Book The Vedic Astronomy and Astrology Through Science Wisdom and Commonsense

Download or read book The Vedic Astronomy and Astrology Through Science Wisdom and Commonsense written by Buddhike Indrasena and published by . This book was released on 2020-01-05 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second edition of the originally published 'Vedic astronomy and astrology through science, wisdom and commonsense' by the author in 2014. This is the magnum opus of nearly ten years of my leisure-time research done on astrology and Vedic astronomy since 2011. Many topics of the first edition have been revised and rewritten. A new topic on the date of the Mahabharata war has been added. The book contains original and philosophical thoughts of the author on many topics in astrology and Vedic astronomy that have been understood wrongly and/or incompletely and /or not at all to date. The first chapter deals with how astrology works. This question has been bewildering to the both astrologers and non-astrologers. The author explains this issue in a novel and interesting way through Buddhism and science. In the second chapter issues related to Rahu-Ketu like the true vs. mean nodes, exaltation, debilitation and own signs, aspects etc. have been resolved. The confusion about tropical and sidereal astrology is addressed and sorted out in the third chapter. In the fourth chapter, the sidereal-seasonal year is explained. This term has been coined by the author. The 5th chapter is on the Ayanamsha, Chaturyuga and the beginning of Saka era. The reader will read in the sixth and seventh chapters that the Yuga concept of the Surya Siddhanta and the Aryabhatiya is one and the same, and it is not Kaliyuga at present. These thoughts are completely opposite to the current belief. The meaning of the Ayana Chalana verses of the Surya Siddhanta is explained in the chapter eight. It also describes the Vedic epochs, seasonal lunar/solar months and synodic lunar months. The Rashi based solar months are not Vedic. The extra months (Adhika Masa) and lost months (Kshaya Masa) as well as the ordinary months are not correctly named in the current calendar. This resulted in celebrating the Vesak festival on wrong dates in April month in 2018. The correct method is explained in chapter nine to avoid mishaps in the future. The chapter 10 on the date of the Mahabharata war is newly added. The correct date has been established beyond doubt. This question remained unanswered and guessed so far. The approach of the author to resolve this issue is unique. So far, researchers used the astronomical events to guess the date. The author discovers the date first and uses the discovered date to prove (sometimes inaccuracies of the translation) the astronomical events mentioned in the epic Mahabharata. The date of birth and the horoscope of Sri Krishna are also included in chapter 10. In the eleventh chapter, the theories behind the Saptarishis calendar and its uses in the past have been explained. The chapters 12 and 13, deal with purely astrological topics that have been incompletely understood so far (Graha Yuddha and Charakaraka system). The logical rules to find the winner of a planetary fight are explained in chapter 12. Why Matrukaraka and Pitrukaraka should be combined rather than the Matrukaraka and Putrakaraka is explained in chapter 13. One of the most interesting topics in the book is the one in chapter 14 dealing with the archaeological dates of the Gautama the Buddha. A novel (may be unscientific to many) approach has been taken to resolve the correct date. There are many curious things to read and think in this text for both the ordinary and expert readers in the subjects of astrology, astronomy and archaeoastronomy. Hope this text would pave a new path to the way how people look, think and act.

Book The Vedic Astronomy Astrology Through Science Wisdom and Commonsense

This book was released on 2015-08-24 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first edition of the previously published 'Vedic astronomy and astrology through science, wisdom and commonsense' by the author in 2014. Many topics have been revised and rewritten. Several new topics have also been added. The book contains original and philosophical thoughts of the author on many topics in astrology and Vedic astronomy that are understood wrongly and/or incompletely so far. The first chapter deals with how astrology works and not. This question has been bewildering to the both astrologers and non-astrologers. The author explains this issue in a novel and interesting way through Buddhism and science. The other chapters also deal with the topics of similar nature. This includes tropical zodiac vs. sidereal zodiac and true vs. mean Rahu in astrology. These are hitherto unanswered questions. The author has unequivocally explained why tropical zodiac is not scientific and why it is the Mean Node that is to be followed for astrological purposes. The author also resolves the topic on Ayanamsha. The author has tested the new Ayanamsha in practice, and found to be accurate and safe. He points out many flaws in the current use of Vedic astronomy, including the uncertainties of the Saptarishis calendar and the existing Vedic calendar. Quoting from the ancient astronomical and astrological texts, he has pointed out where the things have gone wrong and how to rectify. The new principles, perhaps rediscovered by the author, on Graha Yuddha and Charakaraka scheme are worth exploring. One of the most interesting topics is the one at the end dealing with the archaeological dates of the Gautama the Buddha. He has endeavoured to take a novel (may be unscientific to many) approach to resolve the correct date. There are many curious things to read and think in this text for both ordinary and expert readers in the subjects of astrology, astronomy and archaeoastronomy. Hope this text would pave a new path to the way people look and think.

