Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Faith Victorious Lennart Pinomaa presents a highly lucid and penetrating discussion of some of the major themes in the theology of the great Reformer. Numerous quotations from Luther himself enliven the treatment of such subjects as revelation, predestination, justification, the ministry, and the sacraments. In addition to presenting the results of his own research, the author provides skillful resumes of studies on such controversial problems and emphases as the bondage of the will, the wrath of God, the Spirit and the Word, marriage, vocation, and church and state. Throughout his book Pinomaa is concerned to show the existential character of faith in Luther's understanding and how that is determinative for all that is involved in being a Christian. Lennart Pinomaa was Professor of Theology at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Widely known in ecumenical circles for his Luther research, Pinomaa wrote this book as a result of a series of lectures he delivered at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota. Walter J. Kukkonen was Professor of Theology at Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: STUDIES IN THE BOOK OF JOSHUA This guide to Victorious Christian Living is not about a theory to be admired but an experience to be enjoyed. The greatest need of the Christian Church is a revival of the New Testament standard of living. There seems to be a wide gulf between what we believe and how we live, a marked contrast between our position in Christ and our actual experience. Too often we claim to believe our Bible from cover to cover, but fail to live out its truths in daily conduct. The spiritual emphasis of the book of Joshua is to move the believer beyond conversion into the land of promise that awaits us here and now. This book is written with the fervent prayer that the Lord may use it for His glory to help many people face afresh the implications of the Cross and the pattern of God's redemption in personal life.

Book The Victorious Christian Soldier in Christ s Army

Download or read book The Victorious Christian Soldier in Christ s Army written by Urian Oakes and published by Puritan Publications. This book was released on 2020-08-28 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to be a conqueror in Christ's army? In fact, the question really is, what does it mean to be not only a conqueror, but more than a conqueror and good soldier in Christ's ranks? Oakes, in this wonderful work on answering that question, dives deep into Paul’s statement in Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” The truth proclaimed by Oakes is that there is a “more than ordinary triumph” over all those enemies that oppose themselves against the progress and advancement of a Christian in his way to the fruition of the sweet fruits of the everlasting love of God in Jesus Christ. That all true believers have a transcendent, and incomparably glorious conquest and victory in all their severe engagements with the enemies of their peace and happiness, through the love of God in Christ Jesus. Every true believer is a soldier, and engaged in a warfare. Every true believer has a constant fighting work before God, and there is no end of his war in this world, not any time in which he can stop fighting. Yet, a true believer is never totally and absolutely conquered in any engagement with the enemies that war against him. Every true believer manages a successful war, and is sure of a conquest. A believer’s victory and conquest are incomparably glorious. Every believer obtains this glorious victory and conquest through the Lord Jesus Christ. The love of God in Christ is the absolute first cause of those victorious proceedings, and this infallible conquest of believers. These believers are the greatest soldiers who have ever lived, and are comforted in their fight by the blessings of Almighty God through Christ. All believers must know and consider that they are soldiers in Christ’s army, and have a fighting work, a warfare, before them until they reach heaven. They must, as faithful soldiers, improve their skill in fighting, and harness the spiritual power of the everlasting Gospel of Jesus for their victory. We wait, and pray, and look, and long for that glorious day, when our warfare shall be ended, and we shall go out of the field victorious, and triumphant, as absolute conquerors. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Download or read book Faith Victorious written by Richard D. Phillips and published by P & R Publishing. This book was released on 2002 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No portion of Scripture deals more clearly with the vitality of faith than Hebrews 11. This chapter is to faith what the thirteenth chapter of 1 Corinthians is to love, writes Richard Phillips. Hebrews 11 is the work of a master teacher and loving pastor who is convinced that the fate of his readers hinges on their faith. Like the first audience of the Book of Hebrews the church today faces mounting opposition--even persecution--and the danger of falling away from the truth. Faith Victorious opens the fascinating world of Old Testament men and women whose vision of a sure hope beyond their struggles led them to acts of great courage. It likewise calls us to persevere in faith and to spur each other on to love and good deeds. Rick Phillips combines in one person an extraordinary range of gifts and experiences: disciplined military training and teaching, deep personal commitment to Christ, a well-groomed understanding of Scripture, and a powerful enthusiasm for the spread of the gospel. Together these qualities leave a distinctive mark on his work.--Sinclair B. Ferguson

Book The Victorious Christian Life

Download or read book The Victorious Christian Life written by Eddie Snipes and published by . This book was released on 2013-02 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The victorious Christian life is not based on what you do for God, but what Christ has done for you. In Christ, you were ordained to conquer weaknesses, rise above failures, and inherit all of God's promises. Jesus said, it is the Father's good pleasure to give you His kingdom. God wants you to inherit everything reserved for the believer. In fact, the Bible says that we have been given everything that pertains to life and godliness. This means that a life lived in Christ cannot fail. While Jesus promised freedom, many feel bound to their past, the requirements of religion, and the limitations of their abilities. This is because the promise isn't given to those who walk according to the flesh, but only to those who walk in the Spirit. So what does it mean to walk in the Spirit? How do you live according to the new creation and put the deeds of the old creation to death? Understanding these fundamental truths are essential for walking in victory. Victory has been given, but we must learn to live in the Spirit. Living by faith isn't complicated, but unless we know what has been given to us through Christ, the truth cannot set us free. Lay aside guilt, fear, and frustration. Take the hand of grace and enjoy your fellowship with God as you journey through a life of victory!
