Book The Village in the Treetops

Download or read book The Village in the Treetops written by Jules Verne and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deepest Africa ... mysterious lights ... an attack by enraged elephants ... a lost race of ape-men ... and an unknown kingdom ruled by a mystic monarch ... Can this action-packed jungle adventure be a novel by the famed Jules Verne, who foresaw the submarine and the airplane, or is it more likely to be the work of a Haggard or even an Edgar Rice Burroughs? But the village in the treetops is indeed by Verne and just as exciting as an exotic African thriller ought to be. - Back cover

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Best known for his enormously successful independent film The Crying Game, Irish director Neil Jordan has made sixteen feature films since 1982. Even after achieving commercial success and critical acclaim with such films as Interview with the Vampire and The Butcher Boy, Jordan remains a curiously elusive figure in the era of the celebrity filmmaker. Maria Pramaggiore addresses this conundrum by examining Jordan's distinctive style across a surprisingly broad range of genres and production contexts, including horror and gangster films, Irish-themed movies, and Hollywood remakes. Despite the striking diversity of Jordan's films, the director consistently returns to gothic themes of loss, violence, and madness. In her sophisticated examination of Mona Lisa, Michael Collins, and The Good Thief, Pramaggiore shows how Jordan presents these dark narratives with a uniquely Irish and postmodern sense of irony. This illuminating analysis of one of the cinema's most important artists will be of keen interest to movie enthusiasts as well as students and scholars of contemporary film."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about events in my country, Sierra Leone, from the time it attains independence from the British to present-day life in Sierra Leone .The aim of the book is to chart the issue of corruption in Sierra Leone and the effect it is having in promoting underdevelopment in the country. Since its independence in April 27, 1961, the country has had few military and civilian governments. And throughout this period, the country has gone from crisis to crisis, and it is all man-made. The country has gone through both military and civilian dictatorship, which resulted in a civil war that lasted for ten years. The main cause of this crisis is the issue of corruption and nepotism. In Sierra Leone is not what you know but is who you know that will propel you for a brighter future. The aim of my book is to help highlight some of the corruption in the country and how the civilian population will help to fight it so we can put our beloved Sierra Leone, with its huge natural resources like gold, diamonds, and oil, to full use for the benefit of everyone in the country. Sierra Leone deserves to be one of the most developed nations on earth, but because of the greed of certain people in high places, the country is ranked as one of the least developed countries in the world. If countries like Denmark who only produce cheese can be counted in the league of developed nations, surely Sierra Leone and many other African countries can take a leaf from those Scandinavian countries.

Book excerpt: Threads of starlight weave life together in a rich saga of multidimensional tales. They are the light between shadows which is where these earth stories have been awaiting their unveiling. That time is now, whatever now in which they happen into your world. Galaxy 313: Book One of the mystical fiction series Hearts Beat Wisdom introduces the principal characters and provides an overview of events thus far. These timeless tales for ages 8 through adult open a path to enlighten the heart and soul of humanity during this time of transformation. The light of love shining within each person must unite as One with Divine Presence to restore balance and harmony to self, the earth, and all life. • Niko of Quintaris—an adventurous young man who breaks with Quintaris tradition in following his heart. • Kuma, Wisdom Keeper and Star Spinner on Galaxy 313—a rare breed of guide and teacher. • Sefron—a light-being from Galaxy 313 who assumes visible forms, primarily as an elf who is Niko’s mentor on earth. • Annalisa—the fairy princess who is given to outbursts of worry about her mission of going to earth to remember who she is. • Humbugs—interdimensional way-showers through frequencies who fill crystals with dream images to assist those on their path of awakening. In the heart of a giant crystal cluster on Galaxy 313’s Brightest Star, nestled the round, furry creature yawning and puffing up in a big Humbug stretch. He could feel a special day stirring deep within himself on Crystal Mountain and beyond. “Look!” he announced in a soft, compelling hum to all who could hear him. “Open your eyes and listen with your heart. Feel beyond disorder’s illusion. Embrace the love that awaits all life.” Also by Linda L. Nielsen, PhD Microtonal Healing: Spirit of the Healing Voice. 2004. Camarillo, CA: DeVorss Publications. Received the 2005 Visionary Award in Alternative Healing.