Book Vedic Astronomy and Astrology Through Science Wisdom and Commonsense

Download or read book Vedic Astronomy and Astrology Through Science Wisdom and Commonsense written by Sri Harsha Indrasena and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-03-24 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book consists of ten articles written on important but controversial topics in astrology and Vedic astronomy. The answers for the controversies have been sought through science, wisdom and commonsense. This is not a book for the beginners or advanced learners to study astrology because this is not a book teaching astrology. It is more suitable for the experts and researchers in astrology and Vedic astronomy to think differently on certain matters of present form of astrology and Vedic astronomy. The beginners and the others can also use the book to find the answer to controversial topics. The most of the topics that have been discussed in the book, such as sidereal vs. tropical zodiac, Chaturyuga, Graha Yuddha, true vs. mean Nodes etc., are ill or misunderstood even by the experts. All subject matter (except the diagrams) given in this book is original and based on my own studies and understanding. Although I have already published on certain topics of this book earlier in magazines like The Jyotish Digest and Saptarishis Astrology the majority of the articles are unpublished and revised. Readers cannot find the concepts discussed in this book by reading any other book written by other authors. It is my sincere hope that this book will provide core matter to the whole astrological community, both Vedic and non-Vedic, to find answers to hitherto unanswered hot topics in astrology. Readers will definitely find this book interesting and thought provoking.

Book Vedic Astrology The Light of Wisdom

Download or read book Vedic Astrology The Light of Wisdom written by Ajay Srivastava and published by Self-Publication. This book was released on 2022-07-16 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Astrology is the study that everything that exists on earth has a meaningful purpose and we are not living in isolation in this universe. This knowledge is for those who want to understand the intricacies of human life. Serious astrology requires in-depth study of texts, scriptures, and some kind of intuition as predictions cannot be based only on mathematical calculations. Astrology believes that everything is controlled by celestial bodies otherwise predictions are completely impossible. This human body is part of existence and the movement of celestial bodies affects us. It is a science as well as art. Time is a great teacher, but it also throws dust on what is not prevalent or what we leave behind. Every now and then we need to hone our skills to stay sharp. Similarly, the knowledge which gets disappears now needs to be uncovered and sharpened. At present, there is a need for a new way of interpretation that is suitable for the changing world and new environment, there is a need for relevant examples which are suitable for the present generation. This book explains astrological principles with a new set of examples in the changing environment so that the present generation can understand the hidden meaning behind the ancient texts.

Book The Vedic Astrologer

Download or read book The Vedic Astrologer written by James Kalomiris and published by . This book was released on 2019-09-04 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is newest installment of the series, The Secret History of the Vedas. This is a book of astrology like no other. This book presents an entirely new view of astrology as originally conceived by the Vedic astrologer. The Spiritual Legacy of the Nakshatras focuses on the Vedic lunar mansions in the sky and attempts to reveal their wisdom. It attempts to explain the numerous references to all things astronomical and astrological according to the Vedas and explain the true purpose of reading the stars. It traces the creation of the universe from the very beginnings of time and space to the development of the Nakshatras. It shows how this evolution guides the worshiper in the spiritual journey. The Vedic astrologer also describes the wisdom contained in the Nakshatras and methods by which this wisdom may be incorporated into the worshiper's life. Because this is what the Nakshatras have to give. The purpose of the lunar mansions was not to tell the future, but to guide the worshiper, to provide the religious edification of the worshiper in the now and present, and to provide the spiritual and religious structure to the Vedic dharma. Accordingly, this book is not concerned with forecasting into the future. It is as astrology was intended to be-a vehicle of spiritual advancement. It is all explained in and through The Vedic Astrologer.

