their incarnations among the good people who stand for world well-being. In this epic, goddess Maurya is introduced as the central character. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The recent advances in display technologies and mobile devices is having an important effect on the way users interact with all kinds of devices (computers, mobile devices, laptops, tablets, and so on). These are opening up new possibilities for interaction, including the distribution of the UI (User Interface) amongst different devices, and implies that the UI can be split and composed, moved, copied or cloned among devices running the same or different operating systems. These new ways of manipulating the UI are considered under the emerging topic of Distributed User Interfaces (DUIs). DUIs are concerned with the repartition of one of many elements from one or many user interfaces in order to support one or many users to carry out one or many tasks on one or many domains in one or many contexts of use – each context of use consisting of users, platforms, and environments. The 20 chapters in the book cover between them the state-of-the-art, the foundations, and original applications of DUIs. Case studies are also included, and the book culminates with a review of interesting and novel applications that implement DUIs in different scenarios.

Book Proxemic Interactions

  • Author : Nicolai Marquardt
  • Publisher : Springer Nature

  • ISBN : 3031022084

Download or read book Proxemic Interactions written by Nicolai Marquardt and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the everyday world, much of what we do as social beings is dictated by how we perceive and manage our interpersonal space. This is called proxemics. At its simplest, people naturally correlate physical distance to social distance. We believe that people’s expectations of proxemics can be exploited in interaction design to mediate their interactions with devices (phones, tablets, computers, appliances, large displays) contained within a small ubiquitous computing ecology. Just as people expect increasing engagement and intimacy as they approach others, so should they naturally expect increasing connectivity and interaction possibilities as they bring themselves and their devices in close proximity to one another. This is called Proxemic Interactions. This book concerns the design of proxemic interactions within such future proxemic-aware ecologies. It imagines a world of devices that have fine-grained knowledge of nearby people and other devices—how they move into range, their precise distance, their identity, and even their orientation—and how such knowledge can be exploited to design interaction techniques. The first part of this book concerns theory. After introducing proxemics, we operationalize proxemics for ubicomp interaction via the Proxemic Interactions framework that designers can use to mediate people’s interactions with digital devices. The framework, in part, identifies five key dimensions of proxemic measures (distance, orientation, movement, identity, and location) to consider when designing proxemic-aware ubicomp systems. The second part of this book applies this theory to practice via three case studies of proxemic-aware systems that react continuously to people’s and devices’ proxemic relationships. The case studies explore the application of proxemics in small-space ubicomp ecologies by considering first person-to-device, then device-to-device, and finally person-to-person and device-to-device proxemic relationships. We also offer a critical perspective on proxemic interactions in the form of “dark patterns,” where knowledge of proxemics may (and likely will) be easily exploited to the detriment of the user. Book excerpt: An Annotated Tour of the 1850s series of Stereo Photographs "Scenes in our Village" by T.R. WilliamsThis book is the perfect antidote to the stress of life in the 21st Century. It portrays the idyll of life in an 1850s village, "far from the sound of the train's whistle".The identity of the village was lost to the world for 150 years, and only by a miracle does this magical set of stereoscopic views survive, brought together for the very first time by Brian May and his co-author, photohistorian Elena Vidal. Their research is amazingly in-depth, but the book is utterly readable, and the pictures leap into glorious 3-D, viewed in the new focussing stereoscope which May has designed and produced, to bring the stereos to life, and then fold neatly into the slip-case of the book. The book gives an extraordinary insight into everyday village life at the time - with a woman at her spinning wheel, the blacksmith outside his smithy, three men at the grind stone sharpening a tool, the villagers in the fields, bringing in the harvest as well as often taking time to enjoy a good gossip. In every case the original verse which accompanied the view is reproduced. In addition, May and Vidal have researched and annotated all the views, revealing another layer of meaning, by exploring the history of these real characters, this idyllic village and its links with the present day. The result is a powerfully atmospheric and touching set of photographs." A Village Lost and Found brings master pioneering stereographer T. R. Williams's passionate life-work Scenes in Our Village to a new audience - in glorious 3-D, as never before. For an Electronic Press Kit for A Village Lost and Found click here
