Book A Three phase Variable speed Commutator Motor

Download or read book A Three phase Variable speed Commutator Motor written by Sultan Ali Mohamed Fazulbhoy Sultan and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The principle of speed control of induction motors by injection of e.m.f. into the secondary winding has held an abiding interest for the author over the past several years. By studying the various systems and commutator motors invented in the first half of the century, the author has felt, despite the general belief to the contrary, that there was room for further investigation with a view to evolving a new type of system or motor. Throughout the investigations, the advantages and disadvantages of the existing commercially successful systems have been borne in mind, and efforts have been directed to eliminating their disadvantages while retaining as many of the advantages as possible. The efforts put into the project with this aim in mind have, in the opinion of the author, borne fruit. A three-phase, variable-speed, commutator motor of unconventional design has evolved. It is in its first, crude, prototype form, but the author feels confident that with further refinements it should become a viable commercial proposition for several variable-speed drives.