Book Dulakara Ephemeris and Almanac 2015 Ce

Download or read book Dulakara Ephemeris and Almanac 2015 Ce written by B. Sri Harsha Indrasena and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Dulakara Vaidik Panchanga differs from other existing publications of similar nature in two main ways. Firstly it uses Dulakara Ayanamsha, which has been devised by excluding the error imparted by the atmospheric refraction on the observed position of star Spica as given in the Surya Siddhanta. Secondly the Dulakara Vaidik Panchanga gives the names of lunar and solar months in both synodic and Vaidik forms, as applicable to the current era following the principles and terminology given in the Vedanga Jyotish and the Surya Siddhanta. This is a kind of reformed Vedic calendar. Astonishingly in doing so this Panchanga retains the sidereal nature of computations. This is in marked contrast to the other proposed reformed Vedic calendars that maintain either the pure sidereal or pure tropical method of calculations only but not a blend of both. Dulakara Vaidik Panchanga maintains the Vedic tradition of calendar making by introducing a SEASONAL-SIDEREAL calendar for the first time in recent history. The principles used in this Panchanga have been discussed in “Vedic Astronomy and Astrology through Science, Wisdom and Commonsense”. This book is also available at Amazon.com for purchase at a nominal price. The Dulakara Vaidik Panchanga series is based on Ujjain, India, Longitude 75° 46' East Latitudes 23° 11'. It can be used effectively in countries where the Indian Standard Time (IST), which is GMT + 5.5 hours, is used, i.e. India and Sri Lanka.

Book excerpt: A myth-shattering view of the Islamic world's myriad scientific innovations and the role they played in sparking the European Renaissance. Many of the innovations that we think of as hallmarks of Western science had their roots in the Arab world of the middle ages, a period when much of Western Christendom lay in intellectual darkness. Jim al- Khalili, a leading British-Iraqi physicist, resurrects this lost chapter of history, and given current East-West tensions, his book could not be timelier. With transporting detail, al-Khalili places readers in the hothouses of the Arabic Enlightenment, shows how they led to Europe's cultural awakening, and poses the question: Why did the Islamic world enter its own dark age after such a dazzling flowering?

This book was released on 2014-07-09 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bhagawan has announced Himself as the Divine Teacher of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness. By precept and example, through His writings and discourses, letters and conversations, He has been instilling the supreme wisdom and instructing all mankind to translate it into righteous living, inner peace, and universal love. When the Ramakatha Rasavahini, the uniquely authentic, nectarine stream of the Rama’s story, was serialised in full in the Sanathana Sarathi, Bhagawan blessed readers with a new series, which He named Bharatiya Paramartha Vahini (The Stream of Indian Spiritual Values). While these precious essays, on the basic truths that foster and feed Indian culture since ages before history began, were being published, Bhagawan decided to continue the flow of illumination and instruction under a more comprehensive and meaningful name, Sathya Sai Vahini - the Ganga from the Lotus Feet of the Lord - “The Flow of Divine Sai Grace”. This book, therefore, contains the two Vahinis that have merged in one master stream. Inaugurating these series, Bhagawan wrote for publication in the Sanathana Sarathi, “Moved by the urge to cool the heat of conflict and to quench the agonising thirst for ‘knowledge about yourself’ that you are afflicted with, see, here it comes, the Sathya Sai Vahini, wave behind wave, with the Sanathana Sarathi as the medium between you and Me.” With infinite compassion, this Sathya Sai incarnation of the Omniwill is giving millions of persons in all lands freedom from disease, distress, and despair, narcotics, narcissism, and nihilism. He is encouraging those, who suffer gloom through wilful blindness, to light the Lamp of Love in order to see the world and the Lamp of Wisdom to see themselves. “This is a tantalising, true-false world. Its apparent diversity is an illusion. It is One, but is cognised by the maimed, multiple vision of humans as Many,” says Bhagawan. This book is the twin Lamp He has devised for us.

Book Christian Astrology

Download or read book Christian Astrology written by William Lilly and published by Astrology Center of America. This book was released on 2005-03 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Named "Christian" to avoid hassles (some things never change), this is the most famous, the most celebrated astrology book in the English language. It has been prized by students ever since its first publication in 1647. The Horary Astrology in these pages, in the hands of a master, is no mere parlour game. It is demanding and precise, combining science and art. Properly used, it will give answer to any well-defined question. William Lilly, famous throughout England for his almanacs & forecasts (he predicted London's Great Fire of 1666), lived during the English Civil War & was a minor historical figure in it. Into his studio came the rich and poor, nobles and commoners, with problems great and small. This new edition restores Lilly's original page layouts, with marginalia. Modern spelling throughout, this edition includes Lilly's bibliography, his original index & a new glossary. Also includes his original woodblock charts, and their modern versions. This is Lilly's great work as he himself knew it. In this volume: Book 1, An Introduction to Astrology, containing the use of an ephemeris; the erecting of a scheme of heaven; nature of the twelve signs of the Zodiac, of the planets; with a most easy introduction to the whole art of astrology. Book 2, The Resolution of All Manner of Questions, by a most methodical way, instructs the student how to judge or resolve all manner of questions contingent unto man, viz, of health, sickness, riches, marriage, preferment, journeys, etc. Some 35 questions inserted and judged.

Book Lost Enlightenment

    Book Details:
  • Author : S. Frederick Starr
  • Publisher : Princeton University Press
  • Release : 2015-06-02
  • ISBN : 0691165858
  • Pages : 694 pages

Download or read book Lost Enlightenment written by S. Frederick Starr and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2015-06-02 with total page 694 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The forgotten story of Central Asia's enlightenment—its rise, fall, and enduring legacy In this sweeping and richly illustrated history, S. Frederick Starr tells the fascinating but largely unknown story of Central Asia's medieval enlightenment through the eventful lives and astonishing accomplishments of its greatest minds—remarkable figures who built a bridge to the modern world. Because nearly all of these figures wrote in Arabic, they were long assumed to have been Arabs. In fact, they were from Central Asia—drawn from the Persianate and Turkic peoples of a region that today extends from Kazakhstan southward through Afghanistan, and from the easternmost province of Iran through Xinjiang, China. Lost Enlightenment recounts how, between the years 800 and 1200, Central Asia led the world in trade and economic development, the size and sophistication of its cities, the refinement of its arts, and, above all, in the advancement of knowledge in many fields. Central Asians achieved signal breakthroughs in astronomy, mathematics, geology, medicine, chemistry, music, social science, philosophy, and theology, among other subjects. They gave algebra its name, calculated the earth's diameter with unprecedented precision, wrote the books that later defined European medicine, and penned some of the world's greatest poetry. One scholar, working in Afghanistan, even predicted the existence of North and South America—five centuries before Columbus. Rarely in history has a more impressive group of polymaths appeared at one place and time. No wonder that their writings influenced European culture from the time of St. Thomas Aquinas down to the scientific revolution, and had a similarly deep impact in India and much of Asia. Lost Enlightenment chronicles this forgotten age of achievement, seeks to explain its rise, and explores the competing theories about the cause of its eventual demise. Informed by the latest scholarship yet written in a lively and accessible style, this is a book that will surprise general readers and specialists alike.

Book Vedic Mathematics Vedic or Mathematics A Fuzzy Neutrosophic Analysis

Download or read book Vedic Mathematics Vedic or Mathematics A Fuzzy Neutrosophic Analysis written by W. B. Vasantha Kandasamy and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on 2006-12 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ?Vedas? are considered ?divine? in origin and are assumed to be revelations from God. In traditional Hinduism, the Vedas were to be learnt only by the ?upper? caste Hindus. The ?lower castes? (Sudras) and so-called ?untouchables? (who were outside the Hindu social order) were forbidden from even hearing to its recitation. In recent years, there have been claims that the Vedas contain the cure to AIDS and the production of electricity. Here the authors probe into Vedic Mathematics (that gained renown during the revivalist Hindutva rule in India and was introduced into school syllabus in several states); and explore if it is really ?Vedic? in origin or ?Mathematics? in content. To gain a better understanding of its imposition, we interviewed students, teachers, parents, educationists and activists. We analyze this problem using models like Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCM), Fuzzy Relational Maps (FRM) and newly constructed Fuzzy Dynamical System (and their Neutrosophic Analogues). The issue of imposition of Vedic Mathematics into the school curriculum involves religious politics, caste supremacy, apart from elementary arithmetic ? so we use fuzzy and neutrosophic techniques to gain acute insight into how students have been affected because of this politically motivated syllabus revision.
